Rick Santorum is toast.
February 29, 2012 | techno

Posted on 02/29/2012 8:21:46 PM PST by techno

10 reasons he is toast:

1)He now is showing a major gender gap in his female voting whereas 2-3 weeks ago in polls it was negligible. Santorum lost Catholic women in Michigan to Romney by about 15-20 points.

2)Newt Gingrich will rise again to cancel Santorum out making each other non-viable. Major conservative vote splitting will occur again allowing Romney to come up the middle.

3)My prediction (other than Washington)is that Santorum doesn't win another contest in this primary season.

4)Romney has all the momentum and too much of an advantage in money and organization and will have the nomination clinched by early April.

5)The JFK comment was on politics and religion was a huge UNFORCED ERROR and alienated a lot of Catholic voters that he probably lost forever

6)Romney is seen as way more electable than Santorum although some polls do not bear that out.

7)Many Republicans and some conservatives will never forgive him for the robocalls to Democrats in Michigan

8)Santorum is an embarrassment to the GOP establishment (calling Obama a snob). They will never allow him to win the nomination. He is now as despised by the GOP hierarchy as Sarah Palin is.

9)SNL will now lampoon him to kingdom come. Once you become an entertainment laughingstock it's game over.

10)And Rick Santorum is toast because he acts unpresidential on too many occasions. Voters are now seeing it. He doesn't think before he speaks. He doesn't believe that discretion is the better part of valor. He wades into areas where angels fear to tread.

Simply Rick Santorum is toast because he cannot avoid getting himself into hot water.

So how is Rick Santorum advocating government intervention in marriage?

Good night gang.
I am sick of this BS.

Santorum is a sanctimonious putz IMHO and he has distracted us from the issues in this election.

He could make his federal point without acting like a self appointed moral cop.

‘We all pay for contraception now.’

Oh, really. I see.

I thought this was a free country where people were free not to buy things that they didn’t want or need. Apparently I was mistaken.

“He dont like the church paying for it and I agree.”

People talk about the separation of the church from the state but not about the separation of the state from the church - the state has no right to impose itself on the conscience of Americans, as Obama is doing now.

Rick’s the only one seemingly interested in confronting Obama on this issue. Why is this? Is he the only one who cares?

But I still think he is chasing a red herring that Obama tossed his way.

I don't think the Mosque should decide our marriage laws, or what constitutes legal marriage in America.

1. He counteracted that by describing his working mom, wife, and daughter so glowingly in his post election speech last night. He is not anti woman and people will see that.

2. Newt might win Georgia but he will not be rising too far again. He is too known.

3. Santo is leading in a few states.

4. This what every MSM talking head has been saying for many months. But even the serpent today said mitt is severely wounded ( paraphrasing but he did).

5. A lot of his supporters cringed when he said that vomit stuff, but we agree with him and forgive him the poor choice of words. He WILL take more drubbing over it though, but he himself if matter of fact about his getting excited and using poor choice of vocab. He did not rip JFK, because JFK was desperately overcompensating for any catholic influence.

6. By whom? Apparently not by most of the voters in these competitions so far.

7. His cheap Robocalls to Dems was to collect the Reagan Dems in prep for the big game.

8. So? Every conservative embarrasses the establishment Republicans. Rush Limbaugh, everyone.

9. SNL will lampoon everyone. Especially republicans. If lampooning lost you votes, why is mitt still getting them?? They do a funny bit on mitt and how no one wants him, every week.

10. Rick Santorum acts Unpresidential? I ASK YOU: would Rick Santorum make his own pepsi-style logo? A possumus pre-inaugural podium? Huge fake columns at his speeches? Teleprompters in school classrooms? Feet up on jfk’s desk in the oval office? Vacations every few weeks? Parties and other wasteful use of taxpayer dollars while Thr American people struggle? During the campaign, do you think all of rick’s gay lovers would be mysteriously gangland shot?? AND YOU SAY SANTORUM ISN’T PRESIDENTIAL.

Excellent post. I don't have a lot to add, except:

Santorum is the most electable conservative candidate left!

Don't forget it!

