On Wednesday, Arby's inflamed the conservative blogosphere with the announcement on Twitter that it will no longer advertise on Rush Limbaugh's show. Big mistake. The statement probably would've blown over, like all the rest of them, but Arby's moves following the announcement have awakened a sleeping giant. Shortly after its statement, the Arby's Twitter account went on a rampage blocking users who disagreed with the franchise, as Twitchy reported:

Rush has 20 million listeners who will no longer “sponsor” Arby’s.
They aren’t going to miss my business. I might have eaten there last in the early 90s. I get their coupons and they’ve all been going in the garbage. I try not to eat crap.
And the real misnomer is that they advertise locally DURING the Rush Limbaugh show, not ON the Rush Limbaugh show. All a company that is worried about a political backlash should do is issue a statement such as "we advertise on a local radio station at all hours to reach a diverse local audience, hence a diverse selection of shows. Consider our advertisement support of K___ (or W___) and not a particular show. We will continue to support our local stations."
Went into a Kelly's Roast Beef back up north and had a REAL roast beef sammich and a cup of clam chowdah. Damn, just thinking about it makes it almost worth ponying up the airfare again.
Nice knowing you Arby’s. Another product I will avoid from now on.
Arby’s...You just lost a loyal customer here. My convictions will trump my appetite any day of the week.
Have eaten there 3 times in my entire life, once because it was the only food option at restaurant on a long road trip
I don’t see how anyone can eat their food. It’s just way too salty for me!!
Back in the day, we used to call it Barfy’s. Guess it still is.
Your proposed statement makes perfect sense - which is why the left would never accept it. Back when this first started and Citrix blundered into the middle of it I chided them similarity:
“Instead of taking a neutral stance in the face of foolish low-brow domestic terrorism you’ve chosen to acquiesce to the evil agenda of the left. Ironic, since they aren’t noted for purchasing your products in any substantial quantities and I am - or was. Enjoy your new-found irrelevancy”
DAMN, I’ve been “hankering” for a roast beef sandwich or hot ham and cheese sandwich and potato cakes for the last week. Guess I’ll just have to make it for myself!
Look at the bright side- at least they were not donations to Obama!
I’ll learn to live without Arby’s.
Both were culinary delights.
Dad used to get Roy Rogers in Dallas, fly from Love Field to Tulsa and still have hot sandwiches to bring to Sapulpa.
That was a lifetime ago.
Heck I will still eat there at least once a week. My favorites are the hot ham and cheese, the french dip, arbyq and of course the potato cakes are the best.
As a young lad, I worked at Roy Roger’s and the bucket of ribs can’t be beat! Great memories.....
I stopped going to Arby’s in the 90’s as I heard they were Dem supporters. Sucks that I need to ditch Schlotzkys now to.
Wow! Thanks to both of you for alerting me to this. I’m getting choc syrup & vanilla ic Monday on my food shopping trip.
Let’s see.....Limbaugh apologized on March 3, over a month ago. This has been a non-issue since. Now Arby’s (Rourk Capital) wants to stir up the mud now......a month after the apology??
Arby’s revenues will go down in the long term as a result of this. I would not be surprised if it is a double digit decline. Rourk will feel it. But what is the most disturbing is that the smaller individual franchisee’s around the country will experience the brunt of these declines, not Rourk. Some may and probably will go under. If I were franchisee, I would be pi$$ed at Arbys for kicking a sleeping dog NOW after one month since the apology.
You’re on to something. Start a whispering campaign, claiming Arby’s uses Pink Slime...... (evil grin)
Fitting...a fake boycott from a company that sells fake roast beef!
THAT’s exactly what I’m making tonight, AAD. Good eating if you make it yourself and KNOW what’s in it..
That is funny.
And I had just eaten my first sandwich there a couple of weeks ago....bye, bye, Arbys!
Arby’s is done, well done.
Well done sir! ROFL!!!!
Best fast food fish sandwiches. 2 for $4.
I think there is a relation between the recent announcements from Arbys and Walgreens pulling local ads from Rush and the new Huckabee show just starting. Arbys is owned by Rourk Capital, who are big Romney supporters. Huckabee is supporting Romney too. I would not be surprised if the left (MediaMatters) and the center-left (Rinos) are both trying to take down Rush and conservatism.
I keep on wondering why are Arbys and Walgreens doing thus now, when Rush apologized over the incident over a month ago. I think giving a spotlight to Huckabee and RinoRadio is the answer.
I have eaten my last Blue Roast Beef sandwich with Horsey Sauce. Besides, they all closed down here except for one. I know the franchisee and he is a great guy...but nope...
They are a national account that buys stations on their demos...Usually represented by a National Rep like Katz Radio. My guess is that the numbnuts at Arbys (Roark Capital Group owns 81.5% of the company, with Wendy’s Company owning the other 18.5%.) told it’s agency to buy around Rush’s program...Bad move..
Their big mistake was even publicizing this whole dumb decision, S. Buying time *around Rush* wouldn’t be any big deal - I’m sure others do it, too - but using a “social website” crutch to publicize it, was definitely a bad PR move. No sympathy from me on that blunder.
Good for you. If that is what is best for you that is great.
72 here, 8 beers a day, little fast food and lots of frozen fish.
Weight no problem.
I do understand that fast food is not good for you so I try and watch it. Throw away half the bun garbage.
Your point is made, we all have to adjust to our specific bodies. Now give me a beer, liquid food.
Forgot to mention, I do walk 2 miles a day even with my walker. Gotta keep the blood flowing.
You can’t mention losing all that weight in 4 months. Details, PLEASE. I would be forever grateful.
You have FRmail.
Arby's moves following the announcement have awakened a sleeping giant. Shortly after its statement, the Arby's Twitter account went on a rampage blocking users who disagreed with the franchise...
Ima guessing the beer store is about a mile away. And that walker is a GREAT prop...
Yeah - and Lion’s Choice is soooo much tastier than Arby’s for sure! *high five*
Even though ARby’s is acting very “stupidly”, the TSA is still Too Stupid for Arby’s. So long, suckers. No Arby’s for me, you are easily replaced.
Roark is a francise operator. They don’t own any of those companies.
