TJ was but one of the many founders. One often quoted by non-believers because of his diest beliefs. God only knows whether he made it through the pearly gates. One day, I will know. I hope he is there along with those who blaspheme with their banners.

Too bad. If I had more influence, this country might not be so liberal. Do not equate atheism with liberalism. However, do realize that religious conservative denigration of atheists can help drive atheists to the liberal side. You only hurt all of us.

Okay, so I’m sitting here watching Americans joke about the cold-blooded murder of other Americans for desiring to peacefully express their views on religion. Easy to see who’s on the moral high-ground here, and it’s not the Christians.

I'd bet that's true, partially because of alienation by conservatives. Why should atheists side with a group who considers atheists to be second-class citizens, somewhat in the way Muslims look at minority Christians? But there's nothing inherent in atheism that points to liberalism. The seminal atheist work Atlas Shrugged isn't exactly the liberals' Bible.

It is true that the vast majority of atheists are liberals, it is natural for someone that does not believe in God to reject so much of conservatism, that only a relatively small number of atheists that like conservative economics could bring themselves to join with conservatives and traditional Americans in voting or politics, even then they are always badgering us to move left.

Don’t equate all atheists with anti-theists or anti-Christians. That’s as fair as equating all Christians with the Westboro Baptists.

You just did, and it is absurd, sleazy, and hugely dishonest. It is even anti-conservative.

People are not convinced that the 78 person family cult. partly of lawyers and created by their patriarch Democrat politician, are even Christian, but regardless, they are only a little cult.

Anti theism and anti Christianity is definitly a big part of atheism, nationally, and globally.

Why not? Every atheist I have known has been a liberal. Many believe they are more conservative than they are, but listening to NPR doesn’t make one a conservative.

There are too many problems with atheism to cover all of them here.

But for our purposes on FR, the key one can be condensed into one line.

This is the atheist version (of necessity) of one of our founding documents:

"...endowed by                with certain inalienable rights"

Easy, use the founding document that both the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights were based on, the Virginia Declaration of Rights:

“That all men are by nature equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights, of which, when they enter into a state of society, they cannot, by any compact, deprive or divest their posterity; namely, the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety.”

This proves that even among the Founders the concept stands valid without any creator. Where do you stand with the “key problem” gone?
