I haven’t looked up the numbers, but what do we spend each year now on medicare, medicaid, Social security, welfare, food stamps, housing, etc at the federal and local levels? I bet it’s more than that.

Actually I just did a quick search and found this...

So it looks like just at the federal level in 2011 we spent more than that (900bills for HHS and another $800bills for SS).

Whatever. My objection is not the amount of money. I object to redistributionism in any form. I object to sending guv-ment checks to everyone in the country. It's the same objection I have to the Fair Tax proposal.
