A Vandalized Valley
National Review Online ^ | 12-21-11 | Victor Davis Hanson

If you are overstressed by last-minute shopping and holiday traffic, read this and think about people who have REAL trouble. And then think about what to do about it while there is still time to prevent your valley from being vandalized..

A depressing article. All true I’m sure. I have a long driveway in a rural area and get “lost” inquiries from time to time. Always a man or men in a pickup truck.

There is a reason the gun was hung over the doorway back in the old days. It never hurts to have the Mrs. backing you up.

I live in a sparsely settled rural area too, a fifteen mile long peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico. We are an armed camp and as opposed to CA, FL takes a classic “liberal” view of what homeowners can do with intruders. Bring on the barbarians.

They need a sheriff with a posse. Call it a neighborhood crime watch. Neighbors can patrol and set up sting operations. You can also set up trip wires with alarms and lights in out buildings and fields. Cameras, too. Alarms can go off in one or more houses.

The authorities that have been hired clearly don’t care about all this or they would stop trucks wandering through the area at night. These people need to take care of business themselves or serve as serious victims of the lawless society they live in.

Arc lights illuminating the intruders, the sound of a 12 ga racking, and a very calm and polite voice from behind the lights asking "May I help you?

The copper and brass thieves are doing this to feed their heroin habits. They sell it to whatever unscrupulous scrapyard will take it and not report it to the police. They also steal cars and take them to the shredder and get four hundred dollars for the scrap metal.

War on Drugs keeps rolling along.

Well, from what VDH had to say, the law is on the side of the criminals. Help from the Sheriff? CA has made it clear the taxpayer’s purpose is to be plundered to support the dirtbags. Smoke an illegal and lose everything you own.

“Reporting to the local police or sheriff a huge pile of refuse in your yard — even when the address of the tosser can be found from power bills or letters “

Sounds like a midnight visit to the thugs is in order, if the sheriff won’t do his duty.

Create a posse with no sheriff then. They should get on it and not roll over and die for the commies.

It’s even worse. The government is not just indifferent to the plight of law-abiding people—it is actively hostile. A judge cut off much of the water supply to the rich Central Valley farms, supposedly to save the delta smelt. This three-inch fish is of no importance to any sane person, and is actually a hybrid of native smelt with Japanese imports. (See http://www.stolinsky.com/news/news/news_item.asp?NewsID=418)

But the result is to increase unemployment in parts of the Valley to 40%. Illegal immigration plus unemployment equal big trouble. But it’s not P.C. to mention it, much less to do anything about it. Whether this result is intended or not I don’t know—and I don’t care. What liberals, or any people, intend is important to their psychiatrists. What results is important to all of us.
