On his Friday program, HBOs Real Time host Bill Maher called President Barack Obama the first black president of the racist states of America, while criticizing a line regularly used by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney while on the campaign trail: If people think theres something wrong with being successful in America, then theyd better vote for the other guy.
Romneys statement, according to Maher, crosses a line.
Youve got to say this about Mitt, hes a master politician, Maher said. I just heard him say this the other day he said this: If people think that there is something wrong with being successful, vote for the other guy. First of all, who thinks there is something wrong with being successful?
Maher called Romneys statement a straw man argument, but suggested Obama was successful too since he overcame racism to become the first black president of what he called the racist states of America.

"Government of Eric Holder's people, by Eric Holder's people, and for Eric Holder's people."
Maher is a pus-filled abcess.
There’s their campaign strategy, in one sentence.
Thanks Bill, for showing your hand.
[W]ho thinks there is something wrong with being successful? Why, liberals do: They think that people are only successful if they exploit the labor of other people, or the resources of 3rd world nations, or the environment, or because they stole stuff from Africa. It’s not a strawman argument at all.
You denigrate puss filled abcesses everywhere
He’s right! Blacks are the most racist people in America!
Someone once tried to run over Maher in their car but the tires refused to get any of that on them.
“First of all, who thinks there is something wrong with being successful?
Lefties, at least for some kinds of success. Maher has a sliver of a point, in that Romney misappropriates the term “success” by limiting it to business success. There are other ways to be successful. But this criticism is akin to going after Romney for ending his sentences in prepositions, or something. People know what he’s talking about; it is “the economy, stupid,” and that is the filter through which their ears hear everything. They know that a big part of Obama’s campaign is about punishing rich people, and Romney is setting himself up as the alternative to that.
“Obama was successful too since he overcame racism to become the first black president”
By the way, you don’t have to go searching for some non-business manner in which Obama’s been successful. He is successful in the exact same manner as Romney. Not to the same extent, but Obama is a millionaire author. Granted, people buy his book largely on the strength of his fame as a politician. But still, he’s made loads. Why do people pretend like Obama isn’t rich?

"One ni**er, two ni**ers, three ni**ers Three ni**ers! That is what the little American of European descent shouted as my father and his two friends emerged from a broken down blue Rambler. Three grown men from central Mississippi called the N word by a young boy in central Wisconsin in the early 1960s.
Cant get more racist than that, right?
I barely remember my fathers "toe-up" hoopty (I do recall how proud he was when he upgraded to a new Buick), but I will never forgot the ugly story my father told me when I was a child about how a fishing trip in beautiful, scenic Wisconsin, almost got him and his friends in serious trouble.
One ni**er, two ni**ers, three ni**ers Three ni**ers! That sounds kind of old-school redneck, doesnt it? Like the first lines of a Ku Klux Klan nursery rhyme
My father and all of his Mississippi friends loved to fish. They formed a whole community around fishing. My childhood memories are filled with my father and his Mississippi friends partying, hanging out, playing cards and fishing always fishing. And if any of them caught a mother load, they shared the load with each other. It was that way with everything. Greens, turnips, onions whatever they grew, they shared. Whatever they bought, they split. There was a lot of Mississippi in Milwaukee in the 1950s and 60s. They came north for work and brought the culture of the South with them.
In the pre- I have a Dream era, however, racism wasnt a north or south thing. It was an American thing and it wasnt covert. Racism was overt, obvious and omnipresent. Racist sentiments were natural; almost expected but NEVER welcomed. My father initially had to flee his hometown in Mississippi when he refused to cower at the use of that word. All three of these men who were called ni**er by that boy were veterans. Theyd seen action in the Korean theatre. Im told war has a way of changing a man. Well, it changed my father. After returning from duty in Korea, some teenager in Louisville, Mississippi, almost lost his life for mistaking my father for a ni**er.
But this was a child, and my father was now older, wiser, and married with children... (Me!)
One ni**er, two ni**ers, three ni**ers Three ni**ers!
