I attempted to post on another forum of which I am a member, and it exceeded the maximum characters allowable by about 10%. Just assumed the same for here.

Take this to heart, Today in Texas, there’ not a single democrat elected to a statewide office. From a state where the Dems once ruled.

A little Texas political history for beginners:

I can remember growing up in Texas where everyone was a Democrat.

My late Grandfather use to talk about how he hate Tricky Dick Nixon.

I use to always laugh to myself at that one.

Even aside from the “Texas Democrat” context, to dismiss support Perry simply when because he was a Democrat and ignore his subsequent 10 year record as Governor shows a very shallow approach to vetting a candidate. However, If he did not have the 10 year record of kissing the establishment's butt, then yes, the fact that he was a Democrat might have some bearing. be a minor issue instead of further proof this guy can't be trusted and is the Texas version of Mitt Romney.

Same you guys with the "Democrats were the CONSERVATIVES back then" even though Reagan won 64% of the state and Al Gore had a 8% conservative rating from the ACU back in 1988, placing him to the LEFT of Bernie Sanders.

The whole "Rick Perry was a Democrat" thing might not be so embarrassing if Perry and his fan club would just man up and ADMIT Perry was wrong to support liberals, instead of coming up with these laughable "TX Democrats in 1988 were conservative" history revision stories. Yawn.

Just who do you think that 64% of the vote was? Republicans? they were almost non-existent in Texas at that time. That 64% was made up mostly of conservative "Reagan Democrats".
