Ahhhh.....more of that Paulbot logic......

Like speaking on Iran...

"They hate us because we're bombing them." - Ron Paul

(the U.S. has never bombed Iran in all of history for those in Rio Linda)

“are also pro-open borders and would legalize kiddie porn”

BS. Absolute BS. You can secure the border with soldiers that are well armed and clear to shoot. You can execute anyone with kiddie porn, fine with any Libertarian I know. However you cannot stop drugs, drug use or idiots who have no future NO MATTER HOW MUCH OF MY MONEY YOU SPEND ON IT. You can however stop giving them welfare, stop paying to lock up people just for self destructive behavior and shoot all drug addicts attempting to rob you. That’s the basic Libertarian view I know and support.

You left out the first part of the quote:

"Radical Muslims don't hate us because of our values; they hate us because we're bombing them."

He has been saying the same thing for a while now. He is speaking about radical Muslims in general, not just Iran.

It's either dishonest or careless with the truth to claim he was saying something different.

That is just as insane so there was no need to include the whole quote.

Well whether you agree with him or not is besides the point. You made a claim that was false, I was just pointing that out.

But just to respond to what you said, do you really think that NO Muslims hate us for being over there, at war in the Middle East?

My claim was not false. The only subject of the discussion was Iran and he made the statement, in that context, that the reason they hate us is because we are bombing them.

Whether in that context or not (and it was) his statement make him literally eligible for a straight jacket.

Give me a freakin break. The man is a doctor, and he has been in politics for decades. If you honestly think that he thinks we are bombing Iran, then it's not him who is out of touch with reality.

If you look at the video of the debate, you will see the context. He was first speaking about what he considers the danger and foolishness of declaring war on Muslims in general (all Muslims) and then he made the point that he has made many times before - that the radicals hate us because we're over there, in the Middle East, bombing them. He was speaking in general, he was not speaking about Iran when he said that.

Here's the video, watch it for yourself.

It's ok if you disagree, but at least be honest! Sheesh.

Here's a much shorter clip, if you don't feel like going through the previous 11 minute video.

I saw the debate. I know the context. RP is nuttier than a fruitcake.

Since I have a few minutes to spare, I'll go ahead and bite. First let me ask you, do you really believe that Muslims only hate us because we're free and prosperous, or do you think there is more to it than that?

And let me ask you this again, and please answer this time: Do you really think that no Muslims hate us for being over there, at war in the Middle East?

“Do you really think that no Muslims hate us for being over there, at war in the Middle East?”

I really don’t care. The United States has the right to act in any way it sees fit on the world stage when it comes to national defense, regardless of what the socialists in the UN think and what the suicide bombers in Ramallah claim to think.

When Ann Coulter used to think rationally and didn’t back socialists like Mitt Commie, she made a valuable point. The only way to achieve world peace is to invade Muslim countries, kill their leaders, and convert them all to Christianity. (paraphrased)

I don't believe that at all.

Do you really think that no Muslims hate us for being over there, at war in the Middle East?

I thought I effectively answered that in post #168 but, no, it doesn't make any sense. Muslims have hated all non-Muslims since Mohammed. Ask an Indian Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist.

We could also ask Americans. Last time I checked, 3000 of them were murdered by Muslims on 9/11/01.

"I don't believe that at all."

Ok, well that's good.

"I thought I effectively answered that in post #168 but, no, it doesn't make any sense. Muslims have hated all non-Muslims since Mohammed. Ask an Indian Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist."

That's a huge, sweeping generalization, and I have to disagree that it was always that way. When I was in junior high, my family lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for 2 years, and we got to know some Muslims, and at that time things were very very different. They were actually friendly and hospitable towards Americans, and although I was just a kid at that time, I don't have any negative memories of interacting with Muslims.

So that leads me to ask the question - what has happened between then (I don't want to give away my age, but I'll just say it was many years ago) and now? And it causes me to ask, does our foreign policy and intervening in the internal affairs of other countries have anything to do with it?

I realize that you guys (or at least Absolutely Nobama) don't care why they hate us. But I actually do want peace, and what matters to me is that our government does what is right and moral, and what makes the most sense. IF it is true that our hyper-interventionism, nation building, and policy of perpetual war is unconstitutional and immoral, and what instigates more enemies and more terrorism, then maybe we (the people) need to not support that.

And btw, all I'm doing is asking questions, my position is not set in stone, except that I want us to do what is right and constitutional.

You are saying that our “intervening” in Saudi affairs has made the whole Muslim world hate us? Didn’t the Saudis invite us there to defend them and give them military training and hardware? Did we bomb them? Did we bomb any other Muslim nations back then? Didn’t the Saudis void legitimate contracts with western oil companies and take their assets for their own?

Why ask the question? If you have the answer why not name it? Because you can't right?
