A Look At Rick Santorum’s Past. He’s Finished With Conservatives
Damage Report ^ | 2/15/12 | Greg Krajewski

Excerpts from American Thinker by Edmund Wright:

Couldn’t agree more

To be sure, the only reason Santorum has gotten away with this is that no one has taken his candidacy seriously enough to bother to look. He has not been above the fray. He has been off to the side of the fray. Ironically, he has been the “look at me” candidate all along, so now perhaps it is indeed time to look at him. Be careful what you wish for, Senator.

Oh My! Rick actually published a Pamphlet in his failed 2006 Campaign which tried to show Pennsylvanians how much pork he was bringing home!!! See link below

In the ’06 campaign against maybe the least talented Democrat in Congress — Bob Casey — the notion that Rick went down swinging deserves scrutiny. Under said scrutiny, the impression one gets is that of an embarrassed faux conservative who is shuffling off to the left as fast as he can. This shuffle left was actually a pamphlet put out by the Santorum campaign called “50 Things You May Not Know About Rick Santorum.”

Highlights from Rick’s Pamphlet

-Among those 50 things is the aforementioned strong support for legislation raising the minimum wage. In addition to being a shameless union measure, this hurts the free market. A sample of the other items include:

-Sponsoring FAIR CAIR act to force companies to pay benefits to laid-off workers. -Working with John McCain on campaign finance reform. -Bragging about bringing home federal tax money for clean energy projects. -Working with Bono to spend tax money on poverty in the third world. -Working with Bono to spend tax money on AIDS. -Sponsoring legislation to regulate gas prices. -Authoring the Pet Animal Welfare State Bill. (Huh.) -Voting for record tax funding of

That certainly is Romney’s plan. You wouldn’t expect too many freepers to be helping Romney out with his plan....

Santorum is a Pro-Life liberal. He’s a big government Republican union shill.

We only have four men to decide on and none are perfect. That being said Santorum has less baggage than Newt and it more correct on the issues than Romney or Paul. You said Specter was just the icing on the cake.........well, man-made global warming and attacking Bain Capital are just the icing on the cake for me regarding Newt. If Newt were running against Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater he would attack them from the left. That’s just the way he is.

No Newt.

So now pork is ok?

Do fiscal matters even matter anymore in the GOP?

Why would you get flamed? You’re just speaking the truth.

True conservatives do not have a candidate that has a reasonable chance of winning in this race.

Obammie the Commie is the incumbent. The state-run media will do whatever is necessary to ensure he wins. He has much more money. The people are stupid. I think he will win re-election.

I like Santorum. Is he perfect? No, but I think as President, he’ll surround himself with the right people and will make the decisions necessary to get the country moving.

As I've said before. I think he would make a good president but we would be the ones to make him a great president.

He was my 3rd choice, not my first but I think he's the best chance we have right now.

In the ’06 campaign against maybe the least talented Democrat in Congress — Bob Casey

This comment betrays the absolute ignorance of the author about Pennsylvania politics. Bob Casey Jr. defeated Santorum in 2006. He was the son of the last prominent pro-life Dem, Governor Bob Casey Sr.

Santorum had a distinct advantage in two Senatorial elections - he was pro-life in a hard-core pro-life purple state against candidates who were not.

He lost that advantage in 2006 due to the Casey family pro-life legacy.

Toss in that 2006 was a very bad year for Republicans in general and that Santorum was the subject of a vicious MSM attack, and you have a massive defeat.

The Casey name was a big part of that defeat, but that was unique to PA.

I think he will win re-election.

Here's my take...

We need to win all the 2008 McCain states (not too difficult) plus flip Indiana (easy - I live there - it’s a lock), Ohio and Florida (tossup) Pennsylvania (could be tough) and scrounge up another 9 electoral votes someplace. Pennsylvania could be replaced by NC and VA.

The money may not be that significant because it can be concentrated in the battleground states.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Give me the name of one person in the house and or senate who did not bring home the pork? What is a senators job in representing his state? Even ron paul (romney’s campaign manipulator) brings home the pork. What is needed is common sense set of standards as to what is and isn't acceptable spending.

Actually he's gotten this far because he looks like Ronald Reagan next to the rest of the pack. If you line up these guys, their mis-steps, their transgressions, you'll see he's way ahead in the conservative race.

So Rick , who represented PA as a senator, did what he was sent to do for his state. How terrible! He should have gone to DC and said, please don't give Pennsylvania ANY money for what we need in my state. That would be the FIRST senator to NOT bring home what was needed.

Actually, the second. Jim Buckley of NY actually tried that. Bill's brother was easily defeated for a second term by Dem Pat Moynihan.

The fun is only starting. The Santorum hit-pieces will start falling like rain drops.

That's what we have been promised since Iowa. So far we have that he votes for W promoted programs, didn't live in his PA house while Sen., brought the bodu of his baby girl home before burial, and voes for zome Union fruendly legislation. Not bad for a 12 year Senate career and long term State career before that.

Frankly, you sound like you HOPE someone generates lies about graft and bimbos. That is beneath a consevative. Go Santorum. Go Newt in those states where he is the most likely to beat Romney. Heck, go Paul on VA.

We're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little more now if we can and the rest next quarter.

Not true. I saw this on Twitter and posted it for general consumption here. It is the first of this sort that I have ever posted on FR. I have nothing against Santorum. He would be an improvement on Obama, but then almost anyone would be.

But I don't like any of them.

Santorum is NOT a fiscal conservative and, IMO, has as much baggage as the others.

I'm going by his voting record and his questionable practices concerning the school funds and charities.
