You’re right.. Even if we take the house, the best we can hope for is gridlock over the next two years, because there’s no way we’ll gain a super majority in either the house or the senate, and I do not foresee many dem legislators siding with conservatives on issues that are important to us.
Things are pretty grim.. I am a small business owner, and my business partner and I travel to Washington DC once every year to meet with our elected officials. This is “grassroots” lobbying. We go to DC from Atlanta on our own nickel and pay all our own expenses. We talk to our representatives about current and upcoming legislation that directly impacts out business. Here is what I have learned after doing this over the past fifteen years... It is almost impossible to change or repeal bad legislation after it becomes law. Even is we win a majority in the house, it will not be possible to repeal the onerous, business-killing legislation that has already been passed, or is under consideration right now. The dems know this, and that’s why they are pushing their legislative agenda through, in spite of the fact that a majority of Americans oppose everything from Obamacare, Cap and Trade, Amnesty, and more..
The damage is already done. I’ll say this.. My wife and I have 4 children, all grown and beginning their careers. My wife and I will be OK.. We’re almost 60 years old and we should make it OK until we die.. But when our kids were little, we watched out for them. My feeling then was - if you mess with my kids, I’m coming after you.. Now, I feel like my kids - and grandkids - are being screwed by the current administration. They are going to pay a very heavy price for the huge deficit, higher taxes, etc. I am one angry conservative..
My prayer is that we raise up conservative leadership that can look beyond November, and lay the groundwork for a super majority in the senate in the following election. To me, this is the only way that we have a prayer of reversing or repealing the damage already done..