If 0bamney manages to win the primary, we will lose the general to 0. He will be portrayed as an out of touch, country club one percenter who "isn't concerned with poor people". Plus he has the likability factor of a lizard...or your average used car salesman (which he reminds me of by the way).

Santorum will do fine if he manages to focus more on the big picture, the economy, and contrasting his strong points with 0bama's weak points.

I'm looking forward to Super Tuesday, I think we'll see 0bamney struggle mightily, and Santorum will win the biggest prize - Ohio.

According to today’s lefties, yes. Another reason to vote for Santorum IMHO.

"Rick Santorum is exactly the man of most American women's dreams. Consistent, faithful, prolife, values-oriented, and hard working. He cares about the country, and the economy. Most of all, he OBVIOUSLY loves his wife and daughters. "

Thank you for stating what should be obvious, but apparently isn't clear to a lot of folks around here.

I think Santorum comes across as far more genuine than Plastic Mitt, and Newt will never get any traction in the "family values" arena.

Except the fact is that women don’t like Santorum, and it is unlikely to improve, instead it is getting worse.

When his voters kicked him out of office, Santorum lost his Senate seat with only 39% of the female voters wanting to keep him as their Senator.

It was the females that beat him in Michigan last night.

Democrat union members who have no intention of voting for Santorum in the fall almost pulled it out for him!

“It was the females that beat him in Michigan last night.”

I think what’ll drive that will be how liberal the women are in a given locale. Those that view “right to abort” as a major issue will no doubt vote against Santorum on the average. Among those who favor “right to life” he will be a big winner. Santorum has the major evangelical endorsement, that should help overall. It’ll be interesting to see how he does with Latinos given his Catholic faith.

We’ll see over the coming months, that’s for sure.

The Left has a playbook that Santorum should know very well. He should have a playbook of his own to use when he gets attacked.

I heard Rick talk about the contraception issue when he visited our town. He made no bones about the fact that it was not about contraception. It was about the Democrats imposing their will on our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. Rick should have stayed on that message loud and clear. Instead, he got into trouble when he tried to defend the Catholic Church’s reason for its stand on contraception. That is a debate that Rick did not have the resources to succeed with. The last debate would have been an opportunity to carry his case. However, the moderators purposely kept that topic off the conversation. That is because they wanted to dismantle his case when Rick had no ability to defend himself.

Rick should have let the Catholic Church defend itself. The Church has the ability to defend itself from the pulpit which is an asset that Rick could never have. It is an asset that the Left will never have either. Because of that, the pulpit of the Churches is something the Left wants to destroy (the Left will try to use the gay marriage issue to destroy the Christian church). And if those who have the promise of opposing the Left’s intentions let themselves be defeated with stupid mistakes, our freedoms are at stake.

Gingrich as Catholic would do better with Hispanics, and Santorum will never do well among women, that is evidenced by the 39% who voted for him when they kicked him out of the Senate.

Santorum only got 42% of his white Catholic voters in that election.

In a head to head matchup with Obama, Obama will wipe him out, it would be the opposite with a head to head between Dr. Gingrich and Obama.

Gingrich knows how to deconstruct a President Obama, and that would win the voters.

You and I view this from opposite viewpoints.

Gingrich has a big problem with the ladies, due to his serial infidelities. He is also an old, fat white guy who’s already got very high negatives. Once 0 and his buddies had their way with him, he’d be lucky to get 40% of the popular vote in the general. There’s enough real dirt on him (not to mention his egotistical and somewhat erratic personality) that he’d get creamed were he the nominee.

Fortunately for all concerned, he won’t be.

He should drop out to let support coalesce around Santorum.

Gingrich is divorced but you keep skipping past his re dedication to faith and conversion to Catholicism.

Gingrich didn’t have problems getting elected in his elections, women flat will not go for Santorum, Newt in a head to head with Obama can win a larger share of the female vote, and really do well with women, Hispanics and men, when the stage is clear, them intellect and vision and penetrating insight, can beat Obama.

Santorum is just not a heavy weight, he never has been, Obama would simply chew him up, it would be President lawyer against stuffy, non-special lawyer who lost his Senate seat by 18 points.

Gingrich is built and made for the bigger game, he is a historical figure, Santorum is already in over his head, he has never been a leader.
