Refresh every few minutes by pressing F5 on your keyboard.

The crowd is rowdy with occasional chants of “USA, USA” or “Glenn, Glenn”

A crowd of possibly 300,000 is expected at the Mall on Washington, DC for Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally in front of the Lincoln Memorial. We plan to cover it “live” from his Facebook streaming audio.

Lots of surprise guests will be showing up for this blend of religion and patriotism. Last night at the Divine Destiny rally at the Kennedy Center, evangelicals Twila Paris, Dave Roever, and Chuck Norris all made appearances.

Today’s rally will feature veterans who will be introduced by Sarah Palin, Alveda King (niece of Martin Luther King and pro-life advocate), and David Barton.

btw Make up your mind. I already said what I thought, and you flamed me for that too.

Personally, I wish he would keep religion out of this. Make it a purely political/social rally. Or maybe like you said, a political rally of religious people.

I am sorry for that. This kind of attitude, where only those you agree with 100 percent can post without being flamed personally will make this entire board wither on the vine if too many people participate in such an approach.

Simply much, cripplecreek?

cripplecreek, it's not cowardice to recognize the positive things that Beck is doing but express concern about the ecumenism that he's advancing by how he's doing them.

That's discernment. Something that's in short supply in politics and the Church today...

Alveda King inspired me to take a closer look at Malcom X.

He was unlikely to become a conservative or even a capitalist but he was waking up to the muslim brotherhood and islam. He said that the muslim brotherhood created zombies and that he had spent 14 years of his life as a zombie. It cost him his life.

Yes, I got that impression from the first couple hours I spent with Mormon missionaries discussing theology, too. 10-11 hours later (over several visits) we finally got to the nitty gritty. Make no mistake the LDS church is taking the seeker sensitive approach as well.

Although entirely predictable, I sort of get the Faith Merit medal award winner. Barely, but sort of.

However, a baseball player as the second Hope Merit medal award winner is a complete mystery as to why and other than St. Louis Cardinal baseball fans, I sincerely doubt that no one really knows why he was selected for the award.

I am watching this on C-Span and I got on FreeRepublic to participate with others who are also watching but after reading the comments on this post I can honestly say that the crappola being written about this gathering makes me want to scream.

This gathering is simply about trying to unify and encourage those of us who feel alone in our desire to restore our country to principles set forth by our Founding Fathers and in the Bill of Rights and Constitution.

I am out here in the netherland...surrounded by those who are dumber than dirt about how this country is being destroyed. How Christians such as myself are being forced back into the catacombs....and here is a huge crowd of people who have gathered to simply say....we are Americans...we are all colors...we are also Christians as well as other religions...Christians who want to be able to shout our pride in our God and in our Christ....it is simply a means to pull us together...and, yet, these people posting miss the whole point by yakking about things that continue to divide us.

Can’t we...just once....forget our individual thoughts in order to join together in this fight against those who want to take away our freedoms? Can’t we just say we are Americans...Christian Americans....a kalaidescope of American colors...and we are damned proud of it!!

The philanthropist Hussman receiving the Charity Merit medal award is completely predictable. Not even showing up for the award was not.

I seem to recall Glenn Beck said ordinary Americans would be awarded this medals of Merit. Yet, rank and file Americans who really are the backbone of America, who really are the Faith, the Hope and the Charity of America seemed to have been excluded from the awards.

imo, THE PEOPLE should have been the recipients, Glenn. imo, you should have known better.

Unity comes through a shared commitment to the same principle. But unless that principle is true, the long-term result is not good. It certainly won't be in keeping with God's character.

I wouldn't have a problem with this event if the foundation was a return to common-sense concepts that informed the foundation of the country (i.e. a political thing). So much of what he's saying is good, and I agree that people are hungry for it. But Beck and others are rooting this faith in God, and saying this is His working.

Who is God though? We don't get to define Him ourselves; God's already done that in His word, the Bible.

