Obama 44%, Cain 38% OCT 25, 2011 • BY JEFFREY H. ANDERSON The latest Rasmussen poll of likely voters shows that, over the past week, the gap between President Obama and Herman Cain has swung 8 points in Obama’s favor.

In a poll released shortly before the last Republican presidential debate, Rasmussen showed Cain leading Obama by 2 percentage points in a head-to-head matchup (43 to 41 percent). This week’s poll, taken after that debate and after Cain’s abortion comments late last week, shows Obama now leading by 6 points (44 to 38 percent).

Among independents, Cain was ahead by 19 points last week (48 to 29 percent), but that gap has now vanished —

Probably just Barry’s “kill bump” from Gadhafi. Nothing that is going to last until November 2012.

People are easily swayed by the MSM to this day.

Obama will never get less than 40%, even if he ate a baby in prime time on national TV for Halloween and prayed for the nation to practice voodoo.

I smell a rino elitist on this thread.

All I know about Hildy is from what she has posted. She has posted a lot of negative stuff about Mr. Cain lately.

On Gingrich...What do you think of Gingrich? He was the most impressive live speaker. He is always the smartest guy in the room

On Palin switching from Republican to Conservative on Facebook... Here’s a newsflash..the Republican Party does not care.

On Perry... He will be known as Bush light.

On Cain... I was at the debate last week and had the opportunity to speak with John Fund of the Wall Street Journal. He looked me in the eye and told me that he has known Herman Cain for 15 years and that he is NOT Presidential.

ON Romney... She says she is not a supporter, but she thinks he is the one who can win... If Romney is the nominee he will destroy Obama. I think she is an "establishment Republican".

Yup.

I firmly believe that the election night vote will be a lot closer than most of us are anticipating (also factor in voter fraud).

I think Cain will have the best shot overall vs. Obama. Cain's an outsider, he nullifies the race issue, etc.

Perry will get slaughtered as the redux of GW Bush, Romney for being a Mormon RINO.

Pretty much the way I see it. Good guy, no real chance to beat Hussein. Worse, as a complete political novice he is just way too likely to say stupid stuff and blow up his campaign after he's nominated.

People keep claiming it's all good because Reagan was behind. The problem is Cain is no Reagan. By 1980 Reagan was a disciplined, polished politician who already knew the ropes having already run a serious campaign once (and having been Governor of CA). Cain is too likely to spit up something dopey and implode.

Can ANYONE OF US IMAGINE TWO MONTHS AGO at 44% (FOREIGN-BORN COMMUNIST) to 38% (ALMOST UNKNOWN AMERICAN PATRIOT)? Look at the LONG TERM BIG PICTURE FOLKS.

Even with the State Controlled Liberal National Media arrayed against us?

This embodies true grassroots Tea Party-style progress and the glidepath upwards over the next months will tighten the race to a dead heat, then Cain will deliver an electrifying nomination speech pulling 10 points ahead, and economy that sucks and Obama tiring out the American people will keep Obama comfortably behind Cain until election day....

I think it has a lot to do with the Perry supporters who know Perry is only a stalking horse in the race to make Romney look good. Look at the debates where Perry intentionally looks so bad he makes Romney look good by comparison. This can't be an accident. Now that Cain has become a threat to Romney, the Perry supporters have used every lying, dirty trick in the book to turn people against Cain, again helping only Romney. The downright dishonesty of the attacks on Cain appear to be well coordinated with Perry supporters and the MSM. I don't believe it is a coincidence that Perry supporters pick up on attacks on Cain by the MSM within minutes of them being reported, dishonest editing and all.

It is an outright battle between conservatives backing Cain and Gingrich and the Romney coalition consisting of Romney, Perry, the MSM and the Republican establishment. It will be interesting to see whether honesty, decency and conservatism wins out or whether we will have a Romney Obama election where the entire Country loses.

The elephant in the room is economy. Election is over a year away. If economy roars back to life, Barry will unfortunately have a good chance. But there are no signs that unemployment (REAL, not gov’t figures) will get below 20% by Oct 2012. Europe is seriously heading into a recession. That is 1/3 of world’s GDP. Our FED has no bullets left, rates already near 0. Congress is highly unlikely to pass any more stimuli with borrowed money.

