Does Sarah's Vote For Newt Constitute an Endorsement?
The Daily Caller ^ | 03/06/2012 | Jeff Poor

Palin tells Fox News Neil Cavuto “I knew you were going to ask me that, and I am just the poorest politician-sounding pundit,” Palin said. “It is tough for me to spin out of a question like that when it comes from a Fox reporter. If it comes from another reporter, I can spin out of it. Since it came from you, I will tell you, I won’t sound like a politician and I will tell you who I voted for tonight.”

Palin laid out her criteria in her decision.

“I considered who can best bust through the Orwellian Obama rhetoric that we heard more of today in Obama’s press conference talking about another insolvent and unconstitutional bailout that has no funds to finance — another program that he wants to kind of forced down our throat. Who can best bust these ideas of America never taking steps towards energy independence and we have the natural resources here and can do it, and who can best bust through that radical left dispensation and desire to mistreat those who are defenseless, mistreat those who perhaps have some disadvantages by making them more beholden to government? Who best can contrast themselves from that?”

Who was that? Palin said it was Gingrich, the “cheerful one.”

And you are too dumb to make any sense.

You can’t take the heat, leave ‘easily little offended one’.
FR isn’t for the ‘feelings’ crowd.

lol - you’re stretching it there. You don’t think she wants ANYONE to vote for the person she’s voting for. lol Lots of “wishing she didn’t say that” going on on the board these days.

Santo is such a weak speaker that Obama will wipe the floor with him.

Endorsement. She just cannot say it because of her contract with Fox.

Well dear, you can bet nobody could ever accuse you of being nice. That should make you proud.

Wear it as a badge of dishonor.

No. It’s a stupid question.

And there are stupid answers.

Even if you vote for someone and say you held your nose, simply admitting that means you want that person to win, relative to the other candidates.

That is an endorsement. That is saying, “I want this person to win”.

Now, if you want to argue “degree” of endorsement, that is another matter.

Voting for a person and saying you did is an endorsement. The only exception is if you qualify it and say that, though you voted for them, you don’t want them to win. Protest votes would be an example.

She is very cunning. I expect that she waited until super tuesday was a done deal (voting) so Rick Santorum could shave as many votes as possible for Romney. It is either to keep Newt in ( he will do well in the south) or maybe to have a brokered convention. She seems to like the idea of a brokered convention.

I think that’s why she’s been so quiet.

Your thinking ISN'T the way Sarah thinks.

She knows the frauds Rick and Mitt are - and it's not a mystery - only to those to who are easily deceived.

NEWT IS THE MAN for the job, hands down.

—Her’s was a private vote. —

No it wasn’t. Once she said who she voted for it became a public vote and a form of endorsement. Maybe not an endorsement speech at a rally, but an endorsement nonetheless.

And that is why she said who she voted for. If she had remained silent about who she voted for, it would have been a private vote and there would have been no endorsement implied.

This is quite black and white, and it all rests on whether she made her vote public or not. i.e. Private vote = not an endorsement. Telling people who you voted for (with no other clarification) = endorsement of the person you voted for.

And Sarah would be an idiot if she thought telling people who she voted for would not influence anyone. I’ve talked with her at length. She is no idiot.

Maybe it is time for a secession to a 3rd party. The minority elitist candidate will do the same BS in 4 years, dividing the conservative vote. That is if we can survive the next 4 years as a semi-free nation.

I don't know how much clearer she can make it. Those who don't want to hear won't.

The gop/e HATED Reagan... they hated Goldwater and they hate all conservatives... but they love our money and demand our votes. I despise the gop/e as much as I do the “rat bastard commie club”.

I disagree. If that is the way she thinks, then she would be an idiot for not pushing for Newt earlier.

Here is how I see it. 99% of FReepers rightfully despise romney. Some are not as experienced, old or as wise when it comes to the gop/e and the dnc controlling all of our elections. They manipulate and stack the deck... it does not always work... Reagan for example... but some will vote for mitt without realizing that he is just the One World Order president... white man version.

Rick and Newt are both extremely flawed... both have progressivism in their past that cannot be spun away or explained as anything other than big government liberalism. Some find that Rick's social conservatism and faith offset his progressive traits... others see Newt's fire in the belly, willingness to fight bare knuckles and his fiscal and Constitutional expertise as mitigating his progressive past.

All that I know and swear on my sacred honor is that I will NEVER vote for romney under any circumstances. I have gone along to get along for many decades and I am done. Either we take this party over and purge it of the disease that rots it from within... or I have two parties to defeat going forward. I am finished with business as usual... in any facet of government.

REELECT NO ONE!

same here.

The GOP/RNC establishment are as bad as the left to me.

I’ve had it with them forcing their candidates on us, wanting our money, and then never fighting the left like they fight the base.

Again, as someone pointed out, she's cunning and likes to have outs. I certainly have no power, but she needs pinned down.

And it could have been a protest vote against Mitt.
