I wonder about Herman Cain the President.
I fear the GOP will put up a black candidate or a woman candidate just to show we are diverse as well, rather than putting up the BEST candidate.
Not to say Herman Cain couldn't BE the best candidate, I don't know enough about him to make that decision almost 2 years out. I will however keep him in mind.

Herman Cain ran against Isakson in the Senate Georgia primary and at the time I didn’t know much about either of them but it was a heated battle here on FR with each having dedicated supporters swearing up and down one was the real conservative. Isakson won the primary.
I’ve watched them both since. Wish Cain had won.
Yeah, there is the possibility because of race everyone could jump up and down and say he is the one. Except this is a guy who has been very active in conservative circles and in the emerging tea Party movement near the start. Unlike Obama, he even had a credible resume though he lacks a state wide politial office to his credit. However his business resume demonstrates he has the qualification to run a large enterprise very well.
I’m keeping my options open but Cain would be a worthwhile candidate to add to the list. He’d also fit that out of the box unforeseen candidate I’ve expected to emerge this cycle. There may be one or two more that come along too. I’m not convinced people are satisfied with the known choices and if ever someone new was going to enter the fold this would be the election for it to happen.
