Heres a news flash from FoxNation:
The Obama Administration plans to withdraw National Guard troops from the Texas, New Mexico and California borders by the end February under a new Southwest security plan, even as turmoil in Mexican border cities grows, according to documents obtained by The Washington Examiner. A letter sent to various members of the Texas Congressional delegation from Texas Gov. Rick Perrys office says, In February, 2011, the Texas, New Mexico, and California National Guard forces that were deployed to the border in September, 2010, under Presidents Obamas Southwest Border Augmentation Plan, will have 30 days to complete a total draw down of forces.
The roughly 550 troops will have the month of February to redeploy back to their units, Texas Congressman Ted Poe told The Examiner. Troops would not be pulled off the Arizona border under the plan, and about 100 of the troops would re-deploy there from other states, officials said.
Poe received the letter today. His office confirmed with Department of Homeland Security officials that the plan came from the administration.
Dont even ask me to guess why theyre doing this, because I dont know. Are we bringing the guard dog in from the henhouse as the foxes move in?
geeze...it took ‘em 3 months to get there....the last stragglers just showed up.
We have to be cool for two more years this POS is trying to cause a insurrection.
If this is true it is time for the GOVERNORS of the border states to call out the guard for the border.
0babowdown sounds the retreat? Will we hold the line at Boston or just scramble for the Canadian border?
Big Deal. Aren’t all their weapons locked up in the armory?
Good one, Paladin.
notice how he waiting till AFTER the election.
If the DREAM Act passes, troops and the border patrol will have nothing to do. Since all one has to do is file a claim that one is covered under the DREAM Act to prevent deportation until the case is heard, all an alien has to do is Xeorox off a DREAM Act claim form, cross the border, and hand it to the first cop he sees. Then there is nothing that can be done to him. The DREAM Act will have, effectively, erased the Southern Border
Words fail me as to how disgusting this is.
Meanwhile he has his TSA thugs molest innocent people at airports in the name of “security”.
I find it hard to believe nothing this man has done or not done can get him impeached.
The security of this country is first and foremost the job of the POTUS. This too appears to be above his paygrade.
Then the state would be forced to pay for their deployment, and I expect there would be serious issues about what they would be authorized to do. Policing the border isn't a state duty, and the courts seems to be making it difficult for the States to choose to enforce Federal law if the Feds won't do it themselves.
Time for Gov Rick Perry to call up the Texas State Militia to defend our southern border.
Obama’s assignment of National Guard troops to the border was a political feint anyway, and was never intended to do anything to stop illegal immigration or the drug cartels.
We’re on our own.
He needs them to reinforce the TSA agents at the airports.
The Guard is activated in two ways.
1) Title 10, Feds pays for it all!
2) Title 32, State pays for it all!
So if Gov. Perry (of Texas) doesn’t have the money, National Guard can’t be used.
We’d be better off if the Natl Guard worked the airports, and the TSA agents guarded the border.
The border might not get any better, but the airports would.
I guess 0bummer and Big Sis consider the border secured.
It’s all smoke and mirrors anyway.
Obama needs to withdraw TSA from all airports!!!
They were only there for the election ..they are no longer needed ... how sad that Americans are so gullible
Of course they are bringing them from the border to put in the airports to protect the TSA thugs. I mean we do need protection against the citizens of this country.
That’s what happens when you put an enigma in the WH and don’t have the stones and the will to investigate his origins. Being “cool” for another two years may just be the last nail in this country’s coffin.
The states are owned - with one hand in our pockets & the other held out to the feds.
I will never forgive those who voted for “the one” on 11/4/08.
The official slogan of La Raza - 'For Those Inside the Race, everything, for those outside the race, nothing.'
Policing the border isn't a state duty, and the courts seems to be making it difficult for the States to choose to enforce Federal law if the Feds won't do it themselves.
Yada, yada, yada...all wound up in complexity, while the invasion runs full speed ahead.
Comes a time when a people have to defend their land, no matter the artificial constraints and impediments forced upon them by a weak and treasonous government.
If the state fails their citizens by failing to protect them from invasion (as clearly demanded by the Constitution), should the people simply allow themselves to be destroyed, as a result?
I say, NO! Assign that government a condition of TREASON, and do whatever it takes to secure life, property, and liberty. Deal with the government traitors later.
The Governor has a constitutional right to call up the citizen militia at any time. If the federal government won’t send the National Guard, he can call on the citizens to defend their own state from invasion.
They aren't completely artificial. It is important for our own freedom that our different levels of government have limitations on their power, sepecially when it comes to ordering the military around.
It is the role of the Federal Government, and the problem is that not enough voters are taking the issue seriously enough and that they keep electing socially liberal politicians (Bush included) who won't protect our borders and enforce controlled and legal immigration.
It MUST be done at the federal level, and there hasn't been a presidential candidate from either party in the last three elections that came anywhere close to winning even their party primary that was serious about securing our border.
It's an issue that many Americans want addressed, but apparently they don't feel strongly enough to have it be one of the most important issues in how they vote.
Until that changes, we aren't going to see major policy changes.
You’re not getting it.
The federal government is in a state of treason to its citizens. One of the few enumerated duties that the Constitution sets forth for the federal government, is that of protecting American citizens from invasion. They have clearly failed in that primary responsibility.
