Obama to hit campaign trail after island vacation: Aims to reassure voters on US economy
The Boston Globe | August 29, 2010 | Mark Arsenault

For 10 days, even as dire housing and economic reports continued, President Obama kept to a disciplined vacation schedule, allowing only the occasional glimpse of him on Martha’s Vineyard as he golfed, dined, and relaxed.

But now, Democratic Party officials said, a recharged president will hit the midterm election hustings with a message tuned to echo his 2008 campaign theme of “Hope’’ and seek to persuade skeptical Americans that his long-promised economic recovery is real.

“He is still a very strong energizer of the Democratic vote,’’ said Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee. “He’s going to be hustling on the road until the November election and he’ll be relishing the opportunity.’’

It will be one of Obama’s greatest challenges. Despite spending billions of dollars on stimulus programs, unemployment remains stubbornly high at 9.5 percent, housing is in a deep slump, and the Tea Party is ascendant in some key states. Many analysts are predicting that Democrats will lose a number of seats in the House and Senate and possibly control of Congress.

Indeed, Republicans are welcoming Obama back to the campaign trail. “He makes our argument for us,’’ said Doug Heye, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee.

The buzz is Dems are so desperate, they actually think Michele Obama is their ticket to victory.

Dems oughta urge her to prepare a fund-raising speech about her wonderful trip to Spain (/snix).

"I'm looking forward to when DU starts posting things like, "Is Obama a Republican plant?"

They are getting very close. I don't think they feel the love any more.

“...a disciplined vacation schedule”

Doesn’t sound like a vacation to me.

I think we’ve been hustled quite enough already. We can’t take too much more of Barry’s con jobs.

Nuclear attack by terrorists? The pitchfork, tar & feather and torches that might be coming? Bored by real work, since he’s never done any?"

I'll take door #3, Monty.

Poor Baby! Has to have DISCIPLINED golfing, dining, and relaxing. Now he has to interrupt this discipline, in order to campaign. What's missing here?

Is there doubt in anyone's mind this guy and the pricks who surround him are trying to destroy America?

He's had nearly two years in office and things are getting worse! He really thinks he's going to "change" minds now by taking an inordinate amount of vacations and then go out "campaigning" when he should be doing his job he was elected to do? This guys deserves nothing less than to be tarred, feathered, and run out on a rail!

Caution - Watch out for the BSM trying to spin unexpected "GOOD" economic news coming out in Sept and Oct.

“He is afraid to spend time in Washington DC. What is that fear all about?”

I think he’s afraid of being responsible for the coming Dem rout but also afraid of being irrelevant to the election. He will undoubtedly campaign in nice safe districts like San Fran Nan’s, or make speeches at commemorations for populist events like 9/11, Columbus Day, October Revolution, etc., etc. so he can claim credit for helping Dems who manage to retain their seats. The speeches will never fail to tear down Tea Partiers and Republican politicians who are true conservatives while giving a shout-out to the RINOs. He wants to remain in the spotlight even if he has to steal it from his own teammates.

“Aims to reassure voters on US economy”

Obama: “Yes it’s in the tank, BUT IT COULD OF BEEN WORSE”

What a joke.

Nothing like going from a vacation to the campaign trail. I guess the good thing is at least he’s not working and signing into law new bills which take more of our liberties away.

For all I care he can go on vacation until 2012.

“Obama will resign”, I made a prediction last month that Obama would resign in about 6 weeks.

I am wondering if either I actually posses some prophetic ability or its just an over abundance of wishful thinking on my part.

What honest in all reality would be the most absolute thing to make Obama realized his end is in sight, that he has totally lost all momentum, support and funding?

What could be the reason, the motions, the acts of America?

Could the highly successful rally spearhead by his opposition give him trepidation or a deeper resolve to continue?

Or does any of it even sink in, is Obama truly so far above mere mortal Americans that no matter how many people challenge him that he still continues regardless?

What indeed would be the reason for Obama to resign, he has every possible power in DC that could remove him in his pockets. Nobody can get close to him and nobody dares.
