According to this post title at The Other McCain, Gov. Palin has turned down the invitation that CNN had extended to her to participate in the debate being sponsored tonight by the network and Tea Party Express. We had gathered as much when no news came over the weekend that she had accepted the invitation, and Greta Van Susteren announced that Sarah Palin would be a guest on her "On The Record" program tonight.
If she had accepted the CNN invitation to debate, it would have likely been a violation of her contract with Fox News, a job the governor doesn't appear quite ready to give up -- at least not just yet.
Stacy also reports the results of CNN's latest GOP presidential poll, which has Gov. Palin in third place with 15 percent, behind Ranger Rick with 30 percent and Mitt Romney with 18 percent.

This is real simple. Sarah Palin doesn’t need these debates to get her message out. She can get on TV anytime she wants. No sense exposing herself to inane questions by the media and loser contenders looking to gang up on her.

Apparently you haven't seen me on other threads begging and hoping she runs! Do a search, you'll find me chanting "RUN SARAH RUN!" a lot. You see I want Sarah Palin to run. The only way to convince her worshipers that she isn't going to ride a massive conservative mandate into The White House is for her to run and get her little rear end kicked. If she fails to run I'm going to have to listen to her worshipers talking about how "invincible" she would have been if she had chosen to run.

And why do you conveniently overlook the several other statements in my post? How many people set their DVRs or clear their schedule to watch Santorum or Gingrich...ever?

I so agree with you. The “polls” are fun if they go our way, but you’re right. They are incidental. Then their is Rasmussen, who has the chops and the historical accuracy of a laser. I stick with Rasmussen for the facts and check there daily on Obama and on the race when they post it.
Actually, if Sarah announces her candidacy, Fox will end her contract for her, even against her will - they already did that to Gingrich and Santorum. Now, I don't know if there might be financial consequences for Sarah over that, but she certainly can get out of the contract if she wishes.
Obama is trying to run the Harry Truman "do nothing congress" routine of decades ago. There isn't anything especially new about it. Campaigns are ALWAYS rough and tumble and if you've been around for very long you should know that.
Palin does not know anything any other candidate doesn't know. The only difference is her negatives are astronomically bad and if she were planning to run for president she has conducted the absolute worst run up to announcing a campaign of any candidate I can remember in recent history. Quitting her job as governor, doing fluff RealityTV, hit and run appearances to grab media attention from other candidates, etc, has not worn well with Republican primary voters and the polls show this clearly.
She's not running.
I swear you Perry supporters sound scared of her.
She may win. She may lose. But if Perry wins...we all lose. He is a talker NOT a doer. This is on my ping list. We will talk.

Well, since you don’t know and I don’t know the exact wording or circumstances of her contract, I will defer to Sarah’s smarts. She will do whatever she will do and I am just fine with that.
I have watched all the *debates* so far, and they were ridiculous. Why allow the msm to tear you down and make you look foolish while you KNOW they are in obama’s hip pocket?
Honestly. Have you seen ONE debate that was worth watching?
And tonight’s will be worse because you will have Michele Bachmann losing her mind and landing low blows on Rick Perry. That will help. Sure it will. /s

My criticism of your post was that it was a ridiculous theory, completely destroyed by the facts, on why Palin can't declare for President because of her contract with Fox News.
There is nothing in any of your posts that make any sense. It doesn't matter how many people DVR Gingrich or Santorum. It just isn't relevant because Fox has made it clear what their policy is and they are not treating her any different. The fact STILL remains, if Palin wants to run for President all she has to do is say the word and she will be suspended from Fox and free to rock and roll down the campaign trail. Fox is simply not blocking Palin's entry into the race. She can announce at any time and just hasn't.
Look, you obviously didn't know all the facts here. We're all wrong sometimes. Just let this one go.
Primaries are like the Tour de France. You don’t win them, you just lose them. Last man (or woman) standing gets the trophy/nomination. Don’t count her out. She’s just letting the other candidates shoot themselves in the foot.
THIS cycle sees Marxism institutionalized. This cycle is based on wonderment if it can even BE reversed it’s so pervasive. How many presidential terms will it take? The schools are churning out more of the same after now generations and we wonder why the enemy is within. Early and hard running for this cycle was mandatory and we all know it. We must have a leader early to rally a nation even if he is still in a campaign condition. There is no “official” push back until a contender rates being official. When the gap becomes wide enough that all comes together. I do not want Romney to be the nominee.
I agree 100%. We are still months away from the Iowa caucus and already we have chicken littles running around proclaiming that it's "too late, too late" for others to get into the race.
Palin is doing the right thing by sitting the early part of the campaign out. Nothing good can come from Palin getting into the race too early. She already has near 100% name recognition and it is wise to let the current field settle out a bit. I can understand people like Santorum, Perry and Bachmann being in the race this early because they need to introduce themselves to a national audience.
If Palin waits so long to get into the race that she starts missing filing dates for primaries, then I could better understand all the hand-wringing. But until then, I think we need to trust that the lady knows what she is doing and she will be in this race all in good time.
Oh. And here I thought we were talking about an appearance on CNN whether she was a canddidate or not.
