Does It Matter if Obamacare Passes?
The Voice of Reason ^ | March 10, 2010 | Texas Peartree

Hidden from discussions about Reconciliation, 60-vote Senate super-majorities and the arcane rules of passing the same bad bill in both Houses of Congress, a more fundamental obstacle to socializing our medical system may soon emerge: the voters' sovereignty. People may soon stop to ask whether passing Obama's bill matters, considering what would likely happen after the President signs his landmark mistake.

Imagine that this sweeping healthcare abomination passes with zero votes from Republicans in the House and Senate. Never before has an important reform bill been passed in this manner. Heck, even the Civil Right laws of the 1960s were able to find some non-extremist Democrats to support them.

Assume further than the brain-dead Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and walking-argument-for-limiting-botox Speaker Nancy Pelosi pass a bill using every machination at their disposal. In November of this year the people will speak. My guess is that the people would elect Republicans into the majority in the House. The Senate is more difficult to change quickly, as only 1/3rd of the Senate is up for re-election every election cycle. Suffice it to say, the Senate would have a 50-50 chance of reverting to Republican control.

Since the healthcare reform begins collecting taxes in 2011, but only begins spending these taxes on universal healthcare in 2015, wouldn't we have an opportunity to repeal Obamacare? We would not need a 2/3rds super-majority to override a Presidential veto, as Congress puts forth all spending bills.

Furthermore, any Democrats in the Senate who are up for re-election in 2012 would likely support this repeal after seeing the landslide against their party in 2010. Unlike now, by then few Democrats in Congress could be bought off easily by the Obama Administration, as it would seem likely that he is a one-termer . . .

Does it matter if it passes? You’re darn right it does. Don’t ever believe that if it passes it can or will be repealed somewhere down the line. I don’t want to take that chance. Kill it now and be done with it!

Don’t undo it, just don’t fund it. No congress is required to continue the perogatives of the previous congress. No funding, no healthcare. Institute a flat tax, and after passage address how much socialism costs everyone. Think there might be a come to Jesus moment there.

Since they do not start spending for 4 years after implementation, we could roll it back. My point is, do not feel like we are permanently screwed if it passes. We must keep fighting.

The easiest thing is DON’T PASS IT. IF it passes, it will be on the books. JUST SAY “NO”.

No. You’re banking on a majority that will stop. I don’t count on “if” or “maybe”. And the Rinos are as bad as Dems. Spendspendspend.......

Maybe it can be repealed in 2012 with a vote based on reconciliation. If the Pubbies defund it - it is dead.

Ultimatley, I dont’ think anyting matters. A majority of the states, thousands of municipalities, thousands of corporations, and tens of millions of citizens will be insolvent twenty-four months from now. The dollar will be a contentious currency. The Federal government will not be able to collect a fraction of the revenues to support the USSA. It’s moot.

Your medical care will be negotiated locally.

Ditto retirement and social services.

They wiped out the current financial system, but not the means of production and the ways of wealth.

We will recover, in a country you won’t recognize from the one of, say, ten years ago.

That stubborn 2nd amendment will be the game changer.

Why do you assume a Republican majority would repeal the Health Bill when they can use it to channel money to their clients?

I love how so wrong the Dems are, they are actually right...

The GOP won't be seen as the "party of no" this year...

Rather...they will be seen as:

The Party of Hell No!

It would take a lot of whittling to get the foot out of door, and forgetting the need of a sixty vote margin for cloture, this act of Congress amounts to a declaration of war against the American people. The bill's primary problem is how it is built on a fundamental change in the relationship between a citizens and government, making the former into slaves of the latter. It's suppose to be the other way around.

The other side wants to gloss over little details like this, and they try to pooh pooh it away, just like they pooh pooh away everything else that's unique and good about American freedom.

I think expecting a response in kind after a declaration of war like this is not too much to expect. It would mean recourse to the need for a representative government to require political will is no longer necessary in this government, that the self-continuity and feather-bedding of federal, state and municipal employees enjoy a new a sovereign property right over my productivity.

In short, I say it's "spinach," and I say, "to hell with it!"

TOLL-FREE PHONE CALLING

1-800-828-0498

1-866-220-0044

These toll free arrangements were set up by Obamuniust organizations to support (pause for sticking out tongue) “health” “care” “reform.” Use them! After all, they are free! . At the first number you must wait through a brief Obamunist tape recording. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Then you will either talk to an aide or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.

When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office

Until a Democrat Congress comes along and re-funds it. This undead provision would be insane. Moreover, the liberty stifling provisions of the bill are more than enough to be problematic, even without funding to the "public option".

Yes, but IF it passes, we must keep fighting to repeal it before the “benefits” start to flow and some people have a more vested interest in continuing it.

The miserable 'Rats have enjoyed using the term, "mandate".
Fine.

ALL conservative candidates running in 2010 must declare they're running on a platform that should HealthScare pass? Their election mandates they repeal HealthScare at all costs.
Period.

The filthy leftist SOBs & their sycophant mediots can scream all they want but the PEOPLE will have spoken visa vi their votes.

Should the leftist-socialist-communists try any crap it'll be once again be defying the will of the people. Only this time they'll not have a leg to stand nor a scintilla of propaganda to spin.

THAT is our only chance should this *thing*, somehow, make it through.

1) If it passes, it is unconstitutional.

2) 37 states are working on a law to opt out of federal Osama-Care.
