Once again we see Islam being brought into the workplace. Today we learn that Minnesota Vikings safety Husain Abdullah, has decided that fasting and playing at a lower level, is more important than giving it his all for the team.

Even while sprinting in the heat and humidity during drills, sometimes in full pads, Abdullah is adamant about his faith. He will not allow himself so much as a cup of water until the sun sets and before it rises.

“I’m putting nothing before God, nothing before my religion,” Abdullah said. “This is something I choose to do, not something I have to do. So I’m always going to fast.

This sort of self absorbed focus will really help the team. I would love to be a fly on the wall in that locker room. Could they trade this guy to the Cowboys? Go Skins.

He’ll see God after the first few hits against the Giants.

Well, he could always get a job driving a taxi in Minneapolis.

While I don’t agree with his faith, I agree with his dedication to his faith. I applaud any man who’s principles hold true in every situation. I have risked getting fired for refusing to work on a Sunday, and I would have taken the firing rather than give in.

Ever seen Chariots of Fire?

So let’s say he collapses of dehydration and is on a life support? Will his religion allow him to be saved? Will his religion and his family be allowed to sue the Vikings for carelessness?...I wouldn’t let him on my football field if he did not play by my rules.

Unfortunately the team is foolishly going along with this.

“Last year it occurred in early September, and we saw a dip in his performance,” coach Brad Childress said. “We said, ‘What’s wrong with Husain Abdullah? It doesn’t seem like he has enough spunk.

“I think we have our arms around it now and know when he is going to wake up and when he is going to eat and what we can pack on him before the sun comes up.”

Obviously he is not a team player, and hopefully his teammates will let him know this

When he dies on the field from heat exhaustion I am sure his family will have no problem suing his mortal bosses.

The fact that he is a Muslim or that he is fasting doesn’t make him an America-hating terrorist. I’d say this is admirable and I wish more Christian players would put their faith above the game.

It’s cute how the writer assumes he’ll play at a lower level. It’s just daytime fasting, it’s not that big a deal. And it’ll be over before his team actually plays a game that counts anyway. He’s by no means the only athlete to fast during the season for his religion. All the observant Jews in the league will be food free for an entire day right before their second game of the season.

I would just say, "It's Allah's Will."

Terrorists are the least of the problem when it comes to Islam. Muslims like this that push their religion into all aspects of America, are even more dangerous to life as we know it. As a Christian why are you supporting a man following a religion that calls for your dominance?

While I don’t agree with his faith, I agree with his dedication to his faith.

Hakeem Olajuwon took that approach during Ramadan with the Houston Rockets. I think it made a great player even greater in his case.

It’s a big difference between an indoor sport, and an outdoor sport in 90+ degree weather.

Is he first on the depth chart for his position, otherwise he may soon have plenty of time to enjoy his fast.

And yet any display of faith by a Christian is met with disdain.
