Weekly Prepper Thread, for posting tips, new products, good prep buys etc.....
There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
Hopfully there be some good tips on what to do or how to do somethings. Clearly the show will certainly have plenty of NOT TO DO examples!
Preppers’ PING!
This week I found 275 gallon cisterns to store water.
Began printing off all the uses of vinegar baking soda witch hazel and peroxide.
Global buckets doing awesome. Now canning with my new pressure canner.
Bought non hybrid seeds from my patriot supply.
Bought #10 cans from LDS my providentliving.org.

Would you add me to your Ping List Please.
This week I ... brought a second tin-opener.
So, not a lot of progress in pure prep terms: I need to speed things up. That’s why these threads are so useful.
Would appreciate being added to the ping list also. Thanks!
I am trying to equally prep a cabin and the house, so this week I aquirred, 1 Mosin Nagant (now have two), two pairs medium winter gloves, 2 pair work jeans, 1 100 piece tool kit for the cabin.
Well, my month’s worth of food is laid in, and now switching to enhancing my first aid/sanitation supplies.

Here’s an old idea I recently started up in earnest that’s keeping a Rag bin/box/bag. I especially keep worn white cotton socks lots of uses general cleaning, gun cleaning, filtering, bandages especially the elastic tops of socks for holding coverings in place for wounds on arms and legs.
LOL
I am sharing this exercise with my sister. That help. Running low on $$ though
Last few weeks we bought solar oven and pump n seal. This product is good for removing air from jars after opened. I used mine to store bullion cubes and other items where air might degradate the food.
I also bought PRI-G to extend gas life. Better than stable.
Also look up monolithic dome water purifier on cheaper than dirt
It is amazingly cheap and easy to build.

Also, for those in Central PA or NW Virginia, there's a place that sells canned goods dirt cheap: SharpShopper Grocery Outlet
Please add me to your Prepper Ping List. Thanks!
A month's worth of food? Hmmmm.
No Matter How Much Food Youve Got Stored, It Will Eventually Run Out in a Full-Blown Collapse
Are there any FReepers in the Chicago area who want to form a preppers group and/or is there already one that a highly skilled person can join?
I know what you are saying blam, but eveyone has to start somewhere. I rather have a months worth of food than 3 days or 3 months worth of food stamps! ;-)
A month’s worth will permit me to sort out the situation and bug out in an orderly manner to where land is available for people to grow their own - or hunt it for that matter. But food storage isn’t just for TEOTWAWKI - there are plenty of other ‘lesser’ disasters that have a probability of occurring that a month’s supply is more than adequate. You can go to a gov’t run shelter blam - I will be able to avoid it.
This week we have begun printing out a variety of guides (including yours!) and other items, such as handling medical situations, growing food, aquaponics, etc. and organizing them into binders.
Picked up more food, and just bought some additional first aid items.
Hubby also bought a meat slicer and sliced up some wonderful beef to prepare it for making jerky (first attempt) and dried some tomatoes, grapes and celery in our dehydrator.
All in all a good week! (Helps I was home on leave from work!) Watched Doomsday Preppers. While I find these folks to be very foolish for going on the program in the first place, I have gained some good ideas and saw some things that got me to thinking about some areas we might not have considered before. So I truly appreciate the show.
