This is not a RIP Whitney Houston thread, it's a "why the (bleep) did you interrupt the viewing of a kids' show to say Whitney Houston is dead"? First, we sat there thinking the President had been shot or something, I mean it was downright weird given how long it took them to get to the point, because we figured it had to be pretty important. Second, it's a kid show - I know you really want to be first to break the news, but really? Morons.
I don’t think the people down at abc are very bright. JMO.
Was “Happy Valentines Day, Charlie Brown” an affiliate show or was it run across the network?
Yeah, unless it’s WWIII, such announcements can wait.
And this surprises anyone???
what’s really wierd is.. I thought I saw a thread last night that denied she had died.
They could have waited until commercial time, and put in a 10-second blip “Singer and actress Whitney Houston has passed away. News at 10”.
My 11-year-old just said, “Well now she finally gets to dance with somebody....”
(we watched Whitney’s videos to show who she was)
Because ABC and the entire msm act like immature 14 year old girls who think the world revolves around them. It’s all about THEM! and breaking news FIRST rather than the viewers who keep them on the air and a paycheck in their pocket.
Can't wait to see how long it takes the dummies at the postal service to commission a stamp for her.
If you had been watching something rented on your DVD player you’d have never had to deal with, nor pay for, that interference...not to mention the financial benefits from cutting that cable and no longer supporting the enemy.
That’s what you call a Lucy joke and Charles Shultz is unavailable for comment.
good grief
The entire national ABC network was playing the Charlie Brown show. The news guy started out by saying something like “Parents, we have a news announcement which may not be appropriate for the children who are watching this Charlie Brown cartoon, so you might want to get them out of the room.” Those weren’t his exact words, but it was enough to scare the daylights out of pretty much everyone who was watching.
Holy Crap! I would have thought nuclear bomb.
Seriously.
we had four little 8YO girls over last night for my daughters birthday....of course watching Charlie Brown when this came on...my wife was shocked- i was not...
the little girls wanted to know who whitney houston was???? how did she die??? blah-blah-blah....
I agree with you. I cancelled my cable about a year ago. I actually have the first 12 Charlie Brown TV specials on DVD. I think this one is actually the 13th one!
Al Sharpton has been all over the news today, but I haven’t seen Jesse Jackson yet. The scene isn’t complete until he shows up.
Sorry, that might have been my fault. It had been reported once before that she’d died but hadn’t (obviously). I posted the denial link without paying attention to the date since it popped up at the top of a search. Why it was at the top is anyone’s guess.
I guess that’s what’s important to them.
Just tell them Whitney is Justin Bieber's housekeeper.
I was so annoyed last night by the cable news coverage. One would have thought a head of state had died instead of a self-destructive entertainer.
I am sorry they did that, but Fox News was the worst.....over 2 hours of talking about her. I mean really.....and today a lot of discussion on it. As far as ABC goes, they could have had a warning at the bottom of the tv mentioning it and talk about it at 1100 news. Same with Fox News, mention it and then go on. As critical news comes than mention it in two minute segments. They totally knocked all the politics off the tv for over two hours and that is a bit much. I feel for the family but it really was not that shocking to me. And even if I was a fan (I am not), I don’t think I would need that much news on her death. Just a quick snippet and go on. If it was the President than ok that is different.
Probably because there has lately been a problem with stuff on Twitter going viral about some celebrity or another dying and it has turned out to be false. I only know this because my daughter was telling me about it - I don't do Twitter :)
They interrupted my Sunday morning cartoons in NYC when Marilyn Monroe died back in 1962. I woke up my mother because I didn’t know if this was somebody important she should know about.
We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5
She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry
Don Henley - Eagles
MEMO TO SELF: Schedule your croaking so it won’t interrupt anyone’s fun time!
There was a thread last night which denied she had died. They said her people said she was alive and well with her family in New Jersey. Somebody messed up something on the story.
I’m thinking more along the lines of a US Navy ship. It’s probably already in the works.
And so, the jokes start. Has Elton John finished the tribute song yet? Was she a Candle in the Wind, or a Straw on a Mirror?
Nah, Elton only writes songs for dead, white blondes.
then they would be jealous of her...not a good thing...
I tossed that one out last night, at 8 minutes into the initial thread, LOL.
And got called out for being insensitive.
There’s going to be a huge line outside of Whitney Houston’s funeral next week.
Technically speaking, that song was, "Don Henley - Solo".
Yes, there are reports she has been sighted at a Newark bus station drinking Old English 800 out of a bag.
I think the Coca Cola company ought to name a product after her.
I don’t think pointing out the absurdity, incompetence and stupidity of those currently running our government is being “insensitive” but that’s just me.
commission a stamp? more likely name a navy ship after the druggie.
I will avoid “Fox and Friends” for a few days because that’s all we’re going to hear and I’m sick of it already!!!!!!!!
Leni
Wow! That’s really horrible that they did that to you.
I hear there's a city in Texas that will be named after her.
A museum of American art in New York is scheduled to be named after Whitney!
” Its all about THEM!”
After closing time at the Guernsey Fair
I detect the El Supremo, from the room at the top of the stairs
Show business kids making movies of themselves
You know they don’t give a **** about anybody else
All in all, I thought the lyrics fit the frame of conversation on how sleazy and unprofessional journalism (print or electronic) has become.
Look at the positive side, It kept Romney’s two severe wins off the boobtoob.
Yep...Henley pegged the media pretty well with that tune.
