Posted on 05/28/2011 1:34:06 PM PDT by John Semmens
Earlier this month a SWAT team burst into the home of Jose Guereña. Awaken by his wifes screams that armed men were breaking into the house, Guereña grabbed his rifle to defend his family. The SWAT team shot him 60 times. As Guereña lay bleeding, they blocked paramedics from tending to his wounds. An hour later he died.
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blamed the baleful influence of right wing talk radio for the death. If it werent for the repeated assertions by talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh that people have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms this tragedy would never have occurred, Dupnik argued. When people other than law enforcement agents are armed these kinds of mishaps are inevitable.
Though Guereña never fired his weapon, in fact the safety was still on when he was shot by multiple sheriffs deputies, Dupnik insisted that the killing was warranted. Guereña lived in a bad neighborhood, Dupnik claimed. That alone creates a presumption of guilt. A guy with a gun in a bad neighborhood is a threat. My men had every right to take him down.
The fact that Guereña was a Marine who had served two tours in Iraq was used to bolster Dupniks case. Look, a Marine with a weapon represented a severe danger to my men, Dupnik said. If they hadnt fired first he probably wouldve killed them all. It was only quick thinking that saved the day.
As for blocking the paramedics, Dupnik maintained that the hours delay was necessitated by the need for a search of the premises to ensure that there were no other gunmen, guns, or drugs to be dealt with. If that means a suspect has to bleed while we do it, so be it.
No other gunmen, guns, or contraband of any sort were found in the home. Guereñas wife and two children were in the house during the raid. Fortunately, the SWAT team refrained from shooting them.
Is he stuck on stupid?
Yeah, I bet the Sheriff really cared. But the sad part is how immature and seriously so full of themselves plenty of these cops on the news are. My only thought about this sheriff is that he screwed up big time.
He lives in a rough part of America... that alone is cause for a presumption of guilt, right Dupenagel?
John you are the King of Political Satire!
Sounds like cold blooded first degree murder of a righteous veteran to me. Maybe the locals should elect a patriot prosecutor who will file MURDER ONE CHARGES against those NWO traitor “cops” as his first official act after being sworn in.
Just a thought....
It’s impossible to overstate my revulsion for this Dupnik a-hole. He needs as much publicity as we can give him...
Well so much for my theory that it was Bush’s fault.
” Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik ......”
Is a friggin L U N A T I C
If that doesn't casue yu to go buy more ammo, nothing will. When 71 rounds are fired and only 21 hit the target at point blank range, those pulling the triggers are the last ones in the world that should have guns.
Sheriff Dupnik is the same clown who also tried to pin the Rep. Gifford shootings in Tucson on talk radio. Turns out the shooter, Jared Loughner, not only did not listen to talk radio, but has now been found mentally incompetent to stand trial. The good people of Pima County deserve a better better sheriff than this idiot.
You had me going for the first two paragraphs then I looked at who posted this!
This clown is in serious CYA mode!
“citizens shouldn’t have guns”
“It’s Rush’s fault”
“He might have killed us all”
How about telling America WTF you were doing there in the first place!??!?!?!
Did you find ANYTHING TO SUBSTANTIATE THE WARRANT?
You should write for MSNBC. I’d love to see these stories on the news. You know that the networks would believe them (because they are all true in a liberal’s mind) and re-report them as fact.
I’ll take my chances with criminals and terrorists before I accept a police state that is permitted legalized murder. At least when criminal perps break into my home I can take them out.
When the police break in on any whim that they may have, inhabitants must kneel down before they massacre you, just like the SS in Germany. We need to put a halt to reckless wanton crimes of breaking entering private homes by police for anything other than a mission of saving lives and victims. These drug busts don’t cut it and are jeopardizing and taking innocent lives, for what?
Good blog btw. We need politicians and a media that puts liberty ahead of the smoke screen that is covering up the incessant move towards fascism by a beholden power hungry government (Right & Left) that portrays everything a bigger threat so they get more power.
I bit on another one!
I know this semi-satire is here, and yet, this sounded so plausible that I bit again!
But! But! Never Sheriff Clarence Dupnik's fault! He's a dimocrat you know. Dimocrats are good people! /sarcasm
I caught ya on the first sentence on this one. Ha.
I know - it’s because Sarah Palin just bought a home in Arizona!
John, even two years ago this would have been sufficiently over the top to push the edges of satire.
Today, several Freepers clearly aren’t catching that it is satire. These are smart people, and they believe this is wholly plausible.
That right there tell us what kind of a failed police state aka thugocracy we now live in...
"If it werent for the repeated assertions by talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh that people have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms this tragedy would never have occurred, Dupnik argued. When people other than law enforcement agents are armed these kinds of mishaps are inevitable."
