Blacks are ~14% of the US population. Blacks are 56% of inmates convicted for drug violations, most are non-violent crimes.
Wow me with your wit then, Paulbot.
Look at you! You can Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V with the best of them. Atta boy!
Care to comment on #100, O Wise Liberaltarian ?
still waiting on who you support? Name names Mr Hot Shot. Are you afraid? I smell something.
oh, GeronL conflates the end of the world with RE-LEGALIZING recreational drug usage. To read his/her posts on the topic, rape, kiddie porn, murder, acne and hives will all skyrocket if so much as one doper, anywhere in the world, has one LEGAL toke on one joint. He/she’s hilarious that way, though I can’t tell if the humor’s intended or just a byproduct of his/her hyperventilating at the notion of self-ownership and self-responsibility... no matter, the result’s the same: more drug war insanity!
Did you bother to watch the vid that started this thread?
I alerted a pal of mine to the thread; and since you started the thread, your name was in the “to” box as well. Your reply to me was so full of bile that I wondered if you were perhaps wound up a bit too tightly and was kindly recommending some home remedies for stress and anger.
People can get heart disease and other ailments just from ill temper, you know.
Hello Mr/Mrs dcuwumc - I am a he and since I am up late, I’ll give you the short version. My vote to drug war supporters: Stuff it. With a capital S.
Sorry if I misconstrued-but since you replied publicly instead of privately, I’m betting you dont really mean it.
The WOD is maintained the way it is to enrich the banks (money laundering) the politicians ($ from banks and the cartels) and therefore keep the prices high while playing that they are trying to stop drugs.
Here’s my plan:
Allow anyone to grow weed but only they can use it. No selling, no “giving”. Public caning for selling, increasing blows with each offense.
Same deal with poppies. Let people grow them for personal use.
All other drugs illegal. Sell - execution. Purchase or use (say meth) - public caning. Repeat offenses - execution.
Then anyone who wants to use weed or poppy products can get wasted. Price will drop so no point in risking severe punishment to sell.
Seal border and kill all drug cartel members found in the US. Let the US citizens have the use of National parks and forests again.
People may think it’s harsh but it will work, save taxpayers tons of money, starve whoever is making money with illegal drugs, and if a certain percentage of the US public want to be stupid, they can. Oh, and no welfare, FS, HUD, energy assistance, etc. So the people who want to be stupid with drugs will have to find a way to support themselves which does not include selling drugs.
Simple. Karma in action.
I’m actually serious. I’m an herbalist. Your jumping down my throat instantly reminded me of an angry dog. Anger poisons people from the inside out.
LJ - why in the hell did we ever disagree? I read your proposal and I am on board! This is what I’m talking about. How did we get so cross-ways? Oh yeah Ron Paul - well lets take him of of the picture. I am am on board the LJ train!
You really oughta GFYS.
Ty AH. GFYIAW.
Drunk.
Your wife’s panties ..in my glove box. Sorry. Just business.
You’re a pissant little bully that cusses out women and probably beats children. Take your inadequate penis size issues somewhere else.
we’re just friends
No, you’re a jerk. No one you insulted here thinks it’s funny.
Pretty big words there vato. But I understand. You are compensating. Its ok. We are all in it together.
I’m not in anything with an asshole like you.
TigersEye - that is not nice. I could care less if you want to be Mr. Gay. Not that there is anything wrong with it. While I can respect your freedom to be very gay, I have a hard time reconciling it to reality.
Keep your fantasies to yourself, pervert.
Good luck with your gayness sir. You should at least tell your wife about your affinity for the pp. We don’t judge you. At last as far as you know.
Is gay sex the only thing you have on your mind?
Let it out Tiger, I dont agree with your choice (evolutionism and all) but I’m not judging you.
The War on Drugs has caused more challenges to the Constitution than any other source. Freepers, it is being used to destroy the 2nd Amendment as well, as evidenced by the Fast and Furious debacle.
We as a nation have spent tens of billions on this War on the People and have nothing to show for it except a dismal rate of approval for all levels of government. Tens of thousands have died from its violence and there is NO END IN SIGHT. It is set to surpass the Cold War in length soon.
It may be distasteful but legalization and free distribution at clinics to adults is probably the only way to control this beast. Yes, drug addiction is ugly. But so are police raids where dogs, kids, vets, and old people are getting killed. So is the mood of this nation, who are convinced that gov is trampling all over the citizens rights.
If the gov legalizes it, they MUST control the market or nothing changes. Distribute it for free and people have a much less impetus to commit crimes to get money for their addiction. The cartels don’t need to slaughter tens of thousands of Mexicans over it. Drug gangs disappear. The militiarization of the police recedes. Individual rights reaffirmed. Quality of life for those who don’t abuse goes up. Some illegals who came her to flee the insanity go back home.
Can you live with this? The tradeoff is there will still be addiction and yes, it will be ugly and there will be overdose deaths involved. But those are choices made by adults. I don’t think it’s too much to demand from the gov that we be treated as adults.
Don’t worry - In the New Year I’ll be happy to describe your parentage and mental capacities.
