Down at the bottom of this page are links to many war dog memorials, both present and future;

I’ve visited Greyfriar’s and have seen the little grave of Bobby. He’s buried near his master (John Gray?) but not in consecrated ground. He was quite a dog - a little scrappy, actually - and was treated so kindly by the people of Edinburgh.

I gotta tell you, when it comes to love and admiration for our 4-legged friends, nobody can beat the Brits. I think we got that quality from them.

Our local version of Bobby:

His name is Rollo and his grave never lacks for flowers.

Our two canines KNOW when my husband is even thinking of going someplace in the car. I have no idea how they know, but they know. I first learn of the pending trip by their barks which are only used for a car ride. It’s more than the signals he sends and he doesn’t even have to send one. They know.

That’s beautiful! I love the aging on the stone. That’s in Maryland? I’m learning alot today about a subject that I love.

You’ve got to get yourself up to NYC to see “War Horse.” It’s not something YOU should miss - of all people. If you can get up here, I will get my husband to get you a ticket. Spielberg has just made a movie out of it but I’m already hearing it doesn’t live up to the play.

Rosehill cemetery, Hagerstown MD.

The “aging” is from nearly 200 years of people stopping to lovingly pet him.

The rest of the marble is rough from the weather but his head and back are as smooth as velvet.

I’ve worn away my fair share of him....:)

I don’t think so since there’s no sadness in Heaven but whether or not he remembers Hawkeye, I dunno. If you’re right Jon will have to visit Rainbow Bridge often. :)

It’s absolutely beautiful and evocative. Next time I visit friends in Maryland I’m sure we can take a tour out to Hagerstown. I’d love to pet him.
