"Gingrich has higher name recognition than Romney."

Just barely. As of May 18th, Romney had an 83% name recognition among Republicans and Gingrich had 84%. Statistically, it is really a tie. Romney's advantage over Gingrich is his more extensive campaign apparatus, which he has continued to build since the 2008 election, and a huge money advantage. He also has the advantage of being perceived as a successful businessman who can create jobs at a time when job creating is a HUGE issue.

Oh, I’m not arguing that right now Romney doesn’t have advantages. And yes, you are right about the percentages.
They’re roughly the same. Palin is much higher than both.

Clearly Romney is leading the establishment race right now, and he does have whatever he has campaign wise, and money.

Bachmann’s finished, but she could be going up or down for a while, she could even be a front runner for a while, and people could be saying President Bachmann. I like her 3rd most right now, but the whole “would get crushed” is there in the back of my mind.

Palin and Paul of course will last until the primaries start. I know people are going to howl that he’s a kook, but Ron Paul is real tea party, and his campaign is not going to collapse, if you’re thinking about him if Bachmann and Cain flame out, you really should do the research, don’t listen to the slurs, and find out what his record is. Some would argue that every single one of Ron Paul’s positions is grounded in traditional conservative philosophy. Sometimes there is more than one policy claiming to be conservative.
This is the case in foreign policy. There’s the Taft wing, and the Humphrey wing (the founder of “neoconservativism” Irving Kristol was on a Humbert Humphrey task force in 1968). (Pro War Humphrey Democrats is as good a term as neoconservative to describe them politically.) Bush’s foreign policy was derived mostly from the ideas of the Pro War Humphrey Democrats he hired. But many here now believe that Pro War Humphrey Democrats are conservative, and the leader of the Conservative opposition to the New Deal, Robert Taft “Mr. Republican” is a crazy liberal. And that’s fine. If believing in a Pro War Humphrey Democrat foreign policy is extremely important to you, I do believe that you will be disappointed with Ron Paul’s foreign policy, and I would understand if you ruled him out because of this. But you should know that the earliest neocons were admirers of Trotsky, and it would technically be more accurate to call them neotrots, and not neocons. But keep believing in that if you must.

“A Foreign Policy For Americans”
“If we are foolish in our use of our strength, we shall not survive” - Robert Taft “Mr. Republican”

Because Romney is the obvious choice for them. He's run before as president and got close to the nomination. He dwarfs other RINOs on fundraising. The others you named are just 'noise'.

With no repeat from '08 primaries, the conservative candidate will be a "fresh face" among presidential nominees.

Odds are Obama gets reelected despite the misery.

>>Expose mitt romneycare as the SOB liberal that he is and get him out of the running<<

Sitting with the guys at work over a year ago, I told them, “As the election cycle begins, watch how the MSM will promote the most liberal of the republican candidates attempting to choose the front runner for us”.

Sha-zam. The MSM is doing just that. The problem is that so many voters swallow this garbage hook, line and sinker.

Oh, look, Mitt. He looks so presidential, debonair. He is the moderate, able to work with democrats.

Poppy cock!! Vote the most conservative candidate, otherwise we have no hope of slowing, halting or reversing the liberal progressive onslaught.

The Constitution still matters.

>>If the economy is bad, the incumbent loses<<

It's lookin like, who's got the most money wins.

This is not a government for and by the people. We've all but lost our government to the wealthy, power hungry and special interest.

Look at what happened recently here in Texas. The legislature in special session took up two very important bills.

One, the TSA anti-groping bill that would disallow touching passengers unless they have “probable Cause”. Overwhelming support by the people of Texas.

Secondly, the Sanctuary City bill. Contained within the bill were elements that would enforce immigration law, ban liberal cities from turning a blind eye to illegals and a whole host of other items. Overwhelming support by the people of Texas.

Both bills failed in regular session and special session due in part to the lobbying cash of Perry homes and HEB foodstore chain.

Just when we felt the republicans were about to pass the bill, they ran and hid. Literally could not muster up a quorum in the state house.

The people's voice is being drowned out...by money, power, influence.

That’s politics Rove style, Texas style I guess. I don’t live there.

The elites are trying to knock as many tea partiers out as possible. Their establishment candidates aren’t taking off.
I’m seeing tea party leads in the polls most states I look at.

Funny you should mention Rove. He’z the character that convinced Rick (Gov.goodhair) Perry to switch from the democrat party to the republican party.

Likewise, the brain child of compassionate conservatism under baby Bush.

Liberal in Conservative clothing.