If you think our real-estate bubble was bad, Chinese bubble
is twice as inflated. No one knows when it will pop but it is a matter of not if, but when. Any one major economy getting in trouble will cascade down the line.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPILhiTJv7E

So, if my prediction on economy holds true, any GOP_ nominee wins. I hope it is Cain, but I will be OK with most others except Paul & Romney.

Cain is doing none of us good by alienating hispanics.

If you can’t see that, you don’t know electoral politics.

Cain was for frying mexicans, then it was just a joke, then he was serious again about frying them, you just don’t say stuff like this if you want the hispanic vote.

Whoever wins the primary is guaranteed the ~48% that turned out for Sarah via McGone. But that wasn’t a good enough number, we needed the 53% number to beat zero, and we didn’t pull it out.

Whatever, I’m tired of giving Cain election advice.

Dead Muzzie bounce. Assad had better find a quiet villa to hole up in - Zero's gonna cap one Arab dictator a month for the next year if it's his only way of keeping the minds of the navel-gazing swing voters off of all the other domestic destruction he has wrought.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Who's the *we* who can lose this election?

Do you mean, we the voters, who will never vote for Romney?

Romney the POS who refused to back Governor John Kasich against the Public Employee Unions in Ohio today, for just one traitorous example?

Yep, you betcha. If Romney's the nominee, I'm writing-in SARAH PALIN. A Romney win, is no win at all.

Yeah, that was on Rush today. Rush repeated it twice.

Said maybe Romney wants the support of the Northeast unions.

Romney is so plastic when he's cut he bleeds Testor's cement.

Kasich has brains and balls. Romney has good hair.

The latter characterization is Herman Cain's.

And Herman Cain has character and class as well.

If you look inside the poll Herman is getting only 68 percent GOP support. In election it will go to 91-94 percent. Obama is getting mid 80’s from his party so hermans number grows to even with Obama when you update. Obama incumbent can’t bget past mid 40’s he’s toast

federal__reserve: I hope many many Freepers focus on your reply which recites fears which I have been outlining of these threads and in private freepmail for many months.

There are three props to the inner connected world economy, the US, Euro zone, and China and all three are in desperate trouble. Even if the elites in Europe managed to kick the can down the road on Greece, can they play whack a mole with the other PIGS? Italy shows signs of having serious problems without the immediate obvious cause being contagion from Greece.

As you point out we have one year until the election and if any one of these three props gives way, the consequence will be nothing less than catastrophic because, as you again point out, we have no silver bullets left to fire.

Worse, in the intervening year a black swan event of almost any kind can precipitate an unraveling and one need only look to the Arab nightmare which this administration persists in calling the Arab spring for a likely source. But it need not be a man-made event, a tsunami, a hurricane, a volcano which interrupts commerce, a plague, are merely tokens for intrusions which could convert our vulnerability into chaos.

Let's look at this pessimistic picture from Obama's viewpoint. If he is as I believe a true Marxist who despises America and who wants to see it submerged into a George Soros' inspired world order, and if he knows, as you point out, that his election chances of becoming daily more desperate, his seemingly politically suicidal embrace of the WSO movement takes on a sinister aspect.

Normally the electorate reacts Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc crediting the occupier of the Oval Office for the good and blaming him for the bad without regard actual causation. Most analysis of Obama's intentions assume this principle to be guiding his behavior. Suppose he reads the poll numbers and concludes that there is no possibility of winning the election so he is leapfrogging this reality to a atmosphere of chaos?

Perhaps he's not trying to win the election but to win the chaos?

I like your thinking. Right now, the ‘generic’ Republican wins. The nominee will be the winner.

I also believe the people are ready for a President who enjoys life - it’s contagious. BO is a miserable, snarky, smirking human being with an annoying habit of lecturing and whining.

Herman Cain enjoys life and we need some group optimism - not group think. Happy warriors with goals and aspirations beat miserable Marxists.
