On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse”:
Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.
However, it hasn’t done much to contribute to his company’s stock price. Since the market opened on Monday through its close today, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has plummeted nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points.

What if you made up a sob story like it was your sons laptop and he was killed in a horrific moose accident (the computer was too)? Maybe they would take pity an refund? You wouldn't get to make a statement that you were dropping them because of Rush, but the end result would be the same: Carbonite loses a customer.
I never heard of Carbonite before Rush. After this, I bet I never hear of them again, either.
Anyone who dropped Rush obviously doesn’t want MY business.
If we have to pay for other’s birth control, then shouldn’t we have a say in who they have sex with? Hmmm - makes sense to me.

I don’t get to listen to Rush but I’d love a list of his advertisers that didn’t abandon him so I can give them my business.
I predict that as this nation polorizes more and more, businesses on average will decide there is too much public relations liability of being involved with the sponsorship of any kind of political commentary programs, and just ditch them altogether.
I hope that gets Carbonite’s attention. And all the other leftist organizations who think they don’t need us- consumers.
Of course Obama has a slush fund for em, so probably won’t make a difference.

I have to buy John Deere products sometimes but will work harder not to now. I was considering LegalZoom for a few things and Carbonite but no longer, the rest can kiss any future business goodbye too.

If the data is in your house, the government would need a warrant, and you would know they were interested. If your data is on Carbonite's servers and a government official asked for it, and to not tell you they looked, how would you know?

That depends. If they figure out first that liberals are cheap, whiny, needy customers (if they are customers at all), while conservatives will part with hard-earned dollars for a worthy product or service, they might do otherwise.
I ordered two cases the other day as well. Hope he continues to get a busy signal as he calls to cancel his own company's advertising, lol.

It was one of the first things he said when he started his show on Monday .... it was a ‘masterful’ way to start the day .... say what you will about Rush, the guy is just plain “good”!!
BTW, if there is a radio station in your area that carries the Rush show, contact them and thank them. I did this today & was shocked to find that the station in my area is under intense & organized pressure by the Left. I am trying to organize “the troops” in my area to send positive feedback to the station .... the Left has declared all out WAR on Rush .... this is one war we CANNOT lose. Cowering in silence is not an option ..... so I am DOING something.

Hey folks .... I sent an e-mail to my local radio station today to thank them for carrying the Rush show because I was certain they were coming under intense pressure. The message I got back was:
“It hasn’t been easy. The opposition is very organized...but thanks.”
I guess I should not have been surprised …. but I was. This is a strong Rush market and I did not expect the station to be coming under such pressure.
If you are so inclined, PLEASE contact your local Rush radio station and let them know that you support them for carrying Rush. If you have state ‘ping’ lists, let them know this is going on. Enlist the aid of your friends and relatives living in the area …... whatever resources you have to get the message to these beleaguered radio stations, use them!

True enough; but before everyone goes overboard with these sponsors, has anyone heard the radio programming before and after rush’s show today? IOW, are they all still advertising on Hannity, levin, etc.?
Actually, many women use their birth control pills as hormonal regulators. And if you’d check with your significant other, you’d find that the pill as birth control does not just magically work by taking it only on the nights one has sex. They have to take it daily for a while, which is why most women of all political stripes who take the pill take it continuously throughout the year; it doesn’t mean or imply anyone is having sex 365 days a year. Very different from what guys do. Viagra and male enhancement products seem to be offered on many health insurance programs’ plans though.

Surprised the guy would even advertise on Rush's show.
Why not advertise on Rush? They are using our money to kill us with. Hollywood has been doing it for years.It also worked with the main stream media for years.
