If you’d ever taken the time to really read up on Malcolm’s life, you’d understand that he went through a kind of street hustler period in his life, and that dying his (already dirty red) hair wasn’t at all strange for the world he moved in.
Lots of the women in my family have that dirty blonde or brown stuff, and they’ve been dying it on and off for most of their lives. Even some guys do. Done right, it looks a whole lot better than what they were born with.
The fact is, Malcolm’s natural hair wasn’t black or deep dark brown, like most black people’s. It also wasn’t the sort of flaming red that’s normal for pure caucasian red heads.
Perhaps the problem is simply that the question was too subtle for you? The inference was that if zero let his hair grow out it would be RED.
Why? Because MX has been reported as having RED hair.
HE DIDN’T. HE DYED HIS HAIR. So, if zero let his hair grow out, it wouldn’t matter if it grew down to his knees, IT WOULD NOT BE RED.

And as I have already pointed out, the colour of the hair of your relatives is of no interest to me what-so-ever.
You're just not getting this. Malcolm X didn't have the sort of red hair that you may be accustomed to. Like all American blacks, he was the product of a long line of mixed ancestry.
Sometimes, the genes for light eyes, hair, or skin pop up in black families. My own is a prime example. Skin, hair, and eye colors in my family range from the darkest, to the very lightest.
When these recessive genes pop up in black children, they're normally suppressed somewhat by their more dominant genes, which causes a sort of blending to occur. In the case of hair color, this normally results in a 'dirty', mixed shade that is neither light, nor dark. It's just 'dirty', although one can clearly see the recessive color.
This is the sort of hair that Malcolm had, which is clearly evidenced in the photo you posted.
I am black, and am intimately familiar with the sort of genetics that produces 'red' hair in black people. I've got two kids with blue eyes, and both have 'dirty' brown hair. My brother has the same sort of 'red' hair that Malcolm had, yet my personal, intimate knowledge of what we're talking about is of no interest to you.

I beg to disagree with you about mannerisms. These are more a product of one's environment, developed from emulation of relatives or others - either conscious or subconscious. Could be that Zero had studied Malcolm X and tried to emulate him, without any blood relationship between them.
And if his true birthday was around December 1959, or January 1960, he would have been conceived in the spring of 1959...when MX wasn’t in the US, and Stanley Ann Dunham was somewhere in high school.

Even twins who have been separated at birth and meet later in life often find they share very similar mannerisms, types of gestures, facial expressions, likes and dislikes, and so on. Same thing with parents and children, it certainly isn’t invariably so, but commonly so.
Nurture and genetics both play a part.
I agree with Fred Nerks. I used to think that Stanley had to be the mother due to the chin factor. But other than the first photo of Zero (supposedly at the Harvard library or something similiar, IIRC), none of the other photos of Zero have actually a similar chin. The shape of Zero’s face and SAD’s face do not resemble each other at all.
It’s funny - once I allowed my mind to stop clinging to the idea that Zero had to be the child of Stanley and the Kenyan and looked just at evidence - and lack of evidence - and read the entire Auntie thread, things really fell into place for me.
I think his entire life is fabricated, as far as parentage. Made up out of whole cloth. Total fraud.
Jawline is actually dissimilar. Zero’s is more pointy and narrow on the sides.
Compare Zero to MX and the resemblance is striking.