This has to be a satire! If not, why is Arizona sitting on their hands and keeping this sheriff in office? Whoever commanded that SWAT team should be fired, and the rest of the team should be taken off the job without pay until it is determined they are safe to work again.
We are celebrating a national holiday Monday to honor those who died so that our citizens can have rights, such as the right to keep and bear arms. Now we have an American veteran who has died on our soil because of that right. And the people of Pima County, Arizona have a sheriff who is spitting on that right.
Sheriff Dumbshit and his murderous band of SWAT wannabes. It was
the leftist Dumbshit who is responsible. Nothing on any broadcast
radio authorized his employees to murder that man. Dumbshit and his
lackeys should be arrested and tried for first degree murder.
Dumbshit repeated failed to deal with Loughner. Loughner’s mommy
works for the county. Apparently that was sufficient reason for Dumbshit
to not pursue complaints from school officials about his psychotic
behavior in college classrooms. Giffords shoule sue him for negligence.
Ditto for all the survivors of Loughner’s shooting spree.
Maybe, or maybe there is more to the story than the reactionary forces around here would care to accept. How did his wife know that armed men were invading the house if they were both in the bedroom?
This one is damn near scary!
Tell me this is satire . . .
Crazy old bast*rd shouldn’t be anywhere near a gun himself.
"The investigation that lead to the service of the search warrants on May 5 is a complicated one involving multiple people suspected of very serious crimes. Sometimes, law enforcement agencies must choose between the desire of the public to quickly know details, and the very real threat to innocent lives if those details are released prematurely. Sheriff Dupnik has made it a departmental policy to be open and forthcoming with information released to the news media. When the decision is made to withhold information, as it has been in this case, there is a legitimate reason for that decision. The day the search warrant was served, we reported to the media that Mr. Guarena fired at SWAT officers. This is what was understood at that time. After a more detailed investigation, we learned that he pointed his assault rifle at SWAT officers, however, the safety was on and he could not fire. This is a clear example of erroneous information being provided without careful investigation. Rather than risking the release of further information, it is imperative that we complete all aspects of this investigation. Complicating matters is the fact that multiple agencies were involved in this incident..."
Blah, blah, blah... In other words we don't have any friggin' idea what we are doing and so we will stall as long as possible and hope people forget about this major screw up that led to the death on an innocent man.
Too early for jokes.
Indiana just past a bill that lets police enter your house without any warning for any or no reason. Foresee a hike in police uniforms.
Satire isn’t a joke. It’s a valuable weapon to expose and fight the police state and thugocracy. To be effective to that end, it must be contemporaneous.
And it is effective, which is why most thugocracies ban it in the name of “fairness” or like life. See “Net Neutrality.”
Wasn’t that a judge’s ruling?
Look, a Marine with a weapon represented a severe danger to my men, Dupnik said. If they hadnt fired first he probably wouldve killed them all. It was only quick thinking that saved the day.
Heh heh, you gotta admit, this is probably closer to truth than fiction John.
A democRAT judge, I believe.
Well done John, but what a tough one to satarize. SHEESH!
How much of this is satire? What was the swat team there for originally?
As Dr. Evil would say, ‘I need the info.’
He was aiming a gun at law enforcement? That’s a dangerous thing to do... and I’ll bet the officers were yelling out who they were. This does NOT make the case against gun ownership.
There’s no evidence he was waving a gun at them. They had sunglasses on looking in, and it sounds like the “big gun” was planted by SWAT. You didn’t watch the video of the jackboots beating down the door without identifying themselves, did you? Their “siren” sounded more like a few second car alarm.
As it stands right now, it is my belief that Jose Guereña was murdered by that SWAT team.
Every encounter with law enforcement, no matter where, no matter when, is potentially deadly. Stay unarmed if LEOs are involved.
To be honest I thought it was real at first, because in reality it is too damn close to reality to be satire.
I’m afraid that we Americans don’t quite understand that our country has been hijacked by forces that believe our Constitution is about some penciled comments on a piece of paper, easily erased and modified, and that protection from the forces of fictitious evil is more important than freedom.
The Egyptians understand a lot more than we do about this and what it takes to get and keep freedom. We Americans think it is about having a right to watch the NFL or Dancing With The Stars at will while everything else from our privacy to home security is A-OK to sacrifice.
Satire post, but that’s a good serious question.
This all happened around 9:00 AM, long after the sun comes up in Tucson. Guerena had just worked a night shift at a copper mine, and was sleeping in a back bedroom.
His wife was in a front bedroom with one of their two sons. She saw someone looking into the window, got scared, and yelled to her husband.
