Recommendations for a wireless mouse & keyboard?
Self ^ | 1/9/2012 | MeganC

Techy Freepers, I need to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse that can operate up to thirty feet away from the computer. It's for a big meeting room with a projector. The Microsoft stuff I have right now is useless at about ten feet away from the computer. If anyone has a suggestion I'd deeply appreciate your help!

Here is a wireless mouse suggestion. I personally like white.

As for the keyboard, I don't have anything for you.

I use a Logitech M305 wireless mouse, but I don’t know if it will reach 30 feet.

I got this about nine months ago:

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-2LF-00001-Wireless-Desktop-800/dp/B003SVSJ1K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326158208&sr=8-1

Haven’t had a single problem with it.

I’ve been using the Logitech 4 button mouse with roller wheel for several years and it’s still kicking like new. It doesn’t eat batteries like many other mice, either. It’s comfortable to use and the buttons are conveniently located.

Tell me more. Do you need to control PowerPoint or completely control the computer?

Is this a school room, hotel meeting room or a corp meeting room? Who is supplying the projector?

Mac or PC?

Are you in a large city with many shopping options or a smaller town with an Office Depot only?

And how soon do you need it?

1) Get a USB extension cable; the limit on plain, unboosted USB 2.0 is about 16 feet (5 meters). Attach your wireless dongle (whatever you have) to the end of it, and position yourself farther back but still in range.

2) Get a USB booster cable; those will run you up to $50 probably, but (five of them) can extend the range to about 90 feet, no wireless.

3) There’s a one-piece booster that will give you about 32 feet, again, no wireless, but of course, you could then plug your dongle into the end of it, and get the addition 10 or so feet from your existing wireless setup.

Here’s the URL I’d saved, not sure if it’s still live:

I used to have a wireless mouse but somehow it got lost. Decided not to get another one until they come equipped to make some kind of an audible response to a whistle.

My choice for a great wireless mouse and keyboard combo is the Logitech MK 710. I've found them to be the best hand's down. Battery life is outstanding.
