I said try again because if you’re trying to convince people Ron Paul is the guy it’s best not to bring to the table a resource (wikipedia) no one except the extreme left finds credible. Try more credible news and information sources. Still, this really isn’t the place to champion Ron Paul. Most here are well-informed and have had many years to learn about Mr. Paul (he’s our Dennis K. and runs in every election even though he doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in H-E-double hockey sticks of winning). There’s probably lots of message boards out there where people do support Paul. It’s just not going to happen at FR

Sadly Reagan and Heston are no longer of this earth.

Any better ideas of some one who will truly tell the U.N. to pound sand?

Ted Nugent?

Chuck Norris?

West is a breath of fresh air right now. I’m not going to lie, I do like Palin. I’ll never forget the look in my daughters’ eyes when they watched her accept the offer to run as VP. They saw someone and something they recognized and it gave them hope. That is why I don’t criticize those who voted for Obama, even though he was never someone I could support due to his policies, I could see the need to connect to the message of I am like you! My daughters saw that in Palin. But here is where years of dis-allusion come in...I am not at a comfortable place to support Palin for Prez. I’m not sure she has proved she can handle it, and I am not sure how conservative she is. I so appreciate her support of our military, and her strong family values...I’m just not there yet. Paul Ryan is another I am watching, too. Rubio looks promising but he is still an unknown to me also. Our country will need to be healed when all this is over, and that is who needs to get the job. Not sure that person has appeared.

Sad. To me he represents what America is...a place where we all can work to the top and be what we want without compromising who we are.

It doesn’t matter that Reagan is no longer here. His legacy is not turning to socialism to defeat recession, not turning to appeasement to confront evil empires.

The Reagan conservatism with all three pillars of conservatism: economic, social/family, national security...is the conservatism we strive for...Reagan’s legacy.

“Jim DeMint”

I am a huge Jim DeMint fan and would vote for him in a second. Sadly, in this media-driven world, he does not have the charisma to win the Presidency. May be a hell of a good VEEP for someone form the Midwest, though.

Generally, I am very dis-satisfied with the current pool of potential candidates. I am big on Fred Thompson, but he does not seem to want it (yet?). I like Ryan from Wisconsin from the limited amount I have seen of him. I used to like Gingrich, but he has become a moonbeam on Global Warming. I like Tom Coburn’s stands on many issues.

What I would like to see is a fiscal Conservative with the charisma of Fred Thompson, the desire to be President of Jonh McCain (but not much else from McCain), and the feistiness of Jim DeMint. I want someone with some core beliefs he (or she) is willing to stand up for. I want someone who is not afraid to put the United States’ interests first in foreign policy, but who is willing to stand up for our allies and to favor democracies over totalitarian governments. Mostly I want someone who is willing to stand up for our Capitalist economic system and who is not afraid to say Government needs to actually shrink rather than grow slower. I saw someone like that once . . . Ronald something-or-other.

I’ll never forget the look in my daughters’ eyes when they watched her accept the offer to run as VP.

I'll never forget the rising horror in the voices of the journo-pimperati, especially the women, when they got a look at Sarah -- "The horror! The horror!" </Apocalypse Now>

The fear, the horror, the shock of recognition -- this woman is Apollyon! -- it was all just too, too fragrant, too sweet. It was like someone had just opened one of the Seven Seals.

I love the smell of liberal armpit sweat in the morning!!

lolol

Last time around Fred didn't seem to have the fire in his belly.

I think he knew he was toast before he started, he was too far behind in the money calf-scramble (and too, the teat had dried up -- all the big GOP money was busy measuring for drapes down in Costa Rica and fueling up their steam yachts for Bermuda and Vonaire). So he went through the motions without any real expectations that anything good would happen, to satisfy his supporters.

I think that about sizes it up -- from my seat in the 64th row.

You have any evidence you can point to -- links? -- that ties Ron Paul to Soros and MoveOn.org?

Just wondering -- nice graphic, but is it true?

You mentioned why you didn’t like those other “guys.” I’m curious why you don’t like Palin. You never said what is the matter w/ her. I like her, but like others on here, Its early, She needs to continue getting her message out there and there is the media issue. I do like her though. She is, like that one poster said, “Identifiable?” You could make the argument that she has baggage, but I believe your guy to have waaaayy too much baggage w/ true conservatives. Palin only carries baggage w/ our sad media. Thoughts...

Aside from foreign policy, what are Tommy Frank’s positions? I have heard his and Petraus’s names bandied about and would like to hear more about where they stand on domestic issues.

From what I read, Bobby Jindal is a strong Roman Catholic (which would come in handy to fight the horrendous "Catholic" appointments of our current administration), is an outstanding family man, and is brilliant even by brilliant men's standards. Find me a True Roman Catholic, one who believes in the faith to its fullest, and I will certainly read up about that person. Otherwise, we haven't got a prayer fighting darkness with Christian mediocrity, which is what I see -- other than perhaps Michele Bachmann -- regarding our current politicians. (I don't see this as a fight between Republicans and Democrats anymore; I see this as a fight between good vs. evil, and I believe Bobby Jindal to be a good man.)

General Franks is a true Texas raised Conservative... he called colin powell an affirmative action general... he blasted weasley clark as an idiot... he is great! He hates politics so we can forget about his running for office. He served OUR Nation well and wants to remain a retired citizen. Too bad... we need more like him.
