A New Way to Look at Illegal Immigration: The Story of Mario Benitez
Chicago Elections 2011 ^ | 11/23/2010 | Michael Volpe

Mario Benitez never thought it would come to do this, but as of November 9th, 2010, he received his final deportation notice from an immigration judge in Florida. Benitez has already filed an appeal to be heard December 9th, but because of his final order ICE can deport him at any time. Benitez has lived in this country legally since he was three years old in 1972. Worse yet, he witnessed KROME, the ICE detention facility in Miami that he’s being held at, release about one hundred illegal immigrants at the end of September. In fact, if you believe Benitez, every conservative’s nightmare is coming true, backdoor amnesty.

“Benitez has lived in this country legally since he was three years old in 1972.”

Okay. . .so, ICE is going to deport someone here legally? Hm. . . .let's take a look at this.

“The story starts in 1972 when Benitez, then three, came to the States with his family from Mexico.”

Did they come here legally?

If not, he is not here legally.

If they did come legally, they over-stayed their visa and he is here illegally.

This story is nuts and misrepresenting the situation.

Any refusal to secure the border and deport all Illegal Aliens is Amnesty.

If you are not fighting amnesty...you are supporting it

Let's assume the article is correct and his family came here legally. He made two huge mistakes. First, was never getting his citizenship. If he was a naturalized citizen he couldn't be deported. Second, he committed a crime while he was an LPR. That is grounds for deportation and always has been.

This guy and his family were just plain lazy when it came to their immigration status. He should have been working on his citizenship a long time ago. Instead he only got his green card when he was 22. What were he and his family doing the other 19 years?

You probably didn’t finish the story. He’s here legally. He’s being deported because he committed a felony and isn’t a citizen.

LOL. now what would happen if every legit entrant brings out every single “body”that wishes entry to the USA ,but being they’re law abiding has simply stayed behind or has been waiting for years ?
I think it’s time that not only our chain of immigration is reopened but all waiting in the Philipines,India etc should simply come out on a visa
and
do exactly like they do.
overstay
and get this shamnesty.
euro, asian, all of them- our family reunification.
Be a libtards nightmare. instant nonhisspanic majority of educated people.

Obviously, this situation is entirely of his own making. The point is that ICE makes him, a legal resident alien, a higher priority than those that came here illegally.

Correct. Committing a felony tends to do that.

Even now, removing people who lied about their nazi associations to gain admission into this country has a higher priority than removing the millions of illegals who came here to live off the government teat and, in many cases, either stole or borrowed identities to aid in the process.

While I have no sympathy for former nazi prison camp guards, I must marvel at the efficiency of ICE being able to track down these people who came here mainly in the late 1940's and early 1950's and yet are unable to find Islamonazis who came here after 9-11.

Where there is a will, there is a way. Where there is no will, there is no way.

The sad part is that this is all driven by Administration policy.

Under Bush the ICE criminal deportation groups would show up at a house with an arrest warrant for a criminal alien. They would only be able to take that one guy out of a house that was obviously full of illegals.

Under Obama ICE conducted an investigation against an auto parts manufacturer in NW Washington. After hundreds of hours of case work they executed a warrant and arrested 30+ illegals. The Administration gave them all work permits and cut them lose.

yeah, you are right. Too fed up with the bias in the article to finish. That said, I now went a little further and he is not a citizen and in this case, should be deported because he is a felon.

Not a higher priority, just an easier target.

Remmember, Big Sis says ICE primary mission is not to go after illegals, but terrorists. I guess we are lucky they went after him at all. . .

30+ illegals. . .heck, the Border Patrol snags hundreds at a time and they do it by patrolling the desert. Sheesh. . .and ICE expects a pat on the back when they “catch” 30.

Not really the point of my post. My point is that politicians make it impossible for agencies like ICE and Border Patrol to enforce the law.

So lets give Border Patrol a pat on the back. They are catching hundreds crossing the desert, while thousands get by.
