I saw an old HS teacher a couple years ago and the $$$ car she was driving. So, I got nosy and looked her up on BostonHerald.com (they have a list of every current and retired state employee along with their salary/pension) and I don't know how, but this person makes MORE money in yearly pension than when she worked.

She had no advanced degree (she was nice, but not exactly the brightest bulb) and she's pulling down a BIG, tax-free pension and (practically) free healthcare.

Not a bad investment for a few quid spent on supplies (which are tax deducible), eh???

The beauty of that is you know where he stands. No waffling, lying, or dishonesty. No one is the perfect candidate. I.E we are not going to agree with someone 100%. I can live with a guy who tells the truth as he sees it. He is a man with character. How rare today

This guy does his job with all the self-confidence and abandon of someone who knows his organization is in such desperate financial straits that nothing is off the table when it comes to money-saving measures.

The applause you hear for the governor in the background in that video is very telling. I never thought I'd see the day, but over the course of the first eight months of the Christie administration we have seen public school teachers fall to a low level of public esteem that is usually reserved for lawyers.

The way he addressed her was perfect. She was no different from anyone else, none of the bowing and scraping teachers demand from their public servants. She was just another person, and when she didn’t show proper manners, he called her on it. Then he explained his position and his facts dismantled her unionspeak.

I dig that.

"I'm a taxpayer!" Yeah, your "pay" comes from someone else's taxes. So, in effect, you are only paying back what you took.

That is so true that it was worth repeating. Public employees don't pay taxes. When a government job is created at, say, $50K gross salary, the private sector pays the salary and a bookkeeping entry is made deducting some of it for withholding.

It's sort of an extra, hidden little tax on the private sector for each new government hire.

Maybe teachers aren’t all union flaks but they sure are represented by them. When teachers quit being nothing more than a DNC machine, we will begin respecting them again. For them to whine about buying supplies when we pay their salaries they can always go out into the real world and find out what else they have to buy.

Pray for America

Unfortunately, if will keep electing people who refuse to deal with the national security and economic issues resulting from illegal aliens the US is doomed.

As I said Christie is an improvement over Corzine (albeit mrginal) but he is not someone to be held up as a model fiscal conservative or potential presidential candidate.

How many jihadis, people traffickers, drug traffickers, pedophiles, serial rapists, drunk drivers, and sundry other criminals entered the US while Bush refused to secure our borders? How much of our hard earned tax dollars support these people? How many extraneous government employees suck up tax dollars to administer services to illegals? How much has our national security been compromised?

Christie has been spectacular against the teachers unions. Flat out awesome. But there are questions about some other stances he’s taken. I like the attitude of being both smart and unafraid to use facts to disarm the union shills - I am just not convinced he’s a solid Conservative in other matters.

Many (most?) teachers lay out around $500 per year from their own pocket to buy materials for their classrooms.

Many if not all schools have incidental funding from outside sources to help teachers with material costs. PTA's. PTSA's, Dad's Clubs, etc. basically parents and community help the teachers. While many teachers do purchase the items they are reimbursed.

The reason for euphemism is the following: Sometimes the reality seems too brutal to say out loud. For example, the case can be clearly made for the bombing of Hiroshima and Nag but it sounds too awful to say we’re going to kill 200000 people with two bombs. Trouble is, it’s gotten to the point where ANYTHING can be used against the speaker so they say NOTHING.

“He’s doing a good job for New Jersey.”

Great. I hope he stays there. I have nothing against him personally. But when he steps out onto the national stage and says stupid things, he is going to be called on them. When he does those things, he affects people in other states like me.

ROFLMAO

Why do they do it? Why do they love “ya-know” so much?

Why do self-appointed genius Democrats love to use
‘ya-know” so often, between every other word and in every sentence?
