Dear Mr. Bracken,
My name is J.M. Berger. Im a journalist working on a story about the EFAD trilogy for the Daily Beast. I was wondering if youd have a few minutes to discuss the book between Thursday and Sunday via phone or email. (My deadline is Monday and I am out of the office most of today.)
I can be reached at this address or at 202-656-XXXX any time starting tomorrow morning.

If you would prefer, we can use written Q&A format. Or, you could shoot me some questions that I could consider prior to a phone interview. In any case, Ill be out of range until later this afternoon.

Im mainly interested in understanding the role you see the book playing for the Patriot movement (entertainment or educational or inspirational, etc.), and how the book reflects (or doesnt) your own political views.
Id also like to talk about the inevitable comparison to The Turner Diaries. I didnt think the comparison was inevitable after Book One, but its difficult to avoid by the end of Book Three. Im interested in what you think of Turner, whether you set out intentionally to modify or improve on what it represents, and what role you think racial politics play in the modern Patriot movement.

Did you actually read all three novels? Every page? Im probably going to punt on this interview if your point is to compare my work to the racist screed the Turner Diaries.
Assuming you will say that you did read all three novels, Im guessing you are comparing FEAT to TTD based on bad actions by black characters in and around Memphis. Do you honestly think that after major earthquakes cut off W. TN (no water, no power etc), folks will all join across racial lines to sing kumbaya? There would be no racial element? Such a plot would be laughably unrealistic and PC. And do you find the murderously evil white vigilantes in FEAT to be portrayed sympathetically? Another Turner Diaries? Really? And did you miss the catharsis in racial feelings by Jenny?
I mean, seriously, did you read the damn novel, or skim it, or possibly just read the excerpts on my website?
If you have not read, (I mean, really read), all three novels, then forget it. Get back to me when you have.
And in any case, forget a phone interview. I can see already how that would go, when your notes become written words in your essay. Been there, done that, still got the scars, pal. Submit written Q&A only is how this will go, if it goes at all. My trust-o-meter is pegging the redline. My trust in journalists after a few decades dealing with them is below used car salesmen and hookers. Ive given interviews, and seen my words turned via the magical process of notes into damnable lies. Fool me once, etc.

I read all three novels. These are the reasons I think its valid to compare and contrast:
1) Both books are predicated around revolution/resistance tied to the seizure of guns,
2) The Memphis section of the third book clearly echoes the content of the Turner Diaries. My opinion about the credibility of anything you described is entirely irrelevant to that point unless youre arguing from a belief that black cannibalism is a realistically inevitable outcome of the breakdown of society or an unavoidable literary imperative of some kind.
3) Nevertheless, you seem to be approaching racial content in a markedly different way than Pierce. This is also a valid point for comparison and contrast, which is not the same as saying the two books are equal or equivalent.
4) Since you asked, my view is that the breakthrough that Jenny experiences is an awfully weak counterweight against the Memphis stuff. I plan on acknowledging its presence, and the other factors you included as counterweights, but I think its appropriate to discuss it in context. The balance in Book 3 is clearly much different from Book 1.
I can understand your wanting to clearly distinguish your book from Turner, but I frankly dont understand your outrage over the comparison. I think its pretty obvious and valid why one would discuss these two books together. To acknowledge the commonalities is not to equate the books on the basis of racial politics, writing or anything else.
So for some actual questions. Ill start with these, and if youre still willing to continue, I will send more.
1) Did you set out to do a political book in the form of a novel, or did you set out to write a novel that simply has political elements?
2) Did you consciously set out to write something that would be a non-racist or at least less racial alternative to The Turner Diaries as a text for the Patriot movement?
3) Would you describe yourself as part of the Patriot movement or as part of some other political wave?
4) Do you feel that the Patriot movement has historically had a racist component? Do you think it needs to change in this respect? If so, why?
Thanks for considering this request.

