Why It Is CRITICAL to be With Newt More Than Ever
The Red Side of Life Conservative Musings from New York ^ | 3/20/12 | RedInNewYork

To my friends who are Rick and Mitt supporters – we have already agreed to disagree. Please respect my opinion.

I’m furious. Negative ads, establishment vitriol, media bias, media blackouts – all of these factors have helped push Newt into third place. It is nearly impossible for Newt to win – in the delegate count, but Newt can still win! How, you ask? By making sure that nobody wins in the delegate count! As long as nobody gets the number of delegates needed to secure the nomination on the first ballot, Newt can win. In fact, he would be the most adept at maneuvering at a brokered convention. That is why it is critical that you stay with him and get him to Tampa! Did you know that if nobody has the delegates to win, after the first ballot, all the delegates are released – that is, they are no longer bound to any candidate. It’s the “reset” button, and the winner thereafter is the most persuasive candidate. We all know who that is. Just think about who you would vote for after hearing speeches from Mitt, Rick, and Newt. Exactly!

I do not want Romney to win – that is a personal choice. I’m sure many of you – the audience for this article, feel the same way. Polls show that if Newt lacks the enthusiasm and funds to move forward to all the states where he can pick up delegates, half of those delegates will go to Mitt. That is a dangerous proposition. To stop Mitt, and nominate Newt, we must go all the way to Tampa.

Ignore the media, ignore the pundits – those who say that Newt is just in it to stop Romney. That is only half the story (although it is important) . Newt would not still be putting in all this time and effort into his campaign if he didn’t think he could win. He knows what to do – and he needs you more than ever.

Be like Newt – an unstoppable force! Get mad, get excited, whatever it takes! Double your efforts to get the word out! Contribute at Newt.Org to make sure he has the resources to go forward. All we have to do to win is get to Tampa, and we’re more than half way there! You’ve come this far, and we’re in the final stretch - now, go for it!

Santorum the RINO

Rita drop the sauce. Santorum is not a RINO. I hope he is our next President just to piss you off and make you drink even more.

Call me when this doesn’t define a RINO, baby, .......

Posted by Newt Gingrich (Diary)

From the diaries. . .

Rick Santorum makes an excellent point that “past performance really does indicate future results.” I completely agree—but not just “in Mitt Romney’s case.” Rick Santorum became the third-highest ranking Republican in the Senate in 2001 at a time when Republicans inherited balanced budgets, surpluses, and conservative, pro-life majorities. Senator Santorum and his big spending GOP allies proceeded to squander this inheritance.

The leadership of the Rick Santorum Republicans proved disastrous:

The Rick Santorum Republicans never passed a single balanced budget, after inheriting balanced budgets and record surpluses. They racked up $1.7 trillion in deficits and increased the average number of earmarks by almost 500 percent. The Senator even voted for the Bridge to Nowhere.
The Rick Santorum Republicans increased the national debt by 12 percent and voted to raise the debt ceiling five times to accommodate it—even while dealing with a president of their own party.
The Senator voted with Democrats and Big Labor to defeat the National Right to Work Act of 1995. He justifies this vote saying he was representing Pennsylvania where forced unionization is the law but today, PA Senator Toomey is cosponsoring nearly identical legislation.
The Senator voted with Democrats and Big Labor — repeatedly — to protect Davis-Bacon legislation, an old law on the books that requires the federal government to pay more to its contractors. He was so wedded to big labor that he even voted against waiving Davis-Bacon in times of emergency. By voting to protect Davis-Bacon, the Senator cost taxpayers many millions in higher taxes, deficits, and national debt.
The Senator sponsored the “Santorum Amendment” to raise the Minimum Wage 21.4%. He supported Ted Kennedy’s proposed hike in the Minimum Wage. And, in a 2006 campaign commercial, he bragged about his support for a higher Minimum Wage.
The Rick Santorum Republicans abandoned their principles, resulting in the worst electoral defeat for Republicans since Watergate and the loss of GOP Congressional majorities in both the House and Senate. This left Congress in the hands of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. And in destroying the Republican brand of balanced budgets and spending control, the Rick Santorum Republican failure gave us Barack Obama in 2008.
This is not a record of leadership to be proud of, and in 2006 it resulted in a catastrophic 18-point defeat. I fear it would do so again in the fall of 2012 if he were the nominee.

Unlike Senator Santorum, I did not go to Washington seeing politics as a “team sport.” Instead, I set out to change the game, and was willing to fight the forces of the establishment within the Republican Party to do so. The result was the first GOP majority in 40 years and the largest increase in pro-life votes in House of Representatives history. When I was Speaker, we balanced the budget for the first time since the 1920s — and it stayed balanced for four straight years. We reformed welfare, lifting millions of Americans from poverty. We passed the biggest capital gains tax cut in history, helping create 11 million jobs. And we did it all while paying down the national debt by $400 billion.

If you agree with Senator Santorum that “past performance really does indicate future results,” it means there’s only one candidate in this race who can offer the change our country desperately needs.

Newt bashing Santorum. How surprising. He is so jealous of Santorum since he is actually getting the attention. Of course Newt is going to bash Santorum since he thinks he wants to be President. Problem is he is the only one who believes that he should be President.....oh and another 12 percent of America.

Let’s see here. Our choices are a left wing liberal, a union hack, a nut job, and Newt Gingrich who is experienced in success and leadership. I will stick with Newt on this win or lose.

What is surprising is that Rick has nothing to say— no plan, no agenda but for the barking and theatrics, left with parroting Newt for his material. Have you noticed?

Newt is more inclined to be stunned by the voters than with Santorum, but doubt you could sell the “jealous” thing if you wore it on a kite launched from your nose. But, that’s just my opinion.

“Romney”

Seriously? Romney? An Obama identical twin? The idiot that gave us ObamaCare through his RomneyCare? You want that liberal to win?

Napscoordinator, boy did you just say something profound. The country is in the mess it’s in because only 12% of the people are thinking. This is the answer to the country’s problems.

Try to read more than one word from my post before replying.

There are only three ways this nomination process plays out:

1: Romney has enough delegates to win.
2: Romney, Santorum and Gingrich split the delegates so nobody has enough to win on the first ballot. Gingrich throws his delegates to Romney or Santorum, thus playing kingmaker and getting a plum job.
3: Nobody drops out and we go to a brokered convention. Then, anything is possible but it is far more likely the convention would rally behind a nominee who didn't run at all rather than the candidate who came in third and won only two states.

I don't want to see Romney get the nomination any more than you do but he has a 100% chance in the first scenario, a 50% chance in the second scenario and as good a chance as anyone in the third scenario.

Newt, on the other hand, has a 0% chance in the first scenario, a 2% chance in the second scenario (if Santorum throws his delegates to Newt, but why would he?) and as good a chance as any in third scenario but really about as likely as Ron Paul has to become the nominee.

It sounds like there are a lot of people on FR who seem totally ignorant about how nearly impossible it is for Newt to get the nomination after losing Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. He has a two-state constituency while Romney and Santorum have each won states across the U.S.

Hate to break it to you but it isn't going to be Newt.

To quote Dennis Miller, “Newt is the smartest guy in the room”, I believe that, I also believe the democrats are spending a lot of time, effort and money to get Romney or Santorum in position for the nomination, Newt is our best shot, unfortunately the dems know that and are going to any means or lengths to prevent his being nominated. If it were truly a republican primary with only real republicans voting, it would be Newt all the way.