Not only that, they have attacked a state which dared to exert their God-given right to defend themselves from that same invasion, when the federal government refused to do its duty.
The American people’s right to self-defense supersedes the Constitution and every local, state, and federal statute. I think you understand that our rights are NOT conferred by the state, but by the Creator.
You can argue that the federal government holds legal jurisdiction over our international boundaries all you like, but if that government willfully refuses to uphold their responsibility to protect us, then all bets are off.
The border guvs should immediately deputize any vet, ex-cop or holder of a carry license (for starters) and authorize them to own full autos. That’ll both solve the firepower disparity between the drug gangs and us plain folks and also cause hoplophobic heads around the nation to explode.
Thank you! Someone out there is hearing me.
It could even be better than that. Texas, for example, has a LOT of gunsmiths, gun makers and metal shops. Think of how the state economy would benefit from making 500,000 happy switches.
Now you're talkin'.
This open borders crap has got to stop. It's destroying the nation. The American people have every right to put a stop to it themselves, if their government won't defend and protect them.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gov Perry's email is flooded by emails tomorrow, demanding that he call up the citizen militia. I may just shoot one off myself. Let's see if he's got the stones to live up to all the swagger.
We aren't facing a real invasion. We are facing piss poor border control and piss poor immigration control. Even though we can justifiably argue that our government isn't enforcing immigration laws, in reality we always face having law enforcement and prosecution being limited by resources, and allocating those resources is the responsibility of congress and using those resources within the discression allowed by congress is the role of the executive branch.
Congress has a long habit of talking tough on some topics, passing laws that should help address the issues, and then underfunding them because while they want to appear tough on the topic, the issue doesn't have enough priority with them to actually get fully funded.
It's irritating as hell that they do it, but it is completely within their constitutional authority to do it. It's not treason. It's not unconstitutional. It's not illegal. It's political. For some of them it may be an act of dishonesty. For others, it's just a matter of dealing with unlimited desires and limited resources.
The American peoples right to self-defense supersedes the Constitution and every local, state, and federal statute. I think you understand that our rights are NOT conferred by the state, but by the Creator.
Pulling these small number of troops that weren't doing a whole hardly interferes with our right to defend ourselves. It may make a relatively small number of people less safe.
I would greately prefer our government put a more sizable force along the border with rules of engagement that actually allowed them to be more effective. Even better would be to increase the size of the border patrol and borrow from other federal law enforcement agencies, since most of the problem is a law enforcement issue, not a military one, and it is better that our military not be used for law enforcement.
However, too many of our politicians either don't want to deal with the immigration issues, or don't consider it a high enough priority. They also can't really deal with the smuggling issues without addressing the immigration issues, and the smuggling issues apparently haven't raised the stakes enough to get them to do something about it. They haven't raised the political stakes enough. We can get pissed off all we want, but we must be in the minority, because the politicians who refuse to address the problem are still in office. As long as they remain there, then it obviously isn't important enough to enough of the American people.
We have to vote them out of office. Irate rants about how we must arm ourselves against the problem aren't going to solve the problem, and advocating armed insurrection against our government does start to border on treason.
We do have a right to freedom of speech, but such words can come back to haunt you, so be careful of how you say things. I don't think you stepped over that line here, but I've seen enough others that have. I'm not suggesting anyone stop opposing how the government is handling immigration, or even stop being really, really pissed off about it.
The only way we are going to cause change however is to change the politicians, or to make it obvious to them that if they don't change the laws and allocate the resources, they will be replaced with someone who will.
I beg to disagree. It's been well-understood for over two centuries, that America is impervious to military invasion, which is why we've never seen it tried.
On the other hand, if you were an enemy state with the long-term goal of bringing the US down, you'd have to adopt an asymmetrical, unconventional style of warfare to get the job done.
Simply displacing, and eventually outnumbering the citizens of the United States with your own people would certainly serve, if this was your purpose.
The point is, the US is being taken down by illegal immigration, whether by design, or by happenstance; ergo, what is occurring can absolutely be defined as an invasion.
We are facing piss poor border control and piss poor immigration control.
Yes, we are, and this is an extension of the treason I mentioned in my last post. It matters not whether politicians feel that border security is a high or low priority. It's one of the few duties that they are directly tasked with, per the US Constitution.
For our government to fail in this signature responsibility, is a grave and serious betrayal of the public trust. Given the fact that Washington has the power to put a complete stop to this, yet has not, indicates that they have CHOSEN to shirk this responsibility. That is betrayal after trust, which is the very definition of TREASON.
I agree with you, that the best cure is to simply vote out the traitors in office, and if November 2nd is any indication of where we're headed, I'd say that they will be, in time.
It's my hope that after the lame duck session of congress, we'll see this issue addressed in a way that actually produces some concrete result. Perhaps a clarification of the 14th Amendment should be on the front burner. I think it should.
I'd also like to see something done to shut down illegal incursions on the border, whether by the border states, or by the feds. Actually, I'm all for seeing the border Governors use their constitutional power to call up the citizen militia to deal with the problem, if that's what it takes.
I fervently hope that more states pass Arizona-style anti-illegal immigration laws in the next two years, in addition to bills such as California's Prop 187 (denies gov't benefits to illegals). We really need to adopt that carrot-and-stick approach everywhere, to put a serious dent in illegal immigration.
