Postgate? Washington Post behaving scandalously in wake of Romney hit piece
American Thinker ^ | May 11, 2012 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 05/11/2012 5:37:23 PM PDT by Interesting Times

The Washington Post is behaving in a rather Nixonian fashion, refusing to openly admit that its hit piece on Mitt Romney in high school yesterday contained serious errors that seem to reveal malevolent intentions. The coverup -- quietly altering the text in the online version, but not admitting error there, or publishing a formal correction -- may be worse than the crime, in classic "-gate" fashion.

Matt Lewis explains one problem:

How can Romney's old pal Stu White tell the Washington Post that he has "long been bothered by the Lauber incident" - and then later admit to ABC News that he was "not present for the prank" and "was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post"?

This is like the preliminary warm up for a fifteen round, knock down, drag out fight between Romney and the commie media. And here he was thinking they liked him, the moderate. Juan McCain thought the same thing.

Twain’s admonishion to not argue with people who buy ink by the barrel is no longer in play. They buy it by the quart and are no longer taken seriously by anyone who has a working brain. Ditto NY Slimes.

What does impress me about Romney is how fast they fight back through their own media.

An intentionally sloppy and stupid stunt to get everybody used to more coming every couple of weeks. "Oh, those wacky democwats, always joking".

Whatever dirt they have on hand, and they can always create it out of thin air, will be vastly more devastating, and finely crafted, than the crude "George Bush letter". This is just their pre-season tryouts for the slime league.

Good point. His campaign is showing signs of life that were conspicuously absent from the McCain kissyfest.

Fight? ha ha No, Romney's team is on the defensive even when it comes to a high school prank. They should be attacking Obama and if forced to say anything at all about incidents in high school, they should put them in perspective with Obama's admitted cocaine use. That is fighting.

The reason this whole "bullying" incident has been brought up is to neuter Romney and put him on the defensive and encourage him to play nice. Typical leftist tactic.

That's the same Matt Lewis who taught Freepers the fundamentals of conservative activism at FRIVA Las Vegas!

Actually, this incident shows that the Washington Post is working directly with the White House. And other major media are involved also.

Obuffoon's gay marriage gambit and this torpedo attack were coordinated.

You're right, but it shows far more than that. The article shows not only coordination but Lifson points out motive, means, opportunity and funding. There is a lot in this article. It needs to hit every Freeper's ping list

Couldn’t agree more - that is the real scandal. I would love someone doing some serious digging to uncover all the machinations that went on between the White House and the Com-Post before this story came out.
