Climate-Gate Professor In Denial: Blames Sarah Palin 4 Conspiracy
Governor Palin 4 President ^

Posted on 12/18/2009 12:23:48 PM PST by MaxCUA

Another Washington Post Op-Ed on Climate-gate! A Professor at Penn State University, Michael E. Mann, does his best to defend climate-gate and takes a few swipes at Sarah Palin. I posted parts of the Op-ed: E-mail furor doesn't alter evidence for climate change. Once again when Sarah Palin speaks the ENTIRE world is listening.

The hacked e-mails have been mined for words and phrases that can be distorted to misrepresent what the scientists were discussing. In a Dec. 9 op-ed, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin argued that "The e-mails reveal that leading climate 'experts' . . . manipulated data to 'hide the decline' in global temperatures." Yet the e-mail she cites was written in 1999, just after the warmest year ever recorded (1998) to that date. It could not possibly have referred to the claim that global temperatures have declined over this decade -- a claim that is false (the current decade, as has been recently reported, will go down as the warmest on record).

That photo is from her appearance on Conan O'Brian's show where she bantered with William Shatner.

With the cats in the background, she looks like a jazz singer.

It was hiding the decline in Michael Mann's sacred tree ring proxy record from 1960 onward, so Jones used Mann's "trick" of splicing measured temps onto proxy data. Mixing proxy and measured data is unethical and Mann and Jones should both be censured for trying to pull that fraud off.

If the proxy does not match the measured data, it shows that the tree ring proxies that Mann's entire fraudulent career has been built on, are worthless.

She used to be “kinda cute”. I don’t really mean it. But I heard that saying that makes her go berserk, due to her opposition to “Lookism”.

Prof. Mann, et al, actually provide the answer concerning where they found trees in that area that showed above average growth in the most recent periods.

First off, the main sequence trees in Yakutia had been AT THE TOP OF THE HILL but had FALLEN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL because of truly excreble local weather in the mid to late 1800s. These are the "semi fossil" trees referred to by Man, et al.

The uplands have yet to have trees grow on them since about 1850. Therefore any "living sample" trees had to have been found AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL.

The tree-ring sequence is continuous for 538 years for the "semi fossil" trees, and a later sampling took that sequence back about 2000 years.

As a practical matter no trees from the top of the hill could be sampled for periods AFTER about 1850 because, again, after the trees were washed away down to the bottom of the hill and all the top soil blown away, trees could not grow there.

So, where does Mann find his samples for the uncovered time period? Right there in his commentary on what other folks say about his samples he leads us to believe only one thing ~ to wit: he took tree ring samples that had been made by the Russians from "living trees" in the same region ~ and that's AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL.

I really have no idea what the elevation differences are, but if we had trees from the top living under conditions that could become so harsh that even the soil was blown away, and then we had trees from the bottom living under more salubrious conditions, and living right through the disaster, it's pretty clear that the average climate range at the TOP OF THE HILL is far different than the average climate range at the BOTTOM OF THE HILL.

In fact, Professor Mann's samples taken from trees at the BOTTOM OF THE HILL, show "growth" that suggests, in his mind, higher temperatures.

Mann is busy defending his choice of a few tree rings out of a larger sample set. I'd suggest the larger sample set that includes "living trees" that were around from 1850 to 1998 or so is what is BOGUS. It's just not part of the same series of trees in the "fossil" series that ends about 1850 ~ just as the thermometer is invented!

Great picture. That’s the one I was hoping she’d use for her book. Sarah going down that straight and narrow path leading to freedom! The path less traveled these days.

I’m sorry, I must have missed the part where Gov. Palin hacked into the computers and disbursed the damming emails all over the place. [/s]

THANK YOU for posting that graphic!! One of those *spew Pepsi on the tv screen* moments, I’d not seen her on Leno and hadn’t read any of the Shatner threads here, so I had no idea what to expect when I heard the piece was upcoming on another show. That “BOOM, taste my nightstick” recitation, HILARIOUS!!!