Have a resentful Kwanzaa and an hysterical Festivus, also.
If you don't think you can follow orders given these extremely vague circumstances, the military isn't for you.
The same way people can defend the legality of the worst drug on the face of the earth by far: alcohol.
Alcohol is an addictive, mind altering, body destroying substance, which causes more death, violence, and suffering than all illegal drugs combined.
It's the height of hypocrisy to legalize alcohol while making weed and other substances illegal.
Putting people in prison for posessing the wrong substance is not justice. People are responsible for their actions, whether influenced by illegal or legal drugs, and if they infringe on someone else's rights during the course of pursuing their bad habits, only then should criminality apply.
The powers granted to government by adherents to the Fascist Drug War are overtly Tyrannical, and have nothing whatsoever to do with Justice. This is why, in "the Land of the Free", there are more non-criminal citizens in prison than practically anywhere else in the world.
The Drug War is a Tyrannical bad joke which does nobody any good.
And maybe your neighbor doesn't want you drinking alcohol when he comes home. It's not his choice to make.
You are free to destroy your body or your life with alcohol, or any other drug, if you so choose. As long as you don't abuse your wife & children, or do violence to others, or drive intoxicated, etc., that's your prerogative.
It's not the State's job to put you in prison to protect you from yourself.
That is a Tyrant's job.
#105-
Of course I never said anything of the sort.
I don’t shill for candidates the way Paultards do. What difference does it make ?
I don’t shill for candidates the way Paultards do. What difference does it make ?
Funny, only anger makes me happy.....
Ahhhh.....more of that Paulbot logic......
Well, there’s a gulf of difference between anger properly directed and wrongly directed. One has a duty to be angry at evil, lies and so forth. If a person is not angry at what they should be angry at, it’s a killer in many ways. And not feeling anger at evil is also a great wrong.
We can see both ills at work, all over - wrongly directed anger, and lack of properly directed anger.
Why no selling or giving? That restriction just keeps open a niche (albeit smaller than before) for black-market sellers.
Making that comparison is cooking the books - a valid comparison would be between Everclear (the most concentrated form of alcohol) and crack (the most concentrated form of cocaine).
Anybody smoking crack is getting high as a kite
Do you doubt the same is true about anyone drinking Everclear?
Because I say so.
:-D
And I will not engage with you because you are a nasty little thing.
[...] I will not engage with you because you are a nasty little thing.
Running away and namecalling - yup, it's a Drug Warrior.
Thanks for the easy win.
Many thousands of people smoke crack. Most (that's right, the vast majority, just as with alcohol) don't commit crimes.
When anybody commits an actual crime, either to support their bad habit, or as a result of engaging in their bad habit, then they are liable under the law.
Millions more people drink alcohol than smoke crack. In my experience, when you consider the abuse, murder, drunk driving, vehicular homicide, and violent crime which directly result from the use of the legal drug alcohol, it dwarfs the negative effects of all illegal drugs combined.
Neither crack users, heroin addicts, nor alcoholics deserve imprisonment simply for possessing or using a certain substance.
Contraband law is inherently Tyrannical, and always will be. The War on Drugs has nothing to do with justice. It's a hysterical overreaction, based largely on authoritarian propaganda, which does nothing to solve any of the underlying problems.
Prohibition does not work, with alcohol, guns, or anything else...
In only 16 states. So do you support an end to federal drug laws?
People are more likely to get drunk on cheap liquor than fine wines, of course.
And the former is the right comparison to crack.
Most people who has consumed hard alcohol at some time in their lives are good citizens and taxpayers. Can you say the same for people who have smoked crack at some tIme in their life?
I doubt it's the case that nobody who once smoked crack is a good citizen and taxpayer (unless you define "good citizen" to exclude anyone who ever broke a law). And what of it? Should it be illegal to not be a good citizen and taxpayer?
It's neither moral nor ficsally prudent to say we'll imprison ALL crack users because SOME of them have addictions they can't finance.
It's fine to say that people will be liable under the law, but what happens when the harm caused by addicts is irrepairable, such as when they commit murder while under the influence?
what happens when the harm caused by alcohol addicts is irreparable?
Certain things do need to be banned. Do you want your neighbor to own a tank or an antiaircraft gun or a nuclear missle?
Those can directly harm many other people at a stroke; crack directly harms only the user.
Are you saying the 10th Amendment reserves to the states the authority to legislate on "soft" drugs but not "hard" drugs? Where in the language of the Constitution do you find that?
Libertarianism relies on the assumption that people will be highly responsible.
No, it simply advocates that government not shield the irresponsible from the natural consequences of their irresponsibility.
The problem is that libertarian policies lead to societal degradation and degraded societies cannot support libertarian governments. After one generation of liberal drug policies, this country would be run by communists. So many people would be so reliant on the government
You assume that a large number of people would not only use drugs but use them to the point of inability to support themselves. Why should anyone believe that? Are there that many people who are deterred from drug use by its illegality, but who would not be deterred by the risk of addiction and degradation? Is illegality YOUR sole reason for not using drugs?
