Obama 44%, Cain 38% OCT 25, 2011 • BY JEFFREY H. ANDERSON The latest Rasmussen poll of likely voters shows that, over the past week, the gap between President Obama and Herman Cain has swung 8 points in Obama’s favor.

In a poll released shortly before the last Republican presidential debate, Rasmussen showed Cain leading Obama by 2 percentage points in a head-to-head matchup (43 to 41 percent). This week’s poll, taken after that debate and after Cain’s abortion comments late last week, shows Obama now leading by 6 points (44 to 38 percent).

Among independents, Cain was ahead by 19 points last week (48 to 29 percent), but that gap has now vanished —

Only we can lose this election.

Who's the *we* who can lose this election?

Do you mean, we the voters, who will never vote for Romney?

Romney the POS who refused to back Governor John Kasich against the Public Employee Unions in Ohio today, for just one traitorous example?

Yep, you betcha. If Romney's the nominee, I'm writing-in SARAH PALIN. A Romney win, is no win at all.

Yeah, that was on Rush today. Rush repeated it twice.

Said maybe Romney wants the support of the Northeast unions.

Romney is so plastic when he's cut he bleeds Testor's cement.

Kasich has brains and balls. Romney has good hair.

The latter characterization is Herman Cain's.

And Herman Cain has character and class as well.

You’re right, and I hope Romney slit his own throat with that idiot move today. It was a clear look into the future for all to see.

Romney will sell-out to every union from Detriot to SEIU.

The POS is the enemy within; no doubt about it.

If you look inside the poll Herman is getting only 68 percent GOP support. In election it will go to 91-94 percent. Obama is getting mid 80’s from his party so hermans number grows to even with Obama when you update. Obama incumbent can’t bget past mid 40’s he’s toast

federal__reserve: I hope many many Freepers focus on your reply which recites fears which I have been outlining of these threads and in private freepmail for many months.

There are three props to the inner connected world economy, the US, Euro zone, and China and all three are in desperate trouble. Even if the elites in Europe managed to kick the can down the road on Greece, can they play whack a mole with the other PIGS? Italy shows signs of having serious problems without the immediate obvious cause being contagion from Greece.

As you point out we have one year until the election and if any one of these three props gives way, the consequence will be nothing less than catastrophic because, as you again point out, we have no silver bullets left to fire.

Worse, in the intervening year a black swan event of almost any kind can precipitate an unraveling and one need only look to the Arab nightmare which this administration persists in calling the Arab spring for a likely source. But it need not be a man-made event, a tsunami, a hurricane, a volcano which interrupts commerce, a plague, are merely tokens for intrusions which could convert our vulnerability into chaos.

Let's look at this pessimistic picture from Obama's viewpoint. If he is as I believe a true Marxist who despises America and who wants to see it submerged into a George Soros' inspired world order, and if he knows, as you point out, that his election chances of becoming daily more desperate, his seemingly politically suicidal embrace of the WSO movement takes on a sinister aspect.

Normally the electorate reacts Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc crediting the occupier of the Oval Office for the good and blaming him for the bad without regard actual causation. Most analysis of Obama's intentions assume this principle to be guiding his behavior. Suppose he reads the poll numbers and concludes that there is no possibility of winning the election so he is leapfrogging this reality to a atmosphere of chaos?

Perhaps he's not trying to win the election but to win the chaos?

I like your thinking. Right now, the ‘generic’ Republican wins. The nominee will be the winner.

I also believe the people are ready for a President who enjoys life - it’s contagious. BO is a miserable, snarky, smirking human being with an annoying habit of lecturing and whining.

Herman Cain enjoys life and we need some group optimism - not group think. Happy warriors with goals and aspirations beat miserable Marxists.

Don’t believe it. Compared to Obama’s name recognition virtually nobody has heard of Cain and he is still (supposedly) within 6 points. Cain can and will win independents.

I am so sick of these rino elitists telling us little people who and what is good for us. I like the fact that Herman isn't one of the good ole inside the beltway boys. Herman is doing great without the rino elitists help. But I suggest they get behind him and support him and not submarine him like they did Sarah Palin.

It is quite easy to see. Look how long the Marxist have been in charge of public education and the MSM.

I was in a political science class not long ago where the professor asked the class if they would like to live in a socialist country.

Every student under the age of 25 raised their hands. Unbelievable.

“It is an outright battle between conservatives backing Cain and Gingrich and the Romney coalition consisting of Romney, Perry, the MSM and the Republican establishment.”

I agree, and I think that the fix might be in for Cain and Gingrich. That would explain why they’re having the Lincoln/Douglas debate: instead of going after each other, they’re just looking for an avenue to expound on their ideas.

I’ve been somewhat disappointed with the Cain campaign’s performance lately - I think their ads could use some work - but I find it hard to believe that Herman has lost so much support for no good reason. Perry stole the thunder from Bachmann. He then imploded after the “heartless” remark. What has Cain done to justify a drop in support? The abortion non-issue? It’s a misunderstanding that has already been cleared up.

That said, if he does go down and Newt picks up the slack, I’d be perfectly willing to support a Gingrich/Cain ticket. Can you imagine Obummer trying to stumble through a Lincoln/Douglas debate with Newt?

Had the opportunity to hear Mr. Cain speak last night in Texas. Very impressed. No wild theatrics, just a strong, calm, in control individual who speaks from the heart with total conviction. He identified problems we are facing with a specific and understandable plan for their remedy. Don’t recall hearing him using the “I” word and at times there was such total attention to his message that you could have heard a pin drop. He certainly has my vote and support.

OH NO!!! He's behind by 6 POINTS with a YEAR to go!!!!

I must RUN to the nearest exist and vote for ROMNEY!

ARGGGG. Don't people EVER get tired of POLLS? They mean NOTHING until its right at the end. And then if every poll tells you your guy is behind by 8-10 and the other guy (who isn't an incumbant) is over 50...then stick a fork in him...he's DONE. No...it's NOT liberal MSM poll spin...its NOT Zogby special sauce at that point...it's that your RINO sucks. You should have voted for a Linebacker Conservative in the primaries instead of a nancy-boy girlscout.

As Rush pointed out yesterday (or the day before)...Bush 41 was behind by 22 points in AUGUST to Dukakis! Carter and Reagan were tied if not Carter slightly ahead with a month to go.

What this poll really says is Obama loses to Cain 54-46...or roughly by that number.