My father was the first one to emerge from the car. It was the third passenger to emerge who actually engaged went after the kid. My father and passenger #2 stopped him, restrained him actually, and said the words that have impacted my life. Its not his fault. Hes a child. He had to LEARN it somewhere! (racism: a learned behavior, a culture, not an institution, not a government program, but a thought planted in the heart!) Well, then lets go kick his fathers ass! The three men laughed.
Of course that didnt happen. My father and his friends went fishing and the boy went home, never really understanding why the third ni**er was so angry.
That was 50 years ago. So much has changed
My father and his friends continued to go fishing until the day they didnt. Almost all of them have passed on now. My father, one of the last, is now in the last stages of Alzheimers. He shares his meals with many men, who decades past, probably planted those very seeds in the hearts of their sons. The irony slaps me on each visit.
I never taught my sons how to fish but I have shared the stories the community of sharing, caring, and how out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. I wish I could go fishing with my dad and his friends one more time. I miss their stories.

If I had a son.....he'd think like James T.
How exactly does a racist country elect one that is of the very race they supposedly are biased against...
That seems to defy the very statement itself doesn’t it...
Liberals, bending reality daily...
I can say thy Colbert has made me laugh on many occasions. Jon Stewart is a jerk, but his writers have put together a few funny jokes once or twice. Bill Maher is the lowest of the low, and has never been funny.
Mahr is the pus in the carbuncle on the ass of America
I suppose abcesses serve a purpose, unlike Maher.
0bama is a racist so what’s the problem?
“they shared the load with each other. It was that way with everything. Greens, turnips, onions whatever they grew, they shared. Whatever they bought, they split.”
Can you say, “Planting socialism into the minds of the readers”?
Note that this story is about life in Wisconsin.
Note also that Wisconsin has been a Progressive/Democrat/Union stronghold for the past century, only recently starting to come to their senses.
The state capital of Wisconsin is referred on on this forum as “Madistan”.
This story describes the thought processes/behavior of Progressives and Democrats.
Except that their sharing was free and voluntary; not enforced at gunpoint.
The best way to deal to holier-than-thou accusations of being racist from clowns like Maher is to respond in a way even they would understand, Hey, Billy boy, I know your are but what am I? Scratch the surface and under that facade of phony self-righteousness you will find a flaming bigot. I learned this back in my college days. My alma mater wasn’t quite a radical sh*thole like Berkley or Columbia, but we had our share of leftist idiotology. These hypocrites would carry on as if they didn’t have a racist bone in their bodies, pretending to be “down for the struggle”. How I wish I had them under surveillance on a typical Sat night of partying. Once the brewskis were flowing and the doobies passed around, that’s when they would “let it all hang out”. In vino veritas indeed!
He is the first Communist Black President!
I was wondering how long it was going to take for people in the media to start labeling anyone opposed to Obama as Racist. I always knew that if Obama lost in November that the MSM will attribute the loss to rampant Racism. i didn’t realize it would start this early in the campaign. Guess I was wrong. I guess I must be a “Racist”.
Maher said. I just heard him say this the other day he said this: If people think that there is something wrong with being successful, vote for the other guy. First of all, who thinks there is something wrong with being successful?
Maher is playing dumb (easy, I know).
The whole anti-1% thing is all about attacking people for being successful, blaming them for the ills of the country, as if success creates failures.
Well, apparently you do, Billbo, if it put the bug up your azz.
The other question I would like to ask is does he think he is more successful than Barack Obama? Do you?"
Has Bobo ever created one, just one private-sector job? I don't think he has, Billbo.
Obama the first black president of the racist states of America
Obama the first racist president of the states of America
There that is more accurate.
Take your time on this one.
Is Maher a Dwarf? Anybody know how tall he is?
“Last black racist president of the United States of America.”
Fix’D.
That’s strange. How could he have gotten elected then?
I guess if we’re racist, then this must be HOW he got ‘elected’....
Absolutely not.....they took care of their own. No need for Uncle Sugar when that happens.
Maher is a pilonidal cyst on the ass of our freedom.. he must be lanced!
Maher is an EPOLNLS...
