(Reuters) - The United States expressed alarm that its protégés in the Egyptian army were abusing hopes for democracy by ordering more military rule just as the Muslim Brotherhood was claiming victory in the country's first free presidential election.
The Islamists' self-assurance was contested by the other candidate in the run-off race, a former general who was prime minister when Hosni Mubarak was ousted last year by an army anxious to save itself from the revolution in the streets.
But there was still no result from the two-day poll, although independent officials privately spoke of a likely win for Islamist Mohamed Morsy over military man Ahmed Shafik.
Yet whatever the outcome - and one electoral supervisor said it might not be announced until Thursday - the new president was shorn in advance of much of his power by a decree issued by the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) just as polling stations closed and two days after it had dissolved a new, Islamist-led parliament.

I hope the military finally get it in their heads that the muslim leadership our their enemies and rivals. Even though the military are raised in the same muslim ideas as other Egyptians, I hope that they realize that the mullahs have to be undermined in every way. If they were smart, they would undermine the mullahs and encourage freedom of religion.
There is no such thing as an 'Islamic Democracy'.
Methinks they are afraid that this sets precedent; My God, the military here in the US may invalidate our legitimately stolen election counts.

And the Egyptian military is not going to back any group that is bucking for war with the Israelis. They have been there and done that and have a whole collection of t-shirts.
Mostly they have quietly, with and without their governments official blessing, worked with Israel to keep the people that they regard as the real trouble makers in Gaza under control.
Were it not for our Emperor’s wishes to have the military tactical resources of Egypt fall into the hands of the Muzbros intact in order for them to be turned against Israel, I have little doubt that he would have already sent NATO over to destroy them much like he did for Libya.
He still might, hoping for at least a few WMD surviving the attack that his Bro’s might be able to salvage.
How much American tax money did he just give the Muzbros to advance their agenda with - something like $1.8 billion, wasn’t it?
Anything or anyone who gets in the way of the Muzbro’s Israel-extermination and global Caliphate Jihad agenda will soon have Deer Leeder Obama’s tactical targeting laser affixed upon them, and the ordnance will be on it’s way presently.
America is already engaged in a proxy war against Israel, whether we want to be or not.