Mr Berger,
Let me take your approach for just a moment.
When did you stop beating your wife and children in drunken rages? Since we know that most journalists are drunken louts who beat their wives and kids, right?
Truthfully, most of the self-described journalists I have dealt with personally have been smarmy, lying SOBs, and I see you are typical of the breed.
AMF.

(Double Naught Spy Intel Wire Domestic Terrorism Data Base.)
SO on my resume!
” I’ll bet in his past he’s been a Double Naught Spy, just like Jethro. “
LOL!!
” “ I specialize in explaining complex subjects for ordinary readers, including business, science and technology, and terrorism”
This guy is a veritable expert in everything....not many people can claim this : )
I wonder if in his spare time, he can summarize long novels into 3 or 4 paragraphs.....like War & Peace, or The Brothers Karamazoff
Hmmmm....the plot thickens! Great catch, probably a lot more there.
Perhaps they are expecting riots from the black side, and want to have some ready evil white racist boogiemen ready to roll out as a counter balance in the MSM?
I specialize in explaining complex subjects for ordinary readers, including business, science and technology, and terrorism next it'll be turning water into wine...
: )
Karamazov.....sheesh!
OK now, what have you got against hookers?
That's not far fetched. The left is looking for scapegoats to keep the social justice rage up and deflect from Obama's dismal record. Grow the crisis through insinuation and outright lies, then rationalize severe measures to overcome political failure. That's how dictatorships start. Who knows, content in your books may be part of their campaign strategy template now. Bitter bible reading gun clingers, part deux. Watch your six...
Nevertheless, you seem to be APPROACHING racial content in a markedly different way than Pierce.
Liberals are mind readers. They can read a white racist between lines that are not written and between words that are not said.
Ignore this brainwashed trash.
“Proceed”?
Clue: AMF = not proceeding.
LOL I think you may have hurt their feelings
LOL I think you may have hurt their feelings
LOL I think you may have hurt their feelings
Geez someone erase a couple of those
Read the entire sentence. Taking, and using, single words out of context makes for false conclusions.
Are your books available as epubs?
“Patriot movement” reminds me of “Dominionism”. These are terms used by liberals to describe conservatives, not by conservatives to describe themselves.
Know about him. Another clueless try-to-make-money-from-the-terrorists airhead.
Hey Matt,
I read the turner diaries and it was not an enjoyable read, but I wanted to see what the big deal was all about, I won’t read it again. Your books are thought provoking, interesting, scary, and realistic. Can’t wait for the next installment. LOL you got a lib reporter to wet his pants!
Why Matt, I had no idea you are such a kind and understanding person.
Patient too!
I have no such outstanding, tactful and gracious social skills.
I probably would have simply emailed him a rather short response...

