This brings to mind a rather "contentious issue" in 1979. An T/V commercial appeared on American networks. It was for Alberto VO 5 shampoo. A red haired woman showed off her tresses. A polite voice then said " time to go on Miss Lenska"- in other words, a celebrity actress ready to go on stage.

Johnny Carson got in on the "indignation". People asked who was she, talking of a hoax. He drew lots of laughs Who is this pretender they said. Rula Lenska she was, one film appearance in the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Someone laughed all the way to the bank. No harm done of course.

I remember years and years ago in England, a crusty old Conservative snorting fire. It was a about a small newspaper storm about something or other.
