Why Cain? According to our new NBC/WSJ poll, Herman Cain now leads the Republican presidential field, getting 27% among GOP primary voters -- followed by Mitt Romney at 23%, Rick Perry at 16%, and Ron Paul at 11%. But why Cain? Our NBC/WSJ co-pollsters conducted follow-up interviews with Cain supporters and found two typical answers: 1) he’s not a politician, and 2) he’s real. “Cain is a good guy and so real,” said a male respondent from New Jersey. “Cain gives direct answers. He is succinct. He isn’t a politician,” added a male respondent from Washington. “He is plain-spoken and down to Earth,” said a woman from Texas. “It is kind of appealing that he is not in politics,” noted another female from Texas. “I have to be personally honest: I rely a lot on talk-show hosts, people I listen to and respect -- and they respect him. Rush Limbaugh, listen an hour a day,” said a female from Washington.

Herman Cain is surging for 2 reasons:

1) He's not a politician 2) the 9-9-9 Plan

And just like Herman Cain is rising from the ashes...so is Les Dowrey. After losing my job in talk radio I have decided to launch the first conservative cartoon of it's kind. Consider it the Tea Party's answer to Family Guy!

Exactly. Most Americans despise politicians right now, and despise the current gazillion-page tax code even more.

Mr. Cain recognizes from the very start that he doesn’t know everything or have every answer.

A smart businessman knows this to be always true. That’s why successful people succeed. They know what they don’t know. They go out and get the best people to join the team to run the company.

This is what Herman will do. He will set the vision and strategy and then find the right people to implement the Vision and Strategy. If those people can’t get the job done, then a smart man will dismiss them and get someone else.

The US gov should be run like a business. Set goals and achieve them.

And another thing...I would truly expect President Cain to CLEAN HOUSE at the various agencies. Eliminate every single left wing loony and put real American patriotic experts into the open slots.

Makes me wonder what his Cabinet might look like???

He speaks plainly about what he will do.

He is direct. Perhaps too direct, but it’s refreshing.

He’s not a Republican establishment figure. (Useful as they are, they have to be kept on a short leash, lest they think they’re the masters.)

Why Cain?

Because he is a conservative, successful, articulate, American who has a work ethic, ideas, moral value system, and patriotic can-do attitude that is connecting with us out here in America...connecting with those of us who work for a living and who want our country returned to the fundamental values it was established upon and which has made it the greatest, freest, most secure, most propserous and cahritable nation in history.

That's why...and he's going to take Barack Obama to the wood shed!

Interesting. I refuse to listen to, nor do I need the press or pundits to form my opinions. Nor do I pay any attention to most of the fantasy political spam that originates from paid political operatives and fills my inbox.

Americans need to understand that the MSM media has an agenda to inform, but that’s subordinate to their real agenda to jerk us around by the nose. Until Americans learn how to think for themselves I don’t have much hope.

Nobody in the media get it.

Today we had Bob Dutco on the Crawford radio network, which is supposedly a solid Christian operation, trying to sell us on Romney over Cain, even though he admittedly knows that Romney is faking his conservative positions.

I think that one of the main reasons that he is surging is that he is the current popular conservative alternative to Romney. That could change, but it is almost certain that there will be some conservative alternative or alternatives to Romney as the campaign continues.

I just want a conservative to win. My favorites are Santorum, Bachmann and Cain (in that order). Perry would be my fallback position if those three flounder. But there is a large portion of the Republican electorate who are simply looking for an alternative to Romney.

Yep the press sure didn’t grasp this concept early, maybe they’re catching on. This is the year of the anti-politician. GOP or Dem, doesn’t matter, people don’t trust politicians. Herman Cain is the only one who’s not a politician, nor does he speak like a politician...that intrigues voters.

Agreed. This is the reason I'm leaning heavy Cain now. Mitt would be OK, imho, but he's too ingrained in the system to tear it down, which is what needs.

Speaking of what we need; I understand Perry's plan uses the energy sectors to rev our economy. THAT's a winner, coupled with a load of spending cuts we can pull ourselves off the edge. There is hope.

I would truly expect President Cain to CLEAN HOUSE at the various agencies. Eliminate every single left wing loony and put real American patriotic experts into the open slots.

This is precisely what must be done and one of the biggest mistakes of George W. Bush was not doing it. He basically just put in his own cabinet and left most of Clinton's political appointees in place.

To heck with that!

Every single Obama, Clinton and Bush political appointee must be identified and slated for immediate replacement after the inauguration. Cain should start planning for that right now by assigning at least two qualified staffers who will do nothing but identify targets and locate qualified replacements.

Then there are all the Executive Orders that Obama has been flinging around, not to mention a huge number of Clinton's that Bush let slide. Another two staffers should be tasked with reviewing all of them and targeting any that are suspect for immediate nullification. "Stroke of the pen, law of the land"? My a$$!!!

What one President can appoint/impose, another President can replace/rescind.

No mercy, no arguments, no appeals. Get rid of all of them. If you were appointed by Obama or Clinton, you're gone. If it's an Obama or Clinton EO, it's trashed.

End of story.

The Republican establishment exists only to get people elected with an (R) after their name. It does not exist to implement a return to Constitutional govt. Once the Pubbies are in power, all the investigations of criminal conduct by 0bama, Holder, etc. (Fast & Furious, New Black Panthers, birth certificate fraud, etc.) will stop. We need an outsider who will push the war until the guilty are destroyed and made an example of. We need to put a stake through the heart of the commie beast, or it will rise again.
