This will be a necessarily brief update -- I am recuperating at home, albeit slowly, and remain low on energy. A week ago today I was ambulanced to the UVA Medical Center hospital for an exploratory surgery. The surgery revealed that cancer has spread through the interior of my colon and is creating a substantial blockage. I have been outfitted with a drainage tube and a PICC port so that I can take in nourishment. Those steps worked well enough that I was released from the hospital on Thursday. Friday and Saturday have gone well, all things considered, and I am making some progress recuperating.

Sorry about the sudden absence; my old nemesis has returned, with reinforcements, and has laid me low. I do have several works-in-progress which it would please me to complete and publish in the time I have left; I will ping as these get done.

I am saying prayers for you. I’m gathering from other posts you may be French (Canadian?). My Dad’s family were Couerer des Bois and fought for America in the Revolutionary war, and Mom’s were Scots that did the same.
Jay, I don’t know if you are a believer- but the people I know in the mountains, the shape note singers, the deep believing Christians can pray and sing prayers for you. I hope you are a part of a prayer circle.You are part of mine now. The power of it is enormous. You have given so much, God Bless You.

Jay, I don’t know if you know what an inspiration and testimony of strength and courage you are to all of us (your FReeper FRiends). God has given you a gift and you have used it to the fullest. For this, I am sure that your “crowns” (rewards) in heaven will be many. And perhaps God is not through with you yet. We so desperately need men like you to look up to, and I pray that He will allow you more time.