Well, Obama and Holder are racist.
But Bill Mahrer is the perfect example of someone who keeps opening his mouth to remove all doubt that he is a hate filled idiot.
Oh! If we only still had honest journalism in America!
William Flax
Yes - he should be lanced.
I would agree with him except Obama ain’t black (unless you consider someone like Wentworth Miller ‘black’) And second, the majority of racists not to mention anti- semites in this country Mr. Mahahahaher are DemoKKKrats starting with our own mulatto POTUS.
What Obama is evading is that this “profoundly distorted view” is not just some passing emotion. It is what Wright himself, in the “talking points” page of his congregation’s Web site, describes as “systematized black liberation theology.” As we noted yesterday, Wright credits James Cone of New York’s Union Theological Seminary with having undertaken this systematization. Here again is Cone’s description of black liberation theology:
Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . . Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.
I wish that this skidmark would commit suicide with a dinner fork.
Won’t some patriot please throw Bill Maher out a window of a very tall building??? Please.
I honestly didn’t know America was that racist until this administration.
Okay, but is he our “first racist president”?
True!
We have Black Entertainment TV
Black congressional Congress
There are thousands of Black organizations.
Name a white org.
Political comic Bill Maher has been hit with a $9-million lawsuit from a former flight attendant who claims he broke promises to marry her, shook her at a party and offended her with “degrading” racial comments.
Nancy Johnson, who also worked as a model under the name “Coco Johnsen,” accused Maher, the host of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher,” of fraud, battery and assault in her suit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

“I was wondering how long it was going to take for people in the media to start labeling anyone opposed to Obama as Racist.”
It was baked in the cake from day 1. They weren’t going to say it while he was running, too many might have taken offense and not voted for him.
But it kicked in, as I expected it would, the first day of his administration.
Now they are trying to play the David Dinkins card. He was the first (and so far only) black mayor of NYC. He was a dreadful mayor. The summer before his run for re-election there were days of anti-Jewish riots in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
None other than then-president Bill Clinton came to NYC and told folks they’d be racists not to re-elect the failure David Dinkins.
Rudy Giuliani was subsequently chosen by the voters.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
I think any playing of the racist/black unrest card will help Obama about as much as it helped Dinkins. It amazes me the dems are too dim to realize that.
Name the other “Racist” President.
Seriously? Theodore Roosevelt? Woodrow Wilson? Andrew Jackson? Andrew Johnson? Thomas Jefferson? Abraham Lincoln? Richard Nixon? Harry Truman? Jimmy Carter? John Tyler? James K. Polk? Do we count Jefferson Davis?
I guess everybody is at least a little bit "racist" or at least ethnocentric. Everybody's made comments that somebody else might consider "racist." And people don't believe the same thing their whole lives long. Some outgrow their earlier views.
But really, we have had presidents who were a lot more into White supremacy than half-White Obama is into any sort of Black racism. I can't say for sure that all these guys were "racist" but you can find comments by them that people today would find objectionable, and some did clearly say that they believed their race was superior to another race.
Did you really think all of our presidents viewed Blacks or Indians or Asians or other minorities as equal to Northern European Whites? Wouldn't that have made Western expansion difficult and slavery impossible?
You don't have to believe that our presidents were horrible to recognize that they didn't see things as many people now do. You don't have to love Obama to recognize that he's not "our first racist president," and you don't have to hate America or think we're all racist to recognize that there was a lot of that stuff around in the past.
You can defend that lying, Marxist Racist all you want he is still the first overtly racist president we have ever had. The ones you cite were living in a totally different era. Done discussing with someone stuck on semantics.
It's not a question of defending him. It's about the facts.
"This is a country for white men, and by God, as long as I am President, it shall be a government for white men." -- Andrew Johnson
"Segregation is not a humiliation but a benefit, and ought to be so regarded by you gentlemen." -- Woodrow Wilson
The ones you cite were living in a totally different era.
That's what history is. It's about people living in different eras. Don't talk about them unless you've done the homework.
Done discussing with someone stuck on semantics.
Fine by me.
