There are those who love freedom of expression, as long as its not conservatives who are doing the expressing. Just ask Glenn Beck. On radio Tuesday, he told the stunning story of how he and his family were harassed during an outdoor movie in New York Citys Bryant Park.
For those unfamiliar with Bryant Park, it hosts weekly showings of classic films during the summer months. Attendees bring blankets and picnic dinners and sprawl out on the parks great lawn while watching the films on a giant screen.
As Beck explained, he attended Monday nights public showing of Alfred Hitchcocks The 39 Steps with his wife and daughter. During the film, he was ridiculed, had someone kick a cup of wine on his wife and on his blanket, and even witnessed another person stand up and yell, We hate conservatives here!
These people were some of the most hateful people I have ever seen, Beck said. All I wanted to do is go out on a blanket with my family and have dinner in the afternoon sun and sit around Americans, not like-minded Americans, and just watch a movie in the park. And last night at about‑‑ when the movie was just about over, my wife and I got out because it was hostile.
Later, when Beck left near the end of the movie, the crowd applauded.

If the same happened to me, I'm not sure I would just let it happen. I've never been on to "turn the other cheek" nor back down when being threatened.
Quite frankly I'm getting down right fed up with this liberal tolerance crap. We outnumber them, yet we back down to their actions, defer to their rules and put up with their crap. We let them get their foot in the door, now look where we are. Anyway I digress, that's a slightly different topic.
That said given Glenn's propensity of over-dramatizing some events makes me wonder what really happened.
This sort of thing happens when you’re a well-known entertainer.
Another case made for Upstatehood.
Felt that way for a number of years now.

Until, of course it happens to YOUR family. Then it’s no longer high drama.
The demented LIEberals will miss us when we are gone. Their ‘Imagined’ world of Nirvana will be a hellhole of despair of their own choosing. Ain’t gonna be pretty folks.
What did he expect to have happen in the armpit of America? There is no way I would be wandering around in NYC with my family if I were a famous right winger.
Conservative is the new Black.
I'll second that!
In the large cities on the coasts and in the ohio-missisippi valley, we do not outnumber them. Nationwide, yes, but in most large cities, no. Once you get outside city limits of those urban entities with >500,000 population, things get a lot more conservative.
Why is he going without bodyguards??
It must be pretty bad sometimes. The Idiot that played the mob boss on the sopranos actually apologized for what he said to Glenn in front of his son.
If a liberal thinks they’ve gone over the line, you know its bad.
The leftist mob is similar to the radical islamist mob, without the beheadings.
Not in NYC.
FWIW, I wouldn't dream of treating even Michael Moore this way.

Yea true. I'm just thinking of his hospital visit and his "going blind".
To be fair I think he's downplayed past security issues and threats though.
I felt bad for Beck’s daughter. Liberals are such evil, demented pigs.
We hate conservatives here!
‘...because we liberals are tolerant enlightened people and conservatives are hateful and intolerant. That’s why we hate them and won’t tolerate them.’
Sometimes the irony is so thick that you couldn’t cut it with a chain saw.
