Why Americans Hate Limousine Liberals

Schumer Has A Plan

Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat, N.Y. thinks the president's plan to raise the taxes on households making more than $250,000 may require a special dispensation for New Yorkers.

After President Obama unveiled his totally new plan for the new plan for deficit-reduction that Americans hear about every other month, the plan that raises taxes on households that have an income of over $250,000, he flew to New York for a fundraising event (tickets were priced at $36,000).

A reporter, Marcia Kramer asked lawmakers from the New York region what they thought of President Obama's tax plans. Most of the legislators were in step with the president, but Schumer stood up for his limousine Liberals. He supports the millionaire's tax, but with caveats. He feels the $250,000 limit is unacceptable for the metropolitan area of New York, because of the high cost of living within the city.

Schumer Logic

“$250,000 makes you really rich in Mississippi, but it doesn’t make you rich at all in New York and there ought to be some kind of scale based on the cost of living on how much you pay.”

and denouncing the rich,

but they themselves are living fat.

Chuck Schumer is full of crap.

The bill should not pass anyway, but to say New Yorkers shouldn’t have to pay is just crazy.

They don’t call him Chuck the Schmuck for no reason.

Government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers.

I would sure love to see Tea Party super majorities in both houses and a conservative President who would eliminate any system which played favorites or created special exemptions for anyone, including Congress.

Since the most expensive places to live are usually predominately liberal populations, I guess this means he wants to give only liberals a tax cut.

Am I reading this right?

$250,000 makes you really rich in Mississippi, but it doesn’t make you rich at all in New York

Here's an idea.

Maybe NYC and NY state can cut their taxes and then, maybe, $250k would make you really rich.

Did anyone really think the tax would apply to the East or West coast progressives? The only reason Timmy Turbo Tax paid was that he needed the job and he was caught red-handed. Most normal people don’t realize how “special” these people consider themselves.

Yo, Chuckie. Read the Constitution sometime.

“The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;...”

I read somewhere that the “median” income for couples in Manahttan is $280,000. Seems like a lot, but consider with taxes and $5000 per month apartment rental it’s not THAT much.

Same thing should apply on the national minimum wage standard -- a different rate for each state, or better yet, let each state determine whether there will be any minimum wage at all, and if so, what it will be.

Funny that you mention this. In my job, I deal with people not around the US but also overseas and besides India, people out of the Northeast are my least favorites to deal with. With the Indian's and the NE folks, I get their "sense of entitlement" attitude and their insistence that you are at their "beck and call" and drop whatever you are doing this instant and be their slaves.

One company I use to work for, we bought a facility in New Jersey and the people working at that facility were such a pain to deal with. Additionally, they insisted their software was to be different versus the other facilities that the company owned and having to maintain two different versions of software was such a pain to deal with. Sometimes when they call our office to demand something and demand it now, I along with a few others would remark that these people are so "special".

Did anyone really think the tax would apply to the East or West coast progressives? The only reason Timmy Turbo Tax paid was that he needed the job and he was caught red-handed. Most normal people don’t realize how “special” these people consider themselves.

$280k sounds about right.

Part of the high cost is of course supply and demand. A lot of people want to live on that small piece of real estate and bid the price up.

Another big part of the cost is caused by rent control, in other words, the government.

Rent controlled properties (a limited supply) are held at an artificially low price and that forces prices for those that aren’t rent controlled up.

The free market would correct a good deal of their cost of living problem.

I find it odd that a senator who voted AGAINST the tax cuts 10 years ago is troubled by the prospect of having them raised for those making over $250k. He’s not up for re-election but, Gillibrand is. Maybe that special election scared them?

I ran into the same thing. Had a customer in Brooklyn who’s quad-core computer was infected such that all four cores were pegged at 99%. As a result, my software didn’t run so well on it.

He asks when I’m going to fly out to fix it. Never, is my answer. The virus / trojan is his problem, not mine. Besides a yearly license for my software is $125 / year, and a plane ticket is $400+, not to mention the rental car. I said I’d rather refund his $125. He never got back to me.

Good riddance.

Ah, so people living in these cities should also be exempted from 0bama's plan, then:

Most expensive cities in America 2011

Considering many of those metropolitan areas are liberal areas, only rich people living in suburban 'red states' would get taxes. No wonder it's name after Warren Buffet. He lives in Omaha, NE.
