I am noticing some trends. I am starting this thread to see if the same thing is happening nationwide and to what extent.
---1500 Applications for one job Unemployment being turned down with former employees lying and saying misconduct and the broke state (s) back the employer ( MY assumption:The States are broke.)
---Jobs of all pay scales having a numerous amount of applicants and background and soft credit checks being performed.
--This is going to be a complete devastating disaster.As... if you don't have a job, you can't get unemployment, you don't pay bills so there is no where to turn; applying for jobs and losing them because Sam Hill has a better credit Score by maybe one point.
DISCUSS and please report if this is happening in your area and
FUBO!
If you have no job you are unemployed.
Anybody have a current link or map of the best and worst states for employment?
The sooner we get rid of Obama, the sooner our US economy will turn around.
It is the Obama administration and his commie cohorts in the Senate that are holding the country back as far as jobs are concerned.
Abd make no mistake. It is purposeful.
Really? Thanks for that.

Let’s see now...companies can hire someone in a foreign land and pay around $2 per day. Or they can hire someone in the U.S. and pay around $8 per hour or more. What are they going to do?
Many people speak of inflation - but right now, there are many workers, both within the U.S. and around the world, seeking each job. That means deflation. It will get worse.
We are, presently, in a balance sheet recession - which is very different from a typical business-cycle recession. It is, at best, only half-way finished. We are likely to see another recession in late 2011, early 2012. Unemployment will go up. (To understand this new type of recession, see the text “This time is different” by Rogoff).
By the way - GDP = G + I + C + Net Exports, with G standing for government spending, I for investment, and C for consumption. If spending gets cut, we will get a recession. Of course, if we don’t cut spending, the outcome will be even worse...
I am almost as brilliant as Obama.
I looked at my folding patio chair label it is MADE IN CHINA everything is MADE IN CHINA.
Why can’t I get my mortgage paid, free energy efficient windows and a roof, cell phone, and use a welfare card to buy steaks, booze n cigars? Oh and I am a farmer I planted a gardenia so where is my 50K?
It’s the DEMS/Libs/Commies....gotta bunch to rid ourselves of....it’s NOT just the One...
Not sufficient according to the gubmint. You have to have no job but be looking for a job. If you've given up looking, you're not in the number.
I have been applying for jobs like mad. I graduated college but have serious credit problems as a result. If depression and panic attacks aren’t enough, the replies to my job applications are ALL saying “we’re sorry, but we’re continuing to look for other qualified candidates.” You’re hypothesizing that I can’t get a job because of my credit history? I’ve never thought of that. I was told that if I graduated college, I could get any job I wanted. But graduating college put me into debt. So I can’t get a job because I’m in debt because I went to college. You’re right, FUBARACK O!
I think the credit checks have something to do with the enormous slack in the employment market. I was looking for a job not too long ago and I have never been treated like a side of beef as I was. Employers can be very picky in this kind of job market, and they are.
I see your point, though. If someone has a problem with being laid off and have problems keeping up with the bills or have to file bankruptcy it just makes it all that much harder to bounce back.
There’s other things to do though. If a real job can’t be found one can at least try to make their own.
You would not be turned down because you have college debts. Almost every graduate is in that boat.
Hang in there. I remember having scores of letters declining my offers to work for companies and pounding the cold Chicago pavements thirty odd years ago and eventually it worked out. Things will work out for your. Perhaps you should consider moving to an area where employment is relatively strong.
And now the government is telling companies where they can and cannot relocate to. Why the hell would any company want to stay here in the US with the kind of central planning that would have made the Soviets envious?
1:) “Lost a job, but can’t get unemployment because co-workers and management say I was doing something wrong.” I have a friend that lost his job as he lost his temper and said some unkind words to a co-worker. The co-worker and bosses made it more than what it was according to him, but who knows. But witnessess to the event would not speak up for fear of losing their jobs. As I said, who knows, but I imagine that employers might be looking for reasons to fire folks, rather than just “laying” them off. (Does firing a person affect the company’s unemployment rate fee still?).
2) For college grads never having a job - can they collect unemployment? Would seem to me that they couldn’t.
3) When I was in college, all of the rejection letters we would get got put to good use. The local bar would allow one letter a night for a free beer!
Yes, it’s called a depression, and - BS government assurances notwithstanding - America’s been in one for about two years now.

#24 Only 66.8% of American men had a job last year. That was the lowest level that has ever been recorded in all of U.S. history.
You musst appeal and cause as much trouble for the commies as you can.
I’m guessing you mean appeal the firing? My friend hired a lawyer and tried that, although I don’t think it was in front of a judge or anything. Just a meeting with the firm’s management and the employees in his group.
He can say the wrong things at the wrong time, and not sure of the details. Too bad too. He had spent many years floating between dumb jobs trying to make ends meet. He was probably three years with this company - a Casino - and had been making his way up the ladder. Was in landscaping, then ran a landscaping crew, then ran an inside maintenance crew, and was currently one of three guys doing electronics maintenance on all of the casino machines.
More pointedly, why would any company wish to hire anyone?
Lots of employees....lots of problems.
A few employees...a few problems.
No employees...no problems!
“Does firing a person affect the companys unemployment rate fee still?”
I worked in taking UC claims for a lot of years. If the claim does not result in a payment, it has no effect on the employer’s unemployment tax rate. In other words, if you quit and do not have what the government considers “good cause” or if you are fired for what the government rules to be “gross misconduct”, the employer does not get affected. There are an incredible number of picky rules that result in more than half the people who lose their jobs getting nothing.
Sad. As I’ve said I also see everyone turned down for unemploment of recent when there was no ‘misconduct.’Lawyers are making $ telling the person they have a case for a phone hearing and the former employer’s lies win.
(The states are broke) Cushy little deals going on.
Don’t take this the wrong way but the job market right now is not even what it was 30 years ago. It is brutal.
Also re: college debts on a credit report.... In a staxk of 1500 applicants it could come down to whoever has the highest credit score.
Also who, what, when and where started the looking at credit reports for car insurance? Liability is required by law and fined if lapsed.
The only thing not held against someone now is buying a car they won’t hold medical bills against you on a credit report.
You need a job to buy a car.
Oh, there is no doubt that the economy now is worse than 1977. Inflation is not as bad but unemployment is close to twice what it was then.
On another subject did you read Gen. Sada’s book? He described the mission Saddam sent into Syria with the WMDs.
