Word on the street is that Shirley Sherrod is a saint and Andrew Breirbart is a no good liar.
Interesting take. Not mine, but it's interesting.
When I saw the video Breitbart posted, I made a few assumptions. I assumed her discrimination happened recently. It didn't. It happened like 24 years ago.
And I assumed she had more to say about discriminating against people because of race. She says as much towards the end of the video. She first claims it's not about black or white. Then she says it is about black or white, but more about rich and poor.
Whatever.
Now everyone is clamoring about how Breitbart is a bad person because the video was edited to make Sherrod look like a racist.
I don't think Sherrod was the target here. I'm positive the NAACP was.
I'm just going by what Breitbart wrote:
In the first video, Sherrod describes how she racially discriminates against a white farmer. She describes how she is torn over how much she will choose to help him. And, she admits that she doesn't do everything she can for him, because he is white. Eventually, her basic humanity informs that this white man is poor and needs help. But she decides that he should get help from "one of his own kind". She refers him to a white lawyer.
Sherrod's racist tale is received by the NAACP audience with nodding approval and murmurs of recognition and agreement. Hardly the behavior of the group now holding itself up as the supreme judge of another groups' racial tolerance.
Breitbart never called for Sherrod to be fired. He pointed out the attitude of those in attendence.
I think it's also necessary to point out that those who are declaring Breitbart a liar have little or nothing to say about Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver, who said he was spit upon but decided not to press charges.
He released a statement on the "incident," which read:
This afternoon, the Congressman was walking into the Capitol to vote, when one protester spat on him. The Congressman would like to thank the US Capitol Police officer who quickly escorted the others Members and him into the Capitol, and defused the tense situation with professionalism and care. After all the Members were safe, a full report was taken and the matter was handled by the US Capitol Police. The man who spat on the Congressman was arrested, but the Congressman has chosen not to press charges. He has left the matter with the Capitol Police.
When the video came out showing he was not spit upon and the Capitol Police said they made no arrests that day, Cleaver clammed up. On April 2, told FOX 4 news in Kansas City:
"I haven't talked about this incident on TV or anywhere, and I've been approached to talk about it on every national TV show." He added, "I never, I never reported anything, never a single thing in Washington, not one thing."
He lied. It was a bald faced lie. He was not spit upon. There was no arrest.
No outrage. Nor is there any outrage that the claims of racial slurs being chanted at black congressmen as they walked through a sea of Tea Party protesters have been shown to be false. Here's what they said about it:
Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., told a reporter that as he left the Cannon House Office Building with Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., a leader of the civil rights era, some among the crowd chanted "the N-word, the N-word, 15 times."
...
Clyburn, who led fellow black students in integrating South Carolina's public facilities a half century ago, called the behavior "absolutely shocking."
"I heard people saying things today that I have not heard since March 15, 1960, when I was marching to try to get off the back of the bus," Clyburn told reporters.
There isn't one single frame of video evidence that supports this claim. And let's not pretend there isn't video of the entire walk. If you watch the videos out there, you can see people in the group, Jesse Jackson, Jr. in particular, using their cell phones to record the event. If it happened, they would have released the video.
This false claim made national news and stands as fact on many websites today. And it never happened.
That didn't stop the NAACP from using these "incidents" as a reason to ask the Tea Party activists to repudiate the racist elements in the movement:
The resolution came after a year of high-profile media coverage of attendees of Tea Party marches using vile, antagonistic racial slurs & images. In March, respected members of the Congressional Black Caucus reported that racial epithets were hurled at them as they passed by a Washington, DC health care protest. Civil rights legend John Lewis was called the "n-word" in the incident while others in the crowd used ugly anti-gay slurs to describe Congressman Barney Frank, a long-time NAACP supporter and the nation's first openly gay member of Congress.
Missouri Representative Emmanuel Cleaver was spat on during the incident, and so it was particularly appropriate that the resolution was passed as NAACP delegates gathered in Kansas City for our 101st Annual Convention.
So I'm not really distraught about the video Breitbart posted to illustrate the NAACP audience's response to Sherrod.
I've sat and listened to Jeaneane Garafalo say "the limbic brain inside a right-winger or Republican or conservative or your average white power activist, the limbic brain is much larger in their head space than in a reasonable person, and it's pushing against the frontal lobe. So their synapses are misfiring."
I've listened to Obama administration puppets like Keith Olbermann, Ed Schultz and others use the term "teabagger" to describe me and my friends. The president even reportedly used the term.
I've been slandered as being a Klansman who has traded his robes in for a Tea Party t-shirt.
Pardon me if I don't feel like tucking my tail between my legs and apologizing because the NAACP and the Obama administration chose to focus on Sherrod and force her to resign. The fact remains the audience approved of her discriminating against a white farmer.
And I'm supposed to feel bad for pointing it out?
This is a battle for the heart and soul of America, where they keep hitting us below the belt and the media not only ignores it, but participates in it. But we are expected to take the left's attempt to marginalize us by defamation, take the high road and play by a different set of rules.
Personally, I'm not interested in playing Mr. Nice Guy anymore. I'd prefer to play to win and keep my liberty.
The Journolist Obamamedia keep pointing to 24 years ago....but what about in March of this year, as a Federal Employee, she talked about the Bushes and ‘those Republicans’, and accused them of being hateful.
She should be fired as a Federal Employee on that alone!
Not just about black and white, but what Republican of any color could have confidence in her?
And she was an Obama appointee.
Who fired her? He did. They can try to cover it up how ever they want to....

Don’t be too sure...there are many folks looking through the tapes and transcripts of all the things this black political activist has said in the intervening years...too early to tell what may come up and whether this was an isolated incident 24 years ago or part of a pattern.
They didn’t seem to mind the amount of time that had passed between the 2000 election and bush’s dui.
Amen - I’d been thinking that for days....how many years between the DUI and Election 2000? Just saying......the hypocrisy of the media continues to amaze me even after I think, each and every time, that they can’t top themselves....

In the fuller version of her March 27 speech to the NAACP released yesterday by the group, Sherrod accuses Republicans of opposing Barack Obama because of his race:
“Some of the racism we thought was buried, didn’t it surface? Now we endured eight years of the Bushes, and we didn’t do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black president.”

The woman is a falsely repentant racist, as were the vast majority of those who sat in the audience taking perverse satisfaction in her doing in the white folks. Virulent racism against whites is the dirty secret whose name we dare not mention. Thank God Andrew Breibart had the courage to stand up and speak out. It’s time to have an open national dialog about black racism.

If she is repentant about her previous racism, that’s all fine. But I don’t believe some of the terminology she used in her recent speech regarding “his own kind” and such is appropriate. She may have been trying to be shocking with her point but it was quite racially insensitive in this day and age.
No one is talking about Sherrod’s recent multi-million dollar lawsuit against the govt. - was that settled by giving her a job? Can’t remember the details.
