George Zimmerman: Attorney says apology 'self-serving'
Central Florida News 13 ^ | April 22, 2012 | Bakari Savage

ORLANDO -- The family of Trayvon Martin asked for an apology from their son’s shooter, George Zimmerman, and got one. But their attorney, Benjamin Crump, says it wasn’t good enough.

Zimmerman, faces second degree murder charges and apologized during his bond hearing for shooting Trayvon Martin, but the family is unforgiving.

“It’s real simple. When they called asking for this meeting the day before the bond hearing, we said this is not the appropriate time. And we certainly don’t think the bond hearing was the appropriate time because it’s very self-serving,” explained Crump.

Attorney Ben Crump and the Martin family say Zimmerman’s courtroom apology was half-hearted because if he was truly sorry, it would have been posted on his Web site when it was set up.

They say it never was. Zimmerman has said he made other attempts to apologize, yet the Martin family hasn’t budged.

When asked what is would take for the family to forgive, Crump replied, “The truth. The truth. I think when you apologize and stuff, you’ve got to be truthful.”

Crump attended the premiere of “Beating Justice: The Martin Lee Anderson Story” at the Florida Film Feestival Sunday, which he says is a story from six years ago, but very similar to what’s happening now.

“I mean, very rarely do you get a documentary of a kid actually dying and that’s what we had in the bootcamp case. Well, here in the Trayvon Martin case, we have a 911 tape where you hear the last minutes of a kid’s life again,” said Crump.

Zimmerman is awaiting release from jail on $150,000 bond.

Any apology to any liberal or any leftist at any time for any reason, no matter how well-intentioned, is always a mistake. Always. There are no exceptions to this rule. Period.

"And stuff"? This guy is an attorney?

Big mistake to apologize. Does he expect to be convicted? He just gave the opposition a huge weapon. Obviously learned nothing from the apologies of the Kenyan-in-Chief and the crippling effect they have had on America's foreign policy.

Have you ever heard him speak? Bubba in Forrest Gump is Stephen Hawking by comparison.

I don’t think he apologized, per se, but rather said he was sorry for their loss, which implies no guilt.

Speaking as a neutral (at least temporarily), the Martin family have made a serious error by selecting a loudmouth lawyer out of central casting. Yes the state will be prosecuting but the daily doses of outrage from the Martin camp will soon become tiresome even to sympathizers.

I hate libtards and won’t apologize to them either. They won’t apologize for destroying the country so they need to “go”.

Neither. He is racist on purpose. He knows what he’s doing. There is a married couple with the name of hobbs in town. Just as bad.

The lawyers, the legal system, and the thugs parents are going to milk Zimmerman for all he’s worth.... Just to appease that demographic.

If Mr. Zimmerman uses “Stand Your Ground” to free himself he cannot be prosecuted again and cannot be sued either, as I understand it.

I was actually stunned when I first heard him speak. He’s almost unintelligible. I was also stunned how much total bs he spewed about the case. He claimed Zimmerman fired twice. He also made some wacky comments about Trayvon’s so-called girlfriend on the phone. Hopefully, it’ll come back to bite him in the ass.

From the article: When asked what is would take for the family to forgive, Crump replied, “The truth. The truth. I think when you apologize and stuff, you’ve got to be truthful.”

Well, Mr. Crump, you have to be willing to accept the real truth, not the ‘truth’ you want to hear.

Anyone posting an article on Attorney Ben Crump should also provide a link to the freerepublic thread titled:

I would like to see George Zimmerman give a testimony. & Have all the >known facts in the situation set out in a >trustworthy legal document. Anything excluded due to Hearsay would be labeled as such & also provided too.

I must admit I have only seen portions of the statement out of context, not the full statement. What I have seen looks like an apology to me. It was absolutely unnecessary for him to make such a statement in any event.

It was only a bail hearing. All he had to show was that he was employed, had significant connections to the community, had no prior record, and was not a flight risk.

The statement he made could only hurt his defense. If I were his attorney, I would have told him to make no statement that could possibly be construed as an admission of fault.