If Mormonism and orthodox Christianity don't have the same God (and according to every Mormon I've spoken with and every Mormon teaching I've ever read, we don't), then commitment to God isn't unifying in anything but a superficial and ultimately idolatrous way. Frankly, that'd be true for any religion which isn't orthodox Christianity; Mormonism has the spotlight because of Beck, that's all.

Whatever cultural and political encouragement Beck is fostering will ultimately be poisoned by the ecumenism with which he's delivering it.

Hear! Hear!

Unfortunately, there are posters among us who do do NOT want conservatives to unify around these great themes. They pretend to be conservatives, but they really work for and in behalf of liberals and the liberal agenda.

This rally is a means of showing that we can speak such words in public on federal grounds. Those who see this as a direct assault on their faith or lack of faith, feel that way for a reason. Its up to them to discover why they feel that they're under assault.

My beliefs are personal to me. However, what religion in this country of freedom to worship is bombarded daily over others?....Christianity. I happen to be Christian by choice but my Christianity is not based on a religous affiliation to any particular church that is Christian based. I support anyone with religous beliefs other than mine in their pursuit of worship. However, I also support any movement that emphasizes the point that Christians are being assaulted and it is alright to defend Christian beliefs. It is my feeling that the religous base of this gathering is to emphasize that point..not to promote Christianity. Today is the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famous speech....he spoke as a Christian....but the message came through....we are all created the same and in our God’s eyes we are the same....we need to unite to see that this is carried forward...not snuffed out by some socialist takeover that will not allow religious beliefs to be expressed, defended, promoted...and ultimaley not allowed. We need to allow Christians to be free and outspoken...not smothered by other beliefs....atheism is a religion....to not have a belief is to have a belief...yet, the atheist voice is being shouted over Christianity because America is primarily a Christian nation...statistically and historically....we have to be silenced so socialism will be the only voice we will hear.
DO NOT GO SILENTLY INTO THE CATACOMBS!! I will not.

Sorry i was unable to update as the ATT network was very unstable with over 1,000,000 at. The event.

I think Glenn did a great job on keeping the young people in the crowd interested. I have my 13,14,15 year old kids and they loved it.

We are staying at the Mandarin Oriental and came back at about 9 30 to grab some things. In the lobby was Al Sharpten and about 8 guys. They had a black panther as their security guy. They look shell shocked as if the gig is up. I got a kick out of the three black Escalades in the drive. Power to the people.

Hey there! No worries - I figured the networks were pretty overloaded!

Interesting about RevAl+Crew! The Twitter feed was very inspiring (Todd Starnes RT’d my observation that there would be no trash on the ground) and silly (the snarky wannabes trying to make fun of it - they just looked juvenile).

One woman tweeted that the left had people trolling through the crowd, trying to pick fights. She saw someone assaulted. Did you see any of that?

Glad you all had a great time! I’m relieved everyone was safe.

I agree...the Jesus of the Mormons is not the Jesus who existed always with the Father and said “Before Moses was, I Am,” who is The Word (In the beginning was the Word...and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”)

The Mormon’s Jesus was a mortal man, born along with his brother, Lucifer, to a man who then became god. And Mormons believe that they, too, will become gods, just as Jehovah was once a man, (in their belief system) who then became a god.

The two belief systems are antithetical to each other...completely incompatible.

I could never join in prayer with a Mormon as we believe in two separate and distinctly unequal Gods, it would be like praying with an Muslim to Allah, or with a Hindu to Vishnu or Krishna.

I still love what Glenn Beck does and I wish him and his rally the best of success...but only in a political sense, his “Christianity” is not the Biblical Christianity I believe in.

Ed

Yes the left had people trying to pick fights they were easy to see they were the ones with a camera crew near by. I told one guy God Bless You and he said something back.

Sharpeton had 8 guys with him all older and they looked shell shocked. I think they were scared as at 9:30am many people were still coming in. My son who is 14 says Dad look a Black Panther for real, I laughed.

My wife observed a woman replacing a trash bag with her own and placing the full one a side. These were her personal bags. Pretty amazing when Patriots are on parade.
