Itís Time for Ron Paul to Drop Out
The Red Side of Life Conservative Musings from New York ^ | 3/7/12 | RedInNewYork

It is time for Ron Paul to pack up his bags and go back to Texas. To the best of my knowledge, nobody in the media or blogosphere (which is technically part of the media) has called for Paul to exit the race. So, let me be the first. Get out!

At various times, the media – in print and on air – and GOP establishment have called for the exit of Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, and John Huntsman. Oddly, nobody has asked the same of Paul. Paul has already admitted that he probably won’t win any states or pick up a material number of delegates (enough to nominate him), yet nobody is demanding the end of this devious side-show! The four aforementioned candidates have, at various times, demonstrated viability. Paul admits he has none. Yet he persists, and nobody calls him out. Why?

One plausible reason is that the establishment is behind Mitt – no, don’t deny it – and Paul’s presence helps Romney in two ways. Everyone is aware of the “BroMance” between Paul and Mitt – despite the single, hollow ad Paul ran to try to dispel the consensus of a Romney-Paul alliance. Paul has dutifully attacked Romney’s opponents in both fora such as debates and in advertisements (particularly against Santorum). This is reprehensible behavior! Staying in the race to game it for another candidate is beyond despicable!

The second way Paul helps Mitt is that he does indeed siphon-off not-Romney votes. Numerous polls and exit polling since the Primaries began indicate that self-identified Tea Party folk and Conservatives vote for Paul in percentages large enough to be significant, but small enough to avoid giving his campaign any real steam. These votes would otherwise go, at this point, to Rick or Newt, based on last night’s exit polls in the various Super Tuesday states. So, I must reiterate the contemptible nature of this Paul strategy. Santorum folks in particular should be calling for Paul’s head! Based on the outcome in Ohio, Santorum would have beaten Mitt in the absence of Ron Paul. For all the bellyaching Rick’s folks have aimed at Newt, it is a fact that the margins Paul pulled would have put Santorum over the top. Realize that Santorum supporters should be furious with Paul!

I have heard other excuses, such as claims that Paul brings in the youth vote and otherwise non-GOP voters. If that’s the case, Paul supporters are so loyal to their candidate that, if Paul made a strong enough case, he could drop out and shift that support to whomever he endorses – which won’t be a surprise. In any event, many of these claims are specious at best, because if it is true that these people won’t vote for a non-Paul nominee, and Paul can’t win (nor would any sane nominee make him their VP), the value of his presence is moot.

So, Mr. Paul, stop gaming the GOP race – it’s disgusting. Cease your reprehensible behavior and get out!

Now. Before you also get the zot, I suggest you get off line and return to class.

Bro, I've been on this site a lot longer than you have, and have sparred with much better statist trolls than yourself. If you think you're going to intimidate me over an Internet message board, you're laughably mistaken.
