Under President Obama’s new policy, however, if the state that has just attacked us with biological or chemical weapons is “in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty,” explained Gates, then “the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it.”
Imagine the scenario: Hundreds of thousands are lying dead in the streets of Boston after a massive anthrax or nerve gas attack. The president immediately calls in the lawyers to determine whether the attacking state is in compliance with the NPT. If it turns out that the attacker is up-to-date with its latest IAEA inspections, well, it gets immunity from nuclear retaliation. (Our response is then restricted to bullets, bombs and other conventional munitions.)
However, if the lawyers tell the president that the attacking state is NPT noncompliant, we are free to blow the bastards to nuclear kingdom come.
This is quite insane. It’s like saying that if a terrorist deliberately uses his car to mow down a hundred people waiting at a bus stop, the decision as to whether he gets hanged or 100 hours of community service hinges entirely on whether his car had passed emissions inspections.
Apart from being morally bizarre, the Obama policy is strategically loopy. Does anyone believe that North Korea or Iran will be more persuaded to abjure nuclear weapons because they could then carry out a biological or chemical attack on the United States without fear of nuclear retaliation?
The naivete is stunning.

Two Sentenced for Trafficking in Counterfeit Goods
PHILADELPHIA—Michael Katz, 58, of Plainsboro, NJ, and Alaa Allia Ahmed Mohamed, a/k/a “Alaa Ahmed Mohamed Abouelnagaa,” 44, of Brooklyn, NY, were both sentenced today for conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods and trafficking counterfeit goods, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Katz was sentenced to 12 months in prison; Mohamed was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The two were charged in an indictment that also charged Moussa Hamdan and others, including Hassan Hodroj, with attempting to provide material support to Hizballah in the form of approximately 1,200 Colt M4 Carbines (machine guns). In July 2008, Katz and Mohamed participated in the purchase and transportation of 1572 pairs of counterfeit Nike® shoes and 334 counterfeit Mitchell & Ness® sports jerseys—items with a total retail value of approximately $246,200.
In addition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Stewart Dalzell ordered Katz to pay a fine in the amount of $1,000 and ordered Mohamed to pay a fine in the amount of $250.
The charges against Katz, Mohamed, and four conspirators, were filed in November 2009. Katz pleaded guilty March 4, 2010. Mohamed pleaded guilty April 9, 2010.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the New Jersey State Police, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Secret Service, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the Philadelphia Police Department, the Department of Commerce, Customs and Border Protection, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Federal Air Marshals, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Department of State.
It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Nancy Beam Winter and Stephen A. Miller, and National Security Division Counterterrorism Section Trial Attorneys Jolie F. Zimmerman and Mary Futcher.

Texas Man Sentenced for Making Bomb Threats to Army Depot

Simmons, of Corpus Christi, Texas, who was convicted of 13 counts of willfully using a cellular telephone or other instrument of interstate or foreign commerce in making bomb threats to the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), was 10 years in federal prison on each count, to be served concurrently. Simmons was also ordered to pay $210,000 in restitution to the CCAD for the costs associated with the evacuation of employees and other actions taken in response to the bomb threats.

Our media do not seem to be interested in the curious matter of why the
Russian agents accused of trying to acquire sensitive nuclear information
from the U.S. Government were so quickly released. Why were they were sent
back to Moscow less than two weeks after they were arrested?
It is certainly the case that a continuing spy scandal threatened to
undermine U.S.-Russia business “opportunities” and “cooperation.” It is also
true that there is evidence that the Russian agents targeted the Obama
Administration and former Clinton Administration officials.
Just before the scandal broke, a $4 billion deal had been announced between
Boeing and a Russian firm. During the visit of Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev to the U.S., Cisco Systems had announced it was going to spend $1
billion in Russia, in part to develop a Moscow version of Silicon Valley.
The United States Export-Import Bank had also announced a new deal to
underwrite, with U.S. taxpayer dollars, U.S. business exports to Russia.
Plus, Obama had submitted a U.S.-Russian nuclear cooperation agreement,
backed by powerful business interests, to the U.S. Congress.

JOHN L. SMITH: Drug cartels may cash out in Mexico, cash in on Las Vegas
The headlines drip with blood and gore.
“21 killed in Mexican gang battle near U.S. border,” calls one.
“Killing escalates in Mexican drug war,” shouts another.
Turn away from those headlines if you wish, but don’t deny the essential
connection between Mexico’s murderous drug cartels and America’s insatiable
craving for their products.
While law enforcement and the press have focused on the drug pipeline
connecting the two countries, lately another underground river is finally
getting the attention it deserves: It’s the torrent of illicit cash flowing
from the United States to Mexico and back.

With in minutes of filing the above as not really news, the Las Vegas Police scanner, issued a call for a Bike Officer down on Lamb Avenue.
For the past 20 minutes I have listened, they have now transported the body, just in case, to a hospital, but the Officers say there is no hope.
Pray for a miracle.
And if you are driving a tan SUV, with some damage, you had better get ready to be checked by every Cop that sees you.
For that is what we have,the hit and run death of an Officer.
I am not surprised, for they said they would and for the record, the cars in Denver and San Diego are burning, at the rate of 3 in 5 minutes in San Diego, last night, I have no idea of the nights totals, and all at a different location.

In the flash of a criminals twist of the wheel, a family is ripped and will never be the same again.
