Arby's Is Messing with the Wrong Slice of America
The Atlantic Wire ^ | April 6, 2012 | John Hudson

On Wednesday, Arby's inflamed the conservative blogosphere with the announcement on Twitter that it will no longer advertise on Rush Limbaugh's show. Big mistake. The statement probably would've blown over, like all the rest of them, but Arby's moves following the announcement have awakened a sleeping giant. Shortly after its statement, the Arby's Twitter account went on a rampage blocking users who disagreed with the franchise, as Twitchy reported:

I’ve always disliked Arby’s. Nasty stuff. I think last time I ate there I was pregnant with my son who is about to turn 15.

Left them a message for what it’s worth:

“Wow! Who knew left wingnuts not only ate beef but managed companies who make crappy roast beef sandwiches? I confess an occasional Beef and Cheddar has been a long term guilty pleasure of mine. As a loyal listener of Rush Limbaugh (you should really try it) I have consumed my last Arby’s product. Ever heard the term “shoot yourself in the foot”? Ever think that might be what you’re doing here? I mean really, who do you think is more likely to eat a roast beef sandwich out, a gun toting pickup driving Rush Limbaugh fan or a tofu eating Birkenstock wearing Prius driving limp wristed liberal airhead? That’s the way to know your market.

Too bad ROY ROGERS’S ROAST BEEF is no longer a business. Same for MINNIE PEARL’S FRIED CHICKEN.

I am pretty easy to please, but Arby's food makes me ill. It is all processed crap.

PS - I signed up on Twitter specifically to post a derogatory comment on Arby's site.

the comments are hilarious, especially replies to the liberal whackadoodles

“.... And I just found that Haitian lady’s “missing” lottery ticket, so screw you guys, I’m going home...”

” .... Yeah well my uncle’s third cousin found a Spanish treasure galleon full of doubloons while working part time out of his basement. Tweet to #shutthefackupyouspammingcackmonkey for more information”

“.... That’s nothing. Stephen Chu just loaned me 450 million to start a company that will bring energy from Mercury and Venus and all I have to do is donate 4.5 million to the Obama re-election fund.”

I’ve been listening/watching/listening to Rush for a very long time, and I don’t remember Arby’s ever advertising on his show. Was it local-sponsor or national-sponsor spots? I just can’t remember them at all, at anytime, in the market I’m in.

Neither can Ms Malkin:

There is an Arby’s near me that seems to have very few customers with just a trickle here and there. They've recently added a sign that says, “We're Open”. Probably not for long.

It is very processed. I think I looked at the ingredients when I had a relative that worked there. I don't know if that was always the case with them, but their sandwiches seemed to taste a lot better when we first tried them in the 70's/80's.

I don’t “do” twitter, but if I did, I really think getting tweets from Arby’s would be something I’d never sign up for.