"Journalist" attempts to compare Travis McGee books to the Turner Diaries
Check out article and # 3.
Thanks, Travis McGee.
Both have relied heavily on accusing detractors of "Racism", both play identity politics games while pushing their agendae.
Tying the (old) Black Panthers in with AlQaida, even as Rap Brown has aged and 'converted' to Islam is interesting. Most Black politics involved an allegedly Christian pulpit, not a Mosque, but that has changed and seems to be increasingly changing.
That Obama's alleged daddy is Muslim just connects the two further, imho, especially since his mother was a Communist, his influences were Marxist, and his upbringing included heavy Islamic elements, provided we can believe any of the fable we have been handed as to his origins. For all we know, he may be the product of a Potemin Villiage somewhere.
In the 70's Sci-fi book Lucifer's Hammer by Niven and Pournelle a primarily black National Guard unit uses that strategy (cannibalism) to keep all its post meteor strike members involved and in line. So the concept isn't all that new in post-apocalyptic fiction.
At least with hookers, you always know goiong in that they are going to lie to you.
Yes, I agree. But I don’t think Berger, small fry that he is, is part of Valerie Jarret’s White House War Room “Journ-o-list” group. That is, I don’t think Berger received orders.
I think he’s a wannabee “walk-in” to the War Room, attempting to reach out as another SPLC “domestic terrorism expert” who will blow the lid off the new white racist lit meme.
And I will be the poster boy that launches his bearded talking head onto ABCNNBCBS as a regular split-screen guest.
I’m not proceeding with this douche, except where I threw his offered poisoned chalice back in his face and ended with “AMF.”
That is not for Adios My Friend, or Adieu Mon Frere, although it could be.
I was imagining him being ejected to the sidewalk at a suitably selected Memphis street corner at around 11PM on a Friday night right after the first of the month. It would be interesting to see him encountering some real racism.
I read the "seem to be" as "you MIGHT be different than Pierce, but then again, you might be just the same.
Like you said, "journalists" are known for thier mind reading skills.
Heck, Bob Woodward specialized in no-witnesses deathbed interviews with comatose patients.
And folks on the left actually believe what he writes.
Exactly. It just shows the libtard bubble they live in, where only their definitions have any meaning.
Yes, on Kindle or any other machines that D/L the free Kindle app.
I use and love the Kindle app. on my PCs. I will probably get a Kindle eventually but the app works so well I doubt if I buy a Kindle for myself it will end up being a present from my wife or Parents.
Using the Kindle app is a dream come true being I grew up watching Star Trek and was amazed someone could read a book from a computer screen. (Its the same reason I only buy flip open cell phones. I always use the Star Trek Communicator beep for my ringtone! Yes I am a nerd...)
No matter how many times you attempt to try to explain to a Leftist that Clinton was impeached for perjury, and not for cheating on his wife, they bring back some variation of the Big Lie in the quote you presented.
They lie reflexively to support that Big Lie of the Left, and any number of others. It is who they are. They live a Big Lie.
Don’t be surprised if one of the media big dogs picks up where he left off.
Yeah. Let him sing Kumbaya as he walks out of there. I’m sure that’ll work.
I have the basic $100 B&W small screen Kindle. I can’t recommend it enough. The “electric ink” uses zero energy after changing each page. A battery charge lasts literally for weeks. It’s perfect for trips, since you can have an entire library in the little machine, instead of hauling a bunch of books along. I love mine and have no intention to upgrade to a more power-hungry color Kindle Fire.
I’ll be waiting. The next “journalist” to approach won’t be so ham-handed, I’m thinking.
lol
Nice smack-down, brother.
Two thumbs way, way up....
In the one serious toe-to-toe dustup between the Communists and the Islamists, the Communists backed out. Of course, the Islamists had some outside help, and the home turf advantage.
Regarding the issue of “cannibalism”...
Recall that a few days after Hurricane Katrina blew through New Orleans, reports started coming out that the survivors were resorting to cannibalism.
Recall also that the response to those stories generally wasn’t “That’s ridiculous”.
The concept that some groups of people can go “cannibal” is one that Mr. Berger’s cohort, and possibly Mr. Berger himself, considers, in the deep, dark, secret recesses of their minds, to be plausible.
Sure, and the groups who are least restrained by religious or cultural moral underpinnings will be the very ones who resort to it first, when they are starving.
Say, groups who consider it entertaining to sucker-punch whites on city streets, then kick them in the head until they are maimed or dead, while filming it on cell phones for later amusement.
I don’t think they are going to stay at home and quietly starve when the skittles are all gone.
The patriot movement? Wanna bet this dufus tried the same horse hockey with Rawles?

In other pics, he has a full beard and he looks a lot older.

I would have thought his views on “homegrown extremism” would have been all about Timothy McVeigh and the Aryan Brotherhood.
Here’s the bio from his website. No LE or Military, just “journ-o-lism” for decades back. Note the topic of his next book, and how it ties into his approach to me, in his mind. He seems to be an apologist for islam, and a real hater of “militias” etc, that old libtard boogyman, which he links directly to white racism.
