The tsa is doing all a disservice.

The key to success is not inconveniencing and violating people privacy/perceived freedoms (right or wrong, perceptions are hard to argue).

The tsa has likely not accomplished much with their x-ray machines or enhanced pat downs, but the damage done to law enforcement the fuse of fighting or preventing terrorism is real.

This is one of those cases where executive management should have said, “yes this is theoretically technologically possible, it could possibly accomplish something, somewhere, somehow, likely through more of a deterrent effect that actually catching a real bad actor, but the damage we will do to our reputation, the law enforcement community at large and the decay caused in public support does not justify these intrusive measures.”

The tsa did no one a favor with this. But I'm sure it briefed well on power point.

The reaction of onlookers was consistent with, “Oh I feel so much safer now.”
I honestly believe if they beat and murder a small child during a pat down fellow travellers would agree that he got what he deserved and they feel much safer knowing that TSA agents are protecting them from terrorist tots.

Sadly, but these “on lookers” should be the first ones locked up if there’s a “next” revolution. They would all be snitches.

I hope somebody eventually sues and gets this to the court. The court has already ruled that in order to be searched the cop must have cause and not just a hunch.

Finally, if the republicans were a true conservative party defunding of the TSA would be one of the first things they’d do. And remember, the republicans controlled all three branches when this thing was created. ALL BY RINOS!

Your Democrats and your democrat Obama have absolute power now. These TSA regulations were done under Obama and democrats.

Republicans stopped the Dream act and your democrat Amnesty voters act for all this decade.Republicans ,when they get a simple majority in House in 2011, Republicans plan to attack the FCC and EPA who are destroying the Country.

Republicans never had a super majority and you try to blame Republicans for the only agency created when Republicans had only a simple majority right after 9/11. You shill for democrats/socialism .Where is your criticism of democrats as they have had a super majority in Congress for a few years now , the presidency etc. .

Uh, this headline is misleading. It was 3 Austin PD officers, not TSA.

Our side is supposed to be the one that relies on facts.

Ugghh. Now Obama and the crats are ‘helping’ the middle class. Oh No! The poor middle class will soon join the poor and then Obama can help the Rich...become poor. I have heard not a peep out of the MSM and Crats about the poor lately. This tells me something. The commies are out to destroy the middle class.

We are way too quick to trade liberty for a false sense of security in this country. Our founding fathers would be appalled at the nanny security state we have become

Our founding fathers would have started shooting by now!

I’m surprised you didn’t put BATFE high on that list.

And as I recall from high school English, the past tense of ‘to drag’ is ‘dragged’ not ‘drug.’

Let’s just pretend for a moment that I’m a fanatical muslim extremist intent on blowing up and killing 100 or so infidels as well as myself.

Why should I bother with blowing up an airplane? Why can’t I just wait in an airport security queue like the one shown in this news story and detonate myself while standing in the middle of the lines? Wouldn’t it accomplish the same thing, plus have the added benefit of a huge mess at the airport for everyone to see?

Muslims blow themselves up all over Iraq and other countries without needing to be in an airplane to do it. Just seems to me like we are making it easier, not harder for them when we all huddle together in a security line.

Words that bear repeating:

It is a waste of time. They don't give a damn whether we like it or not. And as far as demandig that they do something. Demand in one hand and shit in the other hand and see which one gets full first. This is not the same Country now that it once was. The parasires ana leeches thorigh their votes for " freebies" have turned it over to some wicked people. i put freebies in quotation marks bucause all it cost them was their soul. Unfortunately, it has cost us our freedom and the concept to be considered innocent until we have been convicted of a crime.

Use the simple approach. Don't like it, don't fly.

Unless and until I see people refuse to fly - the airports and airplanes empty - then people have, in the main, chosen to accept matters as they are.

Don't like TSA? Want a protest that will get someone's attention? Then don't fly!

Now...let's hear the whines...something like...

a) But I gots to travel fer ma job! b) But I gots to see my fambly!

On the job, get creative. Most companies are delighted to cut travel costs. On seeing the family, drive. Or not.

Now you've done it. Next will be the security lines to get into the airport building. Then security lines to get into the airport parking garage. Followed soon by the security to leave your house. Then the cameras in your house.

But NEVER just profile Muslim terrorists.

Hey, all I’m saying is W and the republicans caved to the dems when the TSA was first started. They could have blocked funding in the house. But they didn’t dare since one of their own was in the WH asking that liberties be taken away with the patriot act.

Hell, everybody knows what the democrats want to do. I’m just wondering if the republicans don’t want the same thing. There are things they could do to stop this TSA over reaching. Most of the time all they do is talk. It always amazes me how the dem leaders can get their people to vote in lock step but the gop can’t seem to get two rinos on board.

Where is the Americans with Disabilities Act? Disabled people, those with prostheses, metal joints, plates and pins, wheel chairs and other medically necessary items are being specifically targeted, apparently as being more likely to be terrorists than any other group.
