Oil is ‘the fuel of the past,’ says President Obama

President Barack Obama on Wednesday dismissed oil as "the fuel of the past" as he made an unapologetic election-year pitch for his alternative energy industry policies and sniped at Republicans over painfully high gasoline prices.

"They get out on the campaign trail—and you and I both know there are no quick fixes to this problem—but listening to them, you'd think there were," he said at a Daimler Truck manufacturing plant in the battleground state of North Carolina.

Obama said that because the United States accounts for 20 percent of the world's consumption of oil but has only 2 percent of its petroleum reserves, "we're not going to be able to just drill our way out of the problem of high gas prices. Anybody who tells you otherwise either doesn't know what they're talking about or they aren't telling you the truth."

"Here is the truth. If we are going to control our energy future, then we've got to have an all-of-the-above strategy," he said in his speech. "We've got to develop every source of American energy—not just oil and gas, but wind power and solar power, nuclear power, biofuels."

Well, Obama thinks that oil is the fuel of the past in the US, but he’s ok with selling it to the Chinese. The Chinese have bought major shares in several US energy firms and have purchased shale oil and gas leases on both coasts and in the Gulf of Mexico.

Obama also supports selling sub-bituminous coal to the Chinese.

This clown seriously needs a reality bite. I’m thinking...thinking...thinking...who would have the appropriate fangs...?

For sure, it’s not Mittens.

Blind, and deaf to reality. Dumb should be in there to. Unfortunately as the smartest man in the world, dumb just doesn’t fit.

We should be able to make electricity out of windmills, rainbows and puppy dog tails.

Have a great idea. Let’s end ALL use of petroleum for fuel today and see how far his words take him. Then play that quote 24 hours a day for a week and see how long he lasts in office.

Oil is used in many everyday objects - more than you may have ever imagined.

Yep, even photovoltaic panels.

When 0 starts out a paragraph with “Here is the truth.” as he does above, it’s the same thing as a liar starting out a statement by saying, “Now, I’m not gonna lie to you,”: You know he’s about to tell a whopper.
We’re just beginning to tap our natural resources. If idiots like Obama would get out of the way we could have cheap oil and more natural gas than we know what to do with.

He doesn’t want to “fix the problem”. He’s created it, for the sole purpose of destroying the USA. He and his czars are like a plague of termites, gnawing away at the basic structure of our country - because they don’t liiiiike it. And they don’t like anyone who does like it. The more of our patriotism they sense, the more they hate us.

If he thought he could get away with completely shutting off our useage of oil tomorrow morning, he’d do it.

Frankly Scarlett, I think we ought to offer the Chinese a very slightly used president at a bargain basement price.

Unfortunately they aren’t stupid and will want us to pay them for the privilege.

If someone must start a sentence with “Here’s the truth”...

Does that not mean that people think he’s a liar?

He uses more oil per capita than anyone on the planet (multiple 747’s to Hawaii) and then says this.

“Let’s see them shift Air Force One to solar power one of these days at 30,000 feet and see how she does.”

Oh, come on now. Be realistic. Solar would never work. Pond scum is the only way to go in filling up the gas tank of Air Force One. You know? Pond scum? The TRUE fuel of the future! Starting with Air Force One as a demo project.

Obama needs to get a paper route, or something. So far, every alternative fuels venture he has dumped our money into has failed. Those that haven't are on shaky ground.

There was a front page article in the WSJ yesterday, entitled, “China foothold in US Energy”. it’s all about how Obama is allowing the Chinese to buy into our fossil fuel reserves. China and India are both investing in US fossil fuel, but Obama wants the US to cut back and pay more.

While he talks about getting us off of oil, what he really does is tie us ever more tightly to foreign oil.

Exxon makes its money either way. They can drill here, or they can drill over there. They can put Americans to work and pay into the US treasury, or they can put Nigerians to work and pay into the Nigerian treasury. Either way they make their money, but in only one of the two cases do your relatives go back to work.

While he talks up solar and wind, just remember that solar and wind do not replace oil. They replace coal and natural gas, which we already have in abundance. Solar and wind, if they worked, would only put American coal miners out of a job. As it happens they don’t work, and have to be backed up by coal and natgas plants anyway.

So while he talks about getting us off of oil, what he does is attack our coal and natural gas industries at the very same time he attacks our oil industry. At the very same time he talks about putting Americans to work he guarantees that there are no jobs for them to go to.
